In you neighborhood? Wow. I had to go all the way down to San Jose to get to a place remote enough to fire the M95 with my cousin. It took the entire day, there and back.

If you're talking to me... yeah, I live in the "Pacific Northwest" where its not quite as stupid as California tends to be. Both our families are based in Texas. Both states have long traditions of family gun ownership and it really isn't a big deal (i.e. not the level of irrational demonization that some locales take it to).

Yep, Cali is pretty tight on gun etiquette. Even airsoft rifles must be kept hidden and sport an orand flash hider.

I personally don't believe the public should be able to own firearms, but it's quite evident that the amendment will never be changed; so, if you can't beat em', join em'.

Brown Tip 5.56mm for Short Barrels:

Corps to use more lethal ammo in Afghanistan:

Do we need a larger caliber bullet like the 6.5, 6.8 or 7.62mm? Or will advanced
5.56mm rounds do the trick?

Not much to say otherwise, I've been shrinking my personal armory over the years to a few preferred implements. I have a Glock 30 (short barrel .45acp), my tiny but fearsome wife uses a Glock 19 (short barrel 9mm). We have a home defense shotgun (Mossberg 500 modified pistolgrip/foldingstock) and a few other items. My favorite is a pure toy, a .22cal magnum western-style derringer (2 shots). It has an effective range of about 5 feet - its primary purpose being to made a noise like a cannon with an amazing flash. I pull it out on firework holidays and shoot it at night. It literally fits in my hand. (not my blog, just happens to be the same model).

My brother owns both an AR and an AK amongst other things .... in his estimate the difference is a matter of weight/reliability/ease-of-field-repair, and the AK edges out. The AR is more accurate *when it works* I've always wanted to try an SIG 556 (one of my favorites in Ghost Recon and other games).

Caveat: we live in a rural sector where most everyone target shoots on their land.
well i wanted to see what the FAL was in full auto since they said it was so defiant in full auto.... thought it was so fake... but got my shoulder in extreme pain after a magazine.
well m14 wasnt all that bad.... but i CANT get used to the M1A... feels really rEALLY different..... seriously.... and i almost clipped my pinky and the ring when i tried the rifle maneuver with the M14.... haha...

CZ75 really looks weird, but im kinda lovin its grip... soo comfortable.

ya know, im loling at the Mauser C96.... seriously...

@Animefan: M855... they call that thing 'green bullet' because of its lead freeness...
well i cant mess with it since i dunno when uncle's gonna take me again... only shot the ball, tracer, and HP (thats what they said it was when i used the F2000)

You'll be taking my firearms from me, from my cold dead hands. Seriously. The Founders put the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights, because it was a protection against the Government incase it ever grew too powerful.

Not having the equipment never stopped the French from taking it from the cold dead hands of soldiers, see Storming of the Bastille

Quote:
On the morning of 14 July 1789, the city of Paris was in a state of alarm. The demonstrators had earlier stormed the Hôtel des Invalides to gather arms (29,000 to 32,000 muskets, but without powder or shot), and were mainly seeking to acquire the large quantities of arms and ammunition stored at the fortress of la Bastille. On the 14th there were over 13,600 kilograms (30,000 lb) of gunpowder stored there.
The lack of discipline or proper organisation never stopped them from getting together and storming a fortress with empty muskets when pressed. That's when communication was limited to horseback. (Pigeon post wasn't available to the masses)

The French presently have no weapons, but they can block roads, airports, train stations and manifest in the streets, destroying businesses, bus stops, doors, signage and light cars on fire indiscriminately when they protest.

Would I put loaded guns in their hands? No, I don't think so.

Can we get back to the topic? I'd rather this not devolve into "gun rights" thread. The original point was simply to discuss firearms. I apologize for even mentioning the issue.

I agree Vexx.
This is not a "2nd Amendment" thread.

Anyway, I've a question to all gun lovers/owners here.
Are the Kvar series of civilian AK-47 clones any good?

http://www.k-var.com/shop/home.php?cat=353

I ask because I've been thinking of buying an AK-47 look-a-like and was wondering which civilian model is best.

I don't know myself, I've forwarded the question to my brother to see if he's encountered these clones.

WOW! This thread has certainly taken off! I didn't think there were that many gun enthusiasts on here!
Our own current armoury contains: My husbands Beretta 92FS (he bought one to stay familiar with the issue M-9) and his Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun. Me I have my Daddy's old 1911-A1 that he brought home from Korea, a Colt AR-15, my CCW gun an HK P7 and a Smith & Wesson snubnose .38 in stainless steel, and an old Remington .22 rifle. All of them are locked in a safe (except for the home defence guns), so the kids don't get curious (even though both have completed a Hunter's Safety course!)
If I were limited to only one of the above, I'd take the .45! It just plain works!!

I couldn't even list them all. Seriously. Between my old man and I, we have close to 40 rifles/shotguns/handguns. I hope to add another 15 or so to that list in the next ten years once I get access to more cool stuff in arizona that I can't get here.

Just to give a small hint though...

2x Mini-14's
2x M1 Carbines
3x Winchester 30-30 Lever Actions
1x Rossie .357Mag Lever Action
1x Remington 12g pump
1x Winchester 20g pump
1x Winchester .410 pump
1x Remington 700 in 30-06
7 or 8x .22 bolt and semi-auto rifles
1x Double barrel side by side 12g Shotgun

There's several more of my grandfather's guns I haven't looked at in years. They're WW2 era though. And my old man and I have about 10 handguns as well.

The armoury between my brother and I:

Lanber 1270 Twelve Gauge Under & Over
Lanber 2097 Expulsor Sporting Lux Twelve Gauge Under & Over
Browning Sporting Lightning Clays Twelve Gauge Under & Over
Miroku MK10 Grade Three Twelve Gauge Under & Over
BSA Sporter .22LR
Sterling Model 15 .22WRM Bolt Action
CZ 452 .22WRM Bolt Action
Browning A-Bolt Hunter .223 Rem Bolt Action
Ruger M77 .308 Win Bolt Action
Steyr-Mannlicher Elite .308 Win Bolt Action
Marlin 1894C .44 Magnum Lever Action

In future we hope to add:

Browning T-Bolt .22LR Straight Pull
Browning Citori 525 Golden Clays Twelve Gauge Under & Over
M1917 .30-06 Bolt Action
Marlin 1895G .45/70 Lever Action
Steyr Scout .223 Rem Bolt Action

And things I'm saving for currently pending current laws and regulations:

AI Arctic Warfare Super Magnum .338LM Bolt Action - this one is just a matter of time
Benelli M4 Super 90 12 Gauge Auto Loader - There's a bit of leg work required to get this one.

I'm sure there will be other firearms acquired over time but those are the ones that come to mind. I'm only twenty-one so I figure I've got plenty of time to amass quite a collection.

i think thars a civvy version of the M4... only chambers 4 shells i think....

how efficient were you using that lever action? only messed with the 30-30 version and its kinda sore in the right arm. i tried the MW2 style cocking and i failed big time, with my entire hand hurting for a week.... >.>

was hoping that you had a contender with you too....

also... IM STILL DAMN ENVIOUS WITH YOUR SCOUT TACTICAL!!!!!
