i love Muv luv VN series(read it long time ago so i forgot nearly everything) but is Schwarzesmarken worth it? i tend to dislike spin-off sequel/midquel that capitalise the main popular series as it usually subpar but most importantly its limited by the plot point of the main game and thus ultimately "doesnt matter" as in they wont have major new/surprise plot twist, they wont solve the real Beta problem and always be in Takeru and co's shadow which make their struggle seem trivial

so short version is, does Schwarzesmarken hold up as a stand alone story? does it feel restricted by the main game?

Anything but, Schwarzesmarken is definitely MLA-tier material. You just get the typical MLA experience on a different setting with different characters, which is an outstanding experience on its own.

Anyone can enjoy Schwarzesmarken, even ML fans and people who are new to the series.
The VN hasnt been translated though, but everything so far looks promising.

But make no mistake, it's not just a "spin-off" or prequel telling a small part of the universe... it's a well put story and just as good as the main series.

I wonder when we will get more news for TDA....it has been 2-3 years and still no rumors or anything. or is done for real?

They're planning to release one last episode which is a standalone, though it seemed to have gotten pushed back due to Schwarzesmarken & Kickstarter.

Well, if it's on Steam and passes Greenlight and gets a full version release, I'll get it. There's things I need answered. While the anime did some things right, a super-compression will never ultimately succeed.

I'll make a note to keep a lookout for SM's release on Steam.

It may be because of the new translation, but I'm enjoying Extra much more than I remember.

Nice, so are there any other notable difference besides the translation? Cause from what i gather there doesn't seem to be any new scenes or CG included in it.

None so far. The only significant difference right now is the game uses the Alternative fonts and moving mouth instead of text in a box.
