That's what I remembered too, I'm guessing he took care of Milan pretty fast and then raced over to Imperial Nelpha where the god's eyes children were.

Poor Ryner, everywhere he goes there are extremists, extremists, and more extremists! Wouldn't be surprised if he does snap again, as dream guy put it, he really does like people as a whole and considers himself personally to be a monster, not everyone else with the god's eyes.
Also, the pacing seemed a bit faster to me this episode, like they crammed a lot in, which novel are we on by now?

For those against Kiefer, please do note that she has spent the last few years travelling and looking for information to help Ryner. Thats already pretty good devotion. Ferris is most matching in terms of personality with Ryner, but Kiefer isn't worth nothing either

As for the group of eye bearers, even if Tia's group survives, if one of the kids grows up into a humanity hating eye bearer, it will just continue the cycle of violence and the entire grouping of eye bearers will have to bear the retributive actions and ill will created by that one person. The ill will then creates the vicious cycle as more eye bearers will hate humanity. Our own real life history is full of such stories if you subsitute the eye bears and normal humans with real life groups/races/nationalities/religions/etc

With that in mind, identifying and getting rid of all of them is the fastest method. Is it the humane method? No. Is it the best method? No, the best method requires sincerity and cooperation from both sides. Can the Gastark king be faulted for using such a method? I do not know.

Just an ok episode. I guess it's 50/50 on Ryner having no problems with what Tiia does. He seeks out people to use as food whereas Ryner never intended to harm anyone. That's the difference I see between the two. Whether Ryner ever does whose to say...

Sorry I couldn't help but cheer on Sui's death flag rather than sob over his injuries like the other pinkettes were doing...

I wonder if Kiefer realized what she was looking at when the others were looking at the crystalized eyes rather then she said gems? Also I'm not to worried about her jumping ships either. She may have more to worry about with her knowing Ryner now exposed...

The previews looks like Ferris has caught up to Ryner and the battle with Luke or maybe even Lir is on. Can't wait...

Kiefer's like the ketchup and Ferris like the mayonnaise, I like both very much.

We've seen more of Sion's sympathetic side so far, though I'd like to think he and Gastark's king (too many names ) have some similarities.
I'm very curious as for how he will react towards people he might meet in person from Roland/Estabul who are to be obliterated and/or are simply innocent and/or have undergone Gastark's cruelties before.
So far he's the straightforward offensive and honest 'idiot' who's rather optimistic while Sion's the defensive thoughtful stand-alone guy, that means Gastark's king carries the responsibilities for most victims that have to be killed in order to move forward for the same goal as Sion's.
What would he have done if he was at the incident with Kuku's rescue or when all those eye-bearers were murdered?
I can't wait to see how he handles such cases in actuality, or maybe his subordinates are the only ones who do the 'dirty' work.

Eye patch badarse Riphal has one hell of a huge death flag, so i can eventually see Kiefer only showing some kind of compassion towards him before he dies. He'll die, i'm 99% certain of that.

I like how this episode show a complete different side of Tiia, completely backing up his views. I actually felt for him a little in this episode, which is madness going off what he's done in the past two episodes.

Well looks like it'll kick off again next week. Looks like it'll be pretty .

Ferris seems very upset without Ryner, i feel bad for her, she didn't even take her dango bags with her, so Sion seems to be falling into more darkness, so Sui and Kuu work for Gastark, Kiefer looked good in a dress, but i don't like that king, not surprising he tried to marry her, she seems to be falling for him though, she seemed happy that Ryner was alive , but now she'll have to talk,feel bad for the kids, Tiir does have a point, but he is stil crazy, surprised he lost to Lir before, shows how powerful the rule fragments are, all Gastark people are killers, they even took out little kids, so new eyes are reveled, the Ebra Crypt seems to be able to read people's dreams, doesn't seem like a monster like ability, so Lafra wants Ryner to save everyone, wonder what his plan is, so Luke shows himself at the end, wonder what happened with Froade and Milk, so battle next week, wonder if Lir shows himself, seems like Ferris catches up with Ryner, does he go berserk again, kids might get hurt

Well, who would've thought Tiir has a side like that. The more they talk about how stigma bearers were labeled as monsters just because of their eyes and was ruthlessly hunted and killed, the more I feel bad for them. I mean, the whole world is against them and there is pretty much no place for them to settle peacefully. Sion became an idiot and Luke is also another fool. Sui....well, he deserves it. Keifer on a red dress is and Ferris is still Ferris. Ah, this is turning even more better than I thought.

If I had to guess, Milan must have convinced Luke to kill Ryner in order to free Milk. Killing Ryner will still fall under the king's orders. Also, Luke might realize the value of Milan's "help" for the king. Since Ryner is no longer by Sion's side, killing him would prevent a possible "problem" from arising later on.

Next episode looks like Ferris will come and save the day, again. It will most likely end with someone dying, although not sure who yet. There are 3 factions surrounding Ryner right now, and at least one of those 3 will need to be eliminated in order to have resolution to one part of the story.

From the looks of it, Tiir's group doesn't have a long lifeline. But, I hope it doesn't happen. Getting resolved from someone's death is nice to see sometimes, but it has already been used in this series once before. I hope the author doesn't use the same thing again. Denyuden has set very high standards for me as it has been surprising me again and again till now and I hope that it finds some other way to conclude next week's fight instead of following a predictable path.

Anyway, the best part of this episode for me was Ferris leaving dango to search for Ryner. It shows how much Ryner means to her. I just love how much the characters have developed in the last few episodes.

And the next episode looks like it will be epic
Can't wait for the fight between Luke and Ryner next week.

After several episodes of building up Tiir as the ultimate evil menace, it turns out that he's not quite so black-hearted after all...at least when it comes to fellow alpha stigma bearers...

Nice cliffhanger at the end, there. Can't wait for next ep! Huge fight! Maybe they'll toss in some Luke background, too. Hopefully, the kids won't get caught in the crossfire...

I think the REAL BAD GUYS here are the Gastark King and his subordinates (especially Orla siblings).

I mean they had a small peaceful country going on in the north when all of a sudden they decided to conquer everyone to achieve their notion of peace? It even pisses me off how the king acts all emo about how he hates wars when he is the one initiating it all himself! Ughh! I hate him, and I definitely want the author to take on the direction of making Gastark the main enemy that they will have to definitely crush.

I definitely cant feel any empathy at all to Refal's cause (Gastark's King). They start the war themselves to achieve their OWN peace. While at least I understand why Sion's initial definition of peace was to eliminate the nobles whom of course are corrupt and also behind a bunch of battles and wars. Well at least this was before Gastark started conquering nations and Sion had to take action to protect his country, which was why he drastically changed for the worst.

Question about next episode: Does Ryner go berserk? If so which kind of berserk? One where he goes out of control (the ones we already saw in ep.3 and 9-10) or One where he finally gets serious and shows them his true skills as Roland's greatest mage?

The king himself is unlikely. If you want power (yet not looking to destory everything aka insane), you would probably want all your limbs and organs intact to enjoy it. Luke probably knows the other guy is in the grass, so he's going to "attack" Ryner with a wink and his blast is going off in another, very specific location.

My guess. Luke saved Milk. He sends Milk off to get Ferris and tell her where he is. From the preview... someone had to tell Ferris where Ryner went. Tiir sure has the worst secret base EVER!

Riphal and Gastark look like the good guys but its probably all a facade. They're have all the markings of fanatical members of a death cult or something. They're probably collecting those jewels from alpha stigma bearers to power a magical nuke. Riphal is marked for an evil, delusional cackle in the following episodes.

Think I hopped onto the bandwagon a little late here, but have felt rather bemused at the lack of bloggers doing this series.

In any case, I thought episode 19 was a pretty nice episode with a little more information on the Cursed Eyes.

The first part of the episode already proved to be delicious material for speculation for a 'will the real bad king please stand up' question. I'm very sure those 'pretty jewels' aren't exactly simple baubles to say the least, and it's starting to feel more and more like comparing which 'the ends justify the means' scenario is more...brutal or hypocritical, maybe?

Spoiler for about Sion:

Sion is obviously crumbling under the weight of the reality he is facing versus the idealistic vision he once had before he became a king, with the last straw the apparent abandonment he now faces after widening the gap between him and Ryner & Ferris. My interest is actually piqued because of what seems like a split personality in him dealing with things, with some novel spoilers about that.

He is becoming a rather complex character to say the least.

Spoiler for about Ryner:

Again, his character development and consistency does not disappoint. There is more information on him as a child (though not much, but certain a delicious morsel as bait for viewers clamoring for more), and we see once again just how strong and frail he is at the same time. Lafra puts it across rather well even if Ryner considers it a simple self-reflection of Lafra's own desires.

The slight elaboration on his past makes me curious as to how he was during those days, and what kind of hellish training he went through to becoming the 'strongest magician of Roland'.

Spoiler for about Pink People:

I don't have much sympathy, unfortunately, for the apparently dying Sui. I doubt he will get killed off that easily, however, but after Tiia's flashback about the Pink Siblings, any sympathy and support for them and Riphal almost vaporised.

Lir looks like a very, very dangerous opponent, knowing that he very nearly killed Miran and Clau and defeated Tiia so easily. Looks like the Cursed Eyes group will have their hands full.

Spoiler for about Cursed Eyes:

A rather interesting turn of events, don't you think? Not unexpected, though. Just add the statement from Tiia ("Our friends are waiting") with the preview seen last episode, and you know a development like this will happen. The whole atmosphere, though, was rather different from what I expected, especially for Tiia. It's almost like 'dual personality' is the theme for some of our major characters here.

I'm also very interested in what's going to happen to them, considering that their nemesis is just about upon them. Will we see more children slaying again?

Spoiler for about relationships:

Not much on Ferris this episode, but the significant thing that connected her and Ryner was, of all things, dango. The dango uneaten by Ferris had a severe impact, accentuated even more by the backpacks she left beside the bench. It's hard to say why she left them there, but her giving up dango because of what looked like a downcast feeling was perhaps one of the most significant developments I've seen for Ferris.

Some might call it a sudden turnaround and a complete opposite reaction as to how she is supposed to act, given that she had cheerfully decided to grab the idiot that left and teach him a good lesson. However, I feel that her actions here made her more realistic. At first being unable to feel much emotion, and now doing things that might seem illogical even to her. If this doesn't provide more material for RynerxFerris shippers, I don't know what else in the episode will.

As for Ryner, his 'hate' of dango is probably how it reminds him of someone important to him. Not as significant as compared to Ferris (who values dango almost more than anything else), but certainly powerful enough, considering he always tries to distance himself from people.

Now that Kiefer has been sounded out, I'm wondering what this bodes for Riphal and her. While I don't like how Gastark's king is handling Alpha Stigma bearers, the possibility of him doing something negative to Kiefer isn't all that high, I hope.

I have a few gripes though, in how they skipped the story involving Luke, Miran and Milk completely and got us into this. Considering the material they might need to cover and time and budget constraints, that might just be forgivable if they showed us an awesome episode 20.

With the Dynamic Duo possibly working together again against two dangerous opponents, it just might be extremely satisfying.

Ahh...That touches on a very sensitive topic - Whether the ends justify the means. It is often considered that using force or war to bring peace is extremely contradictory and even hypocritical, but perhaps the only way that has been 'forced' upon kings such as Riphal and Sion who want to change the world for the better.

Ryner can't control his powers in the same fashion Tiir can. The Solver of All Equations makes him pretty much untouchable to anything.

Tiir can cannibalize opponents and consume magic on the fly. The other guy can read dreams at will. Ryner has mastered the magic reading inherent to all alpha stigma bearers but he has yet to gain full control of the "Solver."
