i don't think her past is the only thing sad about arietta,i mean,you kill her "mother" in the begining of the game,she keep running after ion,not knowing her beloved ion is dead nor why she was demoted from her position as fon master guardian,and get killed in the end,again,trying to get revenge for a false ion and her "mother".

I found that aspect to be very sad, since the game forces you to kill the "mother" and her eggs off. As for the Ion Gaiden manga

Spoiler for Quick summary dealing with Arietta:

Ion is introduce to Arietta by Van. When you first see Arietta's origin, she is in a steel collar being kept as a wild girl. When Ion meets her, she attacks him first and bites his hand. She looks into his eye and then backs away in fear. It shows Ion's eyes lighting up in delight. He tells Van that he will take her as a personal pet. It shows how Ion taught her to be civilized and how she became his guardian. The sad part of the manga is that Arietta carries around the skull of her "sister." She gives to skull to Ion and tells him that her "sister" protected her when she was little and that she hoped that the skull would provide some sort of protection to Ion. Then she says that she will protect him. When the original Ion is on his death bed, he informs Van to release Arietta from her position as guardian and reassign her to the God-Generals. In the last scene, it shows the Ion from the game giving a score reading while is shows Van standing by the original Ion's unmarked grave. Upon that grave is the sister skull that Arietta gave him.

In all aspects, the writers are probably going to do their own interpretations on the past for each God-Generals. As for how the anime looks, I am wondering if they are going to do the field of fonons in some of the fights.

We see Jade doing Indignation in the anime, but I am guessing he does that early to show his skills before they are sealed by Largo. I wonder how some of the fonic arts are going to be animated.

There is a manga Gaiden that gives you a very funny origin on how Anise met Dist. Plus, Dist gives Anise a nickname to try to match his.

One of the few voice actors I remember by name... Neuro's voice actor, after all.

All of the voice actors are the same as the game's, it seems, except for Ion and the duck, who are now voiced by Kobayashi Yumiko.
Hm? Asch and Luke, Ion and duck have the same voice actors...

Ooook...so from anime news network: it's yumiko kobayashi and she is doing the voice of black star in soul eater actually...

....As much as i love black star,seeing this had me really scared of what ion might sound like..

But it could fit sync quite well,even if i'll miss pikachu yelling "kore de todome da!"

As long as the saiyuus do a good job on their parts, I will not mind if a character where to sound a bit different. I hope that there are some great action sequences that occur in this anime. Anyone who has played the game pretty much knows the storyline, but I am wondering on how the writers will interpret it.

That promotional video stays true to the events in the game. Very nostalgic as well, especially when Karma started playing in the background.

Seeing Luke, Tear and the rest of the gang being given the full anime treatment definitely has caught my interest. The quality looks good too. I hope this goes for the rest of the series.

We could thank Bamco appointing Sunrise for the quality stuff. It's basically Bamco pulling the strings seeing they owned Sunrise and all. A cross within their entertainment division.

I'm excited for this. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and I hope this anime does justice to it, unlike other game-to-anime conversions. But, currently things are looking like they're in good hands. Hopefully a less ambiguous ending will be given for the anime, that is, if it stays true to the events of the game.

Just a quick question, did Bandai/Namco retain the same orchastra that did the game music to do the music of the anime? One of the reason that I enjoyed the game was for the music for both Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia.

Well, Motoi Sakuraba is still listed as the music composer of the anime. Hopefully this means that some of the more memorable pieces from the game get included in the series.

Personally, I hope the anime also uses Bump of Chicken's "Karma" for the opening.
