There's something people have to realize: when the doctor regenerates he really changes, it's not just cosmetic.

David Tennant's doctor was peace loving to the extreme (as was Christopher Eccleston's) and we got used to that for quite some time now. Matt Smith's doctor on the other hand is darker and they showed quite early that he no longer has any qualms with picking up a gun for example. Would we ever have seen the 10th put a gun against someone's head like the 11th did last episode? Not bloody likely!

But that also ties into that "loneliness" plot that they're starting to hint at (that james0246 has already mentioned) and I'm guessing that it'll only get worse before it gets better.

Interesting side note for Dinosaurs On A Spaceship. Rory's dad was played by the guy who played Arthur Weasley and Solomon was played by Filtch both from Harry Potter.

Well its been hinted really since last season that the Ponds were travelling less with hhim and lonliness did play a big part in 10ths stand as well. The Doctor needs companions not only for company but as Donna so famously said "to tell you to stop". Itll be interesting to see how 11 will change after Claire (?) Joins as his companion.

I thought people were forgetting about this thread.

Anyway, the Dinosaurs in a spaceship episode was a fun thing to watch and seeing Arthur Weasley and Filtch was kinda weird for me.

I love the Mercy episode since it gives some thoughts about redemption, justice and forgiveness.
The parallels between the Doctor, the Gunslinger and Jex show all three were good men who did bad things and whether they all deserve forgiveness for their actions.
Another plus was seeing Ben Browder aka John Crichton of Farscape again!

In related news:
Peter Jackson wants to direct an episode of Doctor Who. Make it happen, Moffat!

For the longest time I had only heard of Doctor Who, but now that my new roommate has the seasons on disks, we've been slowly watching them.

Although we're starting at the new series (the...9th Doctor? Christopher Eccleston.), but I'm finding it quite fascinating so far. We're going to end David Tennant's season after the weekend. The 2-parter with The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit is my favourite so far.

Consider me a newbie to this world though; I'm just a passerby who's enjoying himself with the series. :3

I agree White Manju Bun. Next week may be hard but we're definitely going to be in for a scare when, I think, the weeping angels come back!! I'm so excited!

Great episode the Power of Three. I love that they introduced the Brigadier's daughter, who also appears in the EU stories.

I had a laugh when Brian Cox and Sir Alan Sugar made a cameo.

Of course next episode will be the last appearance of the Ponds. ;_; : (

It was a good episode. I especially thought the moments of quiet when the Ponds were living in real life were well done. I did not see the online normalcy episodes, but I love seeing the Ponds in Real Life. Lots of fun.

That being said, as often with episodes featuring a monster of the week, the build-up was significantly better than the climax (there was, essentially, a magic button that fixed everything). Still, this was a very charming episode with plenty of fun bits and a nice build-up (especially for the finale next week).

Just thought I'd mention we watched "The Lazarus Experiment" today. Getting closer to catching up, and I'm still enjoying it. David Tennant's great fun; love his nice suit with Converse look.

To be perfectly honest I rather have short seasons with slightly longer waits and get nicely written and directed episodes with budget to spare than have them churn out 24 episodes per year with varying amounts of said ingredients.

Oh god I was okay until that Afterword...and then the tears started falling.

To me this was by far the best ending for companion(s) since New Who started. It was sad but actually uplifting. I couldn't ask for anything more.

I just hope that the new Doctor's companion will live up to the previous ones.

It was a beautiful ending if a sad one for the Ponds. But as it was said "Don't be alone Doctor". And I too hope his new companion brings something new to his travels.

Theyve never done 24 epis for a series, I think at most they run 13.

Besides the nicely atmospheric, bittersweet, and just a little scary conclusion to the Ponds/Williams story arc, I especially liked Melody/River's return. While I am not a big fan of their relationship, I definitely liked how River views her relationship with the Doctor, as well how she views the Doctor himself. It's nice to know that the writers actually came up with a legitimate reason for keeping her away from her hubby.
