The owl stops on Louise's shoulder and hit Louise's head with it's wings.
"What is with this owl?"
The owl was biting onto a letter. Louise took that from it. Recognizing the stamp pressed on it, Louise returns to a serious expression.
"What is this owl?"
Siesta peeks at it.
When Louise became serious, Saito inquired
"What is it?"
Checking in content, Louise scanned over the single piece of paper. Then Louise said
"Going back home is halted."
"What do you mean halted? Siesta even invited me...... I'm really disappointed, you know."
Saito asked seeing Louise go back to her own room and check her luggage that she had packed up for going back home.
Louise showed Saito the letter the owl had brought just now.
"No, I can't read the letters from here."
Louise sits straight on her bed and begins to talk.
"After the previous incident...... you know that hime-sama was depressed, right?"
Saito nodded. It was a tragic event. Her own dead lover......, was revived by her enemy and tried to kidnap her. It was obvious she would be depressed.
"I feel sorry for her...... But it seems she can't stay sunk in the abyss of sadness forever."
"What do you mean?"
Louise explained what was written in the letter.
Albion had given up on a proper invasion until their fleet was rebuilt, so they are trying to fight in an irregular way-Is what the cabinet had predicted, with Mazaline on the top of them. They can't have them cowardly attack Tristain from the inside by inciting revolt and rebellion throughout the town. Because Henrietta and her men feared such conspiracies, she was strengthening the maintenance of public order......
"It's fine to strengthen the public order, but what does she want you to do?"
"An intelligence gathering mission involving hiding myself. Is there any improper actions going on? What kind of rumors are being spread around by commoners?"
"Uwah, a spy!"
"Spy?"
"In my world, those type of information gathering jobs are called that."
"Huunn...... Anyways, it's basically spying, right......"
For some reason, Louise looked unsatisfied.
"What's wrong?"
"Well...... because isn't this plain?"
"No, isn't information important? My granfather said that the old Japan lost a war because they kept on ignoring information."
"What?"
"No, it's unrelated...... Well?"
In Henrietta's letter, there were directions to settle down at an inn in Tristania, hide her identity and do something like flower-selling, and collect all kinds of information being passed around by commoners. A note to pay back the expenses for the mission was enclosed.
"I see."
"That's why I'm rearranging my luggage. I can't bring so much clothes."
Louise pointed to her luggage that had gotten lighter by a bagful.
"So I have to work even though it's summer vacation......"
Saito muttered sadly.
"Stop dazing around. Come on, we're leaving now!"
After all of this happened, the two left for Tristania. In order to hide their social status, they could not use a coach. The horses at the academy were the academy's, so they could not use those. In the end, they walked.
Louise and Saito walked on the road under the scorching sun, heading towards Tristania. It takes two days to get there.
Looking reproachfully at the sun, Saito whispered
"Damn......, even though I should be at Siesta's house drinking cold water right now......"
"Don't complain! Come on! Walk!"
Louise, who had her familiar carry all of the luggage, shouted angrily.

I can onk read as far as the B-T translation is going along, which would be Volume 1 since they're missing 2 chapters in Volume 2, and are already started on Volume 5

The funny thing is that the Pope did learn the magic to send Saito to his own world through a book. It's a book owned by Louise called the "Shiso no Kitousho" or in english means "Ancester's Prayer Book". The book allows Void magic users to learn new magics when the time is right. The Pope just happens to learn the spell "World Portal" which makes a portal between Louise's world and Saito's world.
The Popes cause is to silence the Garia King: Joseph and to take back the elven "Holy Land" which he thinks rightfully belongs to the humans. Although it is only my opinion from reading the book, I think that the Pope is going to end up as an antagonist. Few hints would be his apparent perfection and his total disregard (or even rejoice) when he found out that his mother is dead. (Cared more about the ring that she had)

I would. Anime is just not truthful enough and skips too many stuff compared to the novels. Specially the second season.

If anime would have been following novels at least decent enough then yeah skipping might be a good idea, but sadly second season does such a crappy work on following novels that its simply out of question to skip that since you would be missing some important points from the novels later on.

hmm if i remember right about history if the pope here is fanatic enough he will become a real major villain....hmm i think his reas on for sending saito back is cause without saito louise is quite vunerable...*cough**cough* ...........also what the hell is with this holyland thing?? i mean hmmmmm whats so special about this "holyland" anyway that elves an the void users want it..unless somehow the holyland has a holy hell nuke on it

I really just want to read volume 8 for the emotional impact. To be honest, while I am interested in reading all of the novels, skipping to novel 8 then going back and doing 5, 6, and 7 would be fine.

Then again, I'm going crazy thinking that I'd have to wait until 2012 to read novel 8, considering the emotional impact that volume has

I'm pretty sure they don't intend on skipping to volume 8 and moving forward. More like doing volume 8 now, then continuing with 5, 6, and 7. You wouldn't miss out on anything.

Maybe I'm just not understanding why people are against having a translation of volume 8 done earlier.

Eh, some people just have a fixation of chronological or numerical order.

I took a really vague summary of 8, know nothing of 9 and 10, got a good summary of 11 and 12 and am currently waiting for a summary of 13. Since the translations are way back in the single digits, I will be waiting a while.

Volume 7:

Tristain and Germania fails…
Your enemy asks for a temporary ceasefire, and you agree?! Your enemy!
Because you gave them so much time, you completely lost, didn’t you?!
Sigh… And Henrietta too… Not exactly one of my favorite characters. Heck, even Guiche and Monmon are higher up the ranking. She attacks a powerful country and just stays and prays. She’s always been so amazingly dramatic since her first appearance.

Volume 8:

Saito has such absurd dreams…
Siesta proves to be stronger than Louise, who ended up depressed, tried to summon Saito, got really depressed, and would have successfully committed suicide if it wasn’t for Guiche’s sculpture.
Monmon and Guiche get some redemption… Until this volume, I only really thought of them as idiots (mostly Guiche here). But they were great this volume.
And Henrietta realizes how much damage she did… Sells almost everything she has to pay for war costs. Well… don’t really care, since I’m tired of her weeping/apologizing/whatevering. Though it’s not like the dead will come back because you sell your furniture…

Volume 9:

More breast jokes with Tiffania’s this time… Well, it was fun with Siesta leaving Saito to die.
Farewell to Tiffania…
And Saito becomes a chevalier! Amazing man! Let’s ignore Henrietta’s usual sobbing or apologizing and such and cheer for Saito!
*sheds a tear when Saito finds out Corbert dies*
I won’t complain about the name “Undine”… Even if I typically picture such as a female…
I can’t blame Louise for intruding, but I wish she would have left Saito alone to be swarmed by those first years. It’s so rare and… the guy’s so lucky! “Saito-sama” < - -
I worry about what Siesta is reading and being taught by those girls, but it’s great in its own way.
Sleipnier’s Ball was interesting. Disturbing that Marcone (whatever spelling) would have turned into a girl, but then again, so did Osmond. Lousie turned into Cattleya!
Another “Louise gets annoyed” moment with her seeing Henrietta and Saito kissing, though this was far more serious than those comedic moments. Muznitonirun (sp?) attacks again with gargoyles…
Very surprised when Corbert reappeared alive and destroyed most of the gargoyles, especially with that Ostrant-gou of his/Zerbest’s.
Though now that Tabitha has betrayed Joseph… Well, to the next volume!

Volume 10:

Finally… Almost a complete volume for Tabitha/Charlotte.
The Ostrant was pretty amazing, as expected of Colbert, and will be important later, most likely. Don’t really care much about Kirche going “Jean” all the time…
Really surprised when another Elf, Bidashal, appeared. And he really showed how amazing elves were with their special magic, senjyuu (先住) magic by completely defeating Tabitha and Sylpheed by himself without really doing anything. Too bad he’s being tricked by Joseph…
But really interesting… The founder and Void are considered a evil by the elves. Not only that, but the so-called holy land is considered “Satan’s Gate” by them. Maybe the founder and the holy land are not as holy as thought by the humans. No one has yet to see first hand, so no one can prove either point. Maybe Joseph will finally see first hand? Though on the other hand, the elves’ land is called “Sahara” and their hero is called “Anubis”… so I don’t really know how much to trust in their naming senses.
I almost pitied Joseph for a second, but then he started spouting lines about having Tabitha drink that elven potion to and the other crap, and I realized just how crazy he is… On the other hand… Tabitha’s dad sure was a kind man… Though like one said, kindness can sometimes be cruel…
As for the chapter “Uncertainty and Jealousy”… in one word from me:
Romanized JP- -> “okei~, Siesta ha watashi no yome ni nari~~masu~!”
Siesta=awesome. But I really wonder just how bad those books of hers really are…
Humanoid Sylpheed was… a surprise. The way she always ends her sentences is a tad annoying, but I’ll let that go… But those nobles sure are dense, not realizing Sylpheed=Irukuku…
Henrietta ends up capturing them… Since they escape in the end, I don’t feel like saying anything bad about her… Yareyare… Though thanks to her, Agnes finds the group and makes it bothersome again… Well, she finally stops trying to kill Colbert, so I guess it turned out well.
Not surprised Saito threw away his nobility, but quite a surprise from Louise. Yaah~~, she’s come a long way since the beginning.
Horrible troop morale=horrible troop performance=idiocy to the max=failure as soldiers. Well, they still have to get pass the elf anyways, who, as expected, was more than a challenge… Though Louise’s dispel was able to help Derflinger get pass Bidashal’s magic.
But in the end, after seeing “Satan’s power”, he leaves… and remains alive. I just hope he doesn’t remain at Joesph’s side.
Hero of Ivaldi’s story is strangely similar to Saito… But that’s what makes it interesting.
Oh, and nice to see the Orlean family butler again. I was wondering where he went.

Volume 11:

After an intermission at Zerbest’s, they have to go to Louise’s family again to meet Henrietta, who just has to bring Agnes along.
Louise’s mom is scary! *shiver*
Who would have though she was a legendary Manticore knight…
Well, Louise’s dad proves to love her daughter very much and Louise makes up with Henrietta. Agnes is still there.
Nice moment where Saito started crying, remembering Earth, but Louise had to come in and punish him…
Suddenly back at school… Saito is so popular… >_<
All of those first-years and maids… For no real reason, that Katie/Katy girl has gotten more appearances lately, though apparently she’s fine with anyone famous.
Kirche brainwashes Louise… More Siesta time is good! And what’s best was Saito’s very insensitive reaction… “A curtain” he said! Ahahaha! That was the best. More fun later as Siesta pokes on Louise while she was depressed that her Void couldn’t work. But that’s all because she used up all her energy, kind of serves her right for constantly punishing Saito.
That pope from Romaria appears…It seems he means well, but I can’t help but feel annoyed and discomforted by his great idea of gathering the Voids to reach the Holy Land. After all, no one knows this oh-so-great land, and it might as well be demonic. For such an important person, he sure knows how to risk his nation’s people’s lives… And then there’s Henrietta! Don’t agree with that boy! To get Saito to bring back Tiffania… Well, that’s that.
Hi, Mathilda. She’s lucky Tiffania was there, because if I was Saito, I’d make sure she could walk again… So she had been working to get money for Tiffania and kids. Great motivation, horrid ways to earn it. *smiles while pulling out weapons*
Joseph’s great giant golem toy comes out… Not sure what to say about the way it was defeated, but I’m used to it, I guess.
Poor Saito and his homesickness… To think that being a familiar could be so… restraining.

Volume 12:

Hmm… Somewhat pointless, but it was funny though.
The first part was meh… with that annoying Beatrice girl. The breast jokes on Tiffania was done too much though… Saito also manages to crash all of his popularity. I was slightly perplexed over the conclusion to the big fight between the Undines and Beatrice’s knights and Osmand’s lines, but I’ll not think too hard on that. Tiffania accidentally made Saito a dead man though…
The second part was a bit funnier. Saito stormed out on Louise (for good reason), but the other Undine members are busy being popular (Marcone was pathetic…). Well, being idiots, they ruin their own popularity. Best part has to be Saito worrying whether Tabitha was “in” or “out”.
Really enjoyed the third part, partly because it was a Siesta chapter and partly because the love potion/yuri was just
Jessica’s love potion was just… if I was Saito, in one word, awesome. Very funny and very impossible (normally). Siesta’s naked apron was also very “hyahoo~~!”
I sometimes do worry about Siesta’s surroundings though…


Volume 13:

An eventful volume.
Where to start…
First, the Pope. I am very wary of this boy. The first thing is how doomed he might end up. He plans to save the world and defeat Gallia by recovering a land that is known through legend and no one knows what is inside. If the holy land ended up being a horrible thing, he’s screwed. He has also shown to be far too detached. He obviously seems to consider his religion more important than his mother, where he found it okay she died because it was judgment and she deserved it. He also wants to use Saito for his own plans. Plus, he says he wants to negotiate with the Elves, but it is simply just threatening them with magic. Either way, I dislike him a lot. Never liked him since he appeared, because he just has way too much potential to be an antagonist. Yet at the same time, he’s supposed to be so “good”.
Next, Julio. His constant cheery demeanor just makes me angry… Overall, as Julio’s familiar, I don’t care about him.
Joseph still acts like a lunatic.
The new info about Void was interesting. Now that three familiars are revealed, this means that whoever Tiffania makes as a familiar would become the unknown familiar not recorded.

Anyways… I have a bad impression of Romaria. It seems far to immersed in religion to the point it’s scary.

Almost cried during the e-mail scene...

Spoiler for a few character thoughts:

Saito - Great character. He can be funny at times and serious at others. Can be pretty cool at times. He's one of my favorite male protagonists. Only thing I might complain about is how he's so~ attached to Louise, even though Siesta's better to him.

Louise - I don't hate her, but she really punishes him too much, hurts him too much, and acts like a tsundere too much, at times. She really has come a long way though...

Siesta - My most favorite character of the series. Besides for status, pretty much beats Louise in all categories: Her body is more fitting to her age than Louise's, she doesn't constantly half-kill Saito, has a great personality, etc.

Henrietta - ...Don't really care. Feels like a drama queen at times, invokes a war, promises to keep Saito out of harms way only to ask her to help the Pope against fighting Gallia, and actually agrees with that Pope. Bah... Wouldn't feel too sad if she died.

Victorio - Really wouldn't care if he died. Opinions in volume 13 thoughts.

Julio - Pisses me off...

Monmon/Guiche/Marcone - Until volume 8, I didn't real care much about them. But now, they've proven to be good characters. Marcone, not so much... He did, at first, think of killing that defected guy from Albion...

Joseph - Really screwed in the head, but easily very dangerous.

Colbert - Another great character.

The novel starts out with Henrietta visiting Romaria. Of course, along with her are various other people like Agnes and her squad. Pointless to note, Agnes wasn’t wearing her usual soldier clothes. Anyways, after lots of description about Romaria like how they don’t allow weapons into the city except for the Paladins (who ride Pegasus), Henrietta arrives at her destination, where Julio greets her and brings her to the Pope Victorio (Vittorio is how it is pronounced, but I think it is Victorio). At the moment, the Pope was sorting out books. The Pope had called Henrietta here (Romaria) to show her a “miracle”. He chants and uses Void on a mirror, revealing to her that he can use Void. Henrietta was so… amazed that she practically fell to her knees in front of the Pope.

Then the book goes back to the Magic Academy. The Undines’ were treated worse than bugs and forced to do physical labor because they peeked on the girls in volume 12. The guys whose popularity had gone up, even Marcone, loses all of the girls’ affections. Away from the tragedy, Saito was pouring tea for Louise and Siesta. No one except a few (Louise, Tabitha, Siesta) knew he had peeked along with the Undines, so Saito didn’t suffer from the bug treatment. Instead… he was forced to wear a maid outfit. It was Siesta’s idea because Louise’s punishments were too painful, so Siesta chose this, which she considered to look cute on Saito. Saito, having a bigger mouth than he needs, taunts Louise over the cream incident from volume 12, causing Louise to start fighting with him.
Meanwhile, Colbert and Osmand were talking. Colbert was denied permission to fly Ostrant to the East. Osmand also mentions a bad feeling of things to come…
Back to the main characters, Siesta had run out while Louise and Saito continued to fight. Anyways, Saito ends up playing around with Louise’s feelings and they manage to get into another “wonderful” mood. Just as Saito was about to unbutton Louise’s shirt, wind blew. It was Tabitha, who pointed out they had a guest. Tabitha was riding Sylpheed, by the way. The guest was Colbert.
Colbert talks about Saito going home. Siesta had come back too, by the way. Saito starts talking about perhaps staying in this world (making certain girls happy). Colbert somewhat disagrees with this though. Anyways, after Colbert finishes, he leaves. Saito leaves soon afterwards, after telling Louise he might be satisfied in this world. After he leaves, the ones left were Tabitha, Louise, and Siesta. Asking Tabitha, Louise finds out that she plans to stay in this room… and they get pissed off at each other and prepare to cast spells. Siesta gets between them and to calm them down, pours some wine out for them to drink. They start drinking……
Back to Saito, he had gone to Colbert’s lab. He gives his laptop to Colbert, who was drinking away. Seeing the laptop though, Colbert completely gets immersed in it. Saito also explains what it is.
Going back to his room, he finds Siesta and Tabitha drunk and asleep, and Louise still drinking. Louise’s speech was rather slurred too. Then they get into a good mood again, with them really getting kind of weird with each other (mostly because Saito decided that he can go a bit farther because she won’t remember anything since she’s drunk), but Saito sees something flying out the window. It shot an ice arrow at him. He charges at it with Derflinger, but he only realizes it was Rune/Lune after his attack. They have a quick reunion moment, but Rune quickly tells him he had a message from Henrietta.

It was a message telling him to brings Tiffania and Louise to Romaria. The Undines, Colbert, Tabitha, Kirche, Tiffania, and Louise ride the Ostrant to Romaria. On the way there, Louise and Saito get another good moment and start kissing, but they realize that Tabitha was there as well and most of the Undines were listening in from the outside. Needless to say, the atmosphere was ruined… Later that night, Tiffania worries about Romaria, who believed in that founder and were afraid of elves. If they found out she was an elf (half), it would be a lot worse than the case with Beatrice. But thinking about the fact that the orphans were probably trying their best too, she decided to prepare herself for the future hardships too.
Arriving at Romaria… things got bad almost right away. Romaria’s knights found the group suspicious (because meeting Henrietta was a secret). One tried to get Tiffania to take off her hat, but that would expose her ears and her identity. This crisis was avoided by Kirche distracting the guard long enough for Tabitha to use a square spell and change Tiffania’s facial features.
But… Saito didn’t know about Romaria’s no-arms law and walked in with Derflinger. The knights stopped him and threw off Derflinger. Because Derflinger had been stressed lately over not being talked to and such, he snapped and started insulting the knights and their religion. Things got chaotic and the Paladins branded the group as heretics. The whole group runs away with Sylpheed and “fly” spell, but the Paladins give chase on their Pegasus. Saito and co. manage to hide at a bar where they put up barricade. Soon, the Paladins start attacking. They soon start casting these powerful elemental spells. Tabitha manages to weaken the first spell, but she runs out of MP. The next spell by the Paladins is weakened by Colbert, but he runs out of MP afterwards. With these two out of power, everyone decides to count on Louise. Saito goes and blocks the next attack while Louise chants. But her spell failed… it seems she doesn’t have enough energy stored up. She usually stores up energy through jealousy and anger, but she has been too happy recently…The Paladins break through the barricade and charge after casting Blade. Fight follows, but is soon stopped when Julio, who had been hiding in disguise in the bar, reveals himself merrily and tells everyone he set up the whole thing. He greets Louise and Tiffania.

Now at the palace, Louise, Saito, and Tiffania are eating with Victorio, Julio, and Henrietta while the others eat at a different spot. The Pope reveals to them all that Julio is his familiar, Vindalf. He then reveals his intentions to take back the holy land from the Elves with the power of Void. Saito is against it, as well as Tiffania and Louise. Saito thinks it isn’t right to fight the Elves, but the Pope and Henrietta says that they are rulers of their own country and they must think about their civilians first and that they can’t make everyone happy with their small hands. They say they aren’t going to fight, but just to negotiate by showing the Elves the power of Void. Even so, Saito disagrees. Next, the Pope reveals his plan to lure Joseph and his familiar out with the Voids as bait. Saito agrees to this because he can’t forgive the guy for all he’s did. Tiffania also agrees, but Louise doesn’t. Her thought was that Saito would be put in the most danger. Louise can’t use Void at the moment, Henrietta and Victorio has no battle experience, and Julio was strong, but as a familiar, he was just Vindalf. The Pope gives them time to think about it because he knew they couldn’t make up their mind right away.

The next morning, Saito woke up earlier than Louise. Julio came and brought him to the underground catacombs. Here, Julio showed Saito a massive collection of weapons from his world, from guns to cannons to tanks. Julio also tells Saito that they were found near the Holy Land and that Romaria has met people from his world before too. Afterwards, he leaves with Saito.
Meanwhile, Agnes and Colbert meet with Victorio. Agnes inquires if he knows a woman named “Victoria” (Victoria was the woman that was found by Agnes’ village, sheltered, and was the reason for the massacre). The Pope says that she is his mother. Following this, Colbert hands Victorio the Ruby of Fire, which he had gotten after burning down Agnes’ village. Victorio puts it on his hand and looks at it preciously. Colbert asks him to punish him because he burnt and killed his mother, but Victorio says that he’d rather thank him for bringing back the Ruby. Later, the Undines are practicing because they have been told that someone is aiming at the Pope and they need to watch out. Of course, they have not been told about Void. Guiche, the only one there who also knew about the enemy, talked with Saito about his worries since the previous fight with the Jormungant.
When the Undines finished, they went for lunch. Louise was there and she drags Saito into the hallway to talk to him. She argues with him about treasuring himself more and also about going home, but Saito also says how in this world, he learned what it meant to fight for someone’s sake. Either way, their conversation is interrupted by Agnes, who tells Louise to come to the Pope with the Founder’s Prayer Book. After Louise leaves, Colbert comes running up to Saito and tells him the laptop was working.
Louise enters the room the Pope was waiting in, where Henrietta, Tiffania, and Julio were also there. The Pope explains that like the four elements of magic, Void has categories too. For instance, Louise’s Void would be “Offense/Attack”. He also explains that the Founder’s Prayer Book gives different users different spells when the user wears their Ruby and opens it and the time is right. Henrietta hands Tiffania her Ruby of Wind and the Book. Tiffania didn’t find any new spells… seems the time isn’t right. Next, Victorio, now with his Ruby of Fire, does the same. A page glitters and reveals a spell, “World Door”. He begins to chant.
Back to Saito, Colbert had explained how to get the laptop working again and Saito hugged him in excitement. Having started the computer, Colbert asks to see the internet. Saito doubts he will get a connection, but tries anyways.
Back to the Pope, he completes the spell and casts it. A dot forms… and becomes a mirror. Looking into the mirror, Louise and Tiffania took a heavy shock in what they saw… It was Saito’s world. The mirror quickly disappeared though. Louise decided to run out and tell Saito. But she is stopped by Henrietta, Victorio, and Julio. They tell her that it would be bothersome if she told him because he would lose all reason to help them retrieve the holy land. They tell her that whether she tells him or not, the choice is understandable and is not wrong. (They tell her she has a choice, but they try to convince her not to because they need Saito’s power as Gandalf to help them).
Back to Saito, the internet had connected. He opens the mail and numerous ones from friends and family pop up. He opens the last one, which turned out to be from his mother. He read it, then the next, and so on and started crying. Colbert asks what is it, and Saito says it was mail, a letter from his mother. Understanding the situation, Colbert leaves the room.
Now, Louise is running towards Saito. She had decided not to tell him. She sees Colbert standing in front of the room. Colbert has her look in and explains the situation. Louise took a deep shock because she had believed Saito’s lie that he had no family. She runs off. When she gets to her bed, she thinks about can she do for him.

When Saito wakes up, he realizes that he had cried himself to sleep and Colbert was sleeping in the bed. Leaving the laptop, he leaves and goes back to Louise’s room. When he entered, he saw her in casual clothing. She turns and smiles at him and asks him to go with her to the streets of Romaria. Saito was scared of this Louise, because she was so cheerful, so he taunted her the usual way (breasts). Seeing that she didn’t get mad, he became suspicious, but Louise ended up convincing him she was doing it as a reward and because he will be fighting Gallia tomorrow. They go through a wonderful day. After getting back to the palace and calming down, Saito starts wondering why she did this, again. Louise comes and pours him some water, in which he gulps down right away. He then asks her why she did this. After hearing her say a few words, he was hit with sleepiness all of a sudden.
He had been drugged by a sleeping potion. Louise kisses him while he’s unconscious. Then she places him on the bed and turns around towards Julio, who was standing there at the door. She and he agrees on that the World Door would be open up, but in exchange, Louise would do whatever Romaria/Pope plans. Julio than tells her to follow him because with Saito gone, they would need a change in plans. On the way out, Louise turned around once and said “Goodbye, my most important person.”

In Epilogue, we are taken to Joseph. He was looking at a blue rose in his garden with Moliere. She asks him why he wanted a blue rose. She wanted him to say it was for her, but instead, he says it was to destroy it. She starts crying, surprising Joseph. He was even more surprised when she said that she really did love him and wasn’t after his fortune/throne. He hugs her. Moliere was happy for a moment, until she realized he had stabbed her through with a sword. She drops dead and he lights the garden on fire. Sheffield comes out. Joseph says that when a person kills someone he loves, he is supposed to feel pain. Sheffield asks “Do you?”. Obviously, Joseph says no. Joseph then commands his troops to go to Romaria and crush EVERYTHING. They didn’t understand what he was talking about, but eventually decided to follow his orders after he says he’ll give them Romaria. He had already created 10 Jorgunmants. Afterwards, he rants and laughs “innocently like an angel”.

Saito has such absurd dreams…
Siesta proves to be stronger than Louise, who ended up depressed, tried to summon Saito, got really depressed, and would have successfully committed suicide if it wasn’t for Guiche’s sculpture.
Monmon and Guiche get some redemption… Until this volume, I only really thought of them as idiots (mostly Guiche here). But they were great this volume.
And Henrietta realizes how much damage she did… Sells almost everything she has to pay for war costs. Well… don’t really care, since I’m tired of her weeping/apologizing/whatevering. Though it’s not like the dead will come back because you sell your furniture…

Volume 9:

More breast jokes with Tiffania’s this time… Well, it was fun with Siesta leaving Saito to die.

And Saito becomes a chevalier! Amazing man! Let’s ignore Henrietta’s usual sobbing or apologizing and such and cheer for Saito!

I won’t complain about the name “Undine”… Even if I typically picture such as a female…
I can’t blame Louise for intruding, but I wish she would have left Saito alone to be swarmed by those first years. It’s so rare and… the guy’s so lucky! “Saito-sama” < - -
I worry about what Siesta is reading and being taught by those girls, but it’s great in its own way.
Sleipnier’s Ball was interesting. Disturbing that Marcone (whatever spelling) would have turned into a girl, but then again, so did Osmond. Lousie turned into Cattleya!
Another “Louise gets annoyed” moment with her seeing Henrietta and Saito kissing, though this was far more serious than those comedic moments. Muznitonirun (sp?) attacks again with gargoyles…
Very surprised when Corbert reappeared alive and destroyed most of the gargoyles, especially with that Ostrant-gou of his/Zerbest’s.
Though now that Tabitha has betrayed Joseph… Well, to the next volume!

Volume 10:

Finally… Almost a complete volume for Tabitha/Charlotte.
The Ostrant was pretty amazing, as expected of Colbert, and will be important later, most likely. Don’t really care much about Kirche going “Jean” all the time…
Really surprised when another Elf, Bidashal, appeared. And he really showed how amazing elves were with their special magic, senjyuu (先住) magic by completely defeating Tabitha and Sylpheed by himself without really doing anything. Too bad he’s being tricked by Joseph…
But really interesting… The founder and Void are considered a evil by the elves. Not only that, but the so-called holy land is considered “Satan’s Gate” by them. Maybe the founder and the holy land are not as holy as thought by the humans. No one has yet to see first hand, so no one can prove either point. Maybe Joseph will finally see first hand? Though on the other hand, the elves’ land is called “Sahara” and their hero is called “Anubis”… so I don’t really know how much to trust in their naming senses.
I almost pitied Joseph for a second, but then he started spouting lines about having Tabitha drink that elven potion to and the other crap, and I realized just how crazy he is… On the other hand… Tabitha’s dad sure was a kind man… Though like one said, kindness can sometimes be cruel…
As for the chapter “Uncertainty and Jealousy”… in one word from me:
Romanized JP- -> “okei~, Siesta ha watashi no yome ni nari~~masu~!”
Siesta=awesome. But I really wonder just how bad those books of hers really are…
Humanoid Sylpheed was… a surprise. The way she always ends her sentences is a tad annoying, but I’ll let that go… But those nobles sure are dense, not realizing Sylpheed=Irukuku…
Henrietta ends up capturing them… Since they escape in the end, I don’t feel like saying anything bad about her… Yareyare… Though thanks to her, Agnes finds the group and makes it bothersome again… Well, she finally stops trying to kill Colbert, so I guess it turned out well.
Not surprised Saito threw away his nobility, but quite a surprise from Louise. Yaah~~, she’s come a long way since the beginning.
Horrible troop morale=horrible troop performance=idiocy to the max=failure as soldiers. Well, they still have to get pass the elf anyways, who, as expected, was more than a challenge… Though Louise’s dispel was able to help Derflinger get pass Bidashal’s magic.
But in the end, after seeing “Satan’s power”, he leaves… and remains alive. I just hope he doesn’t remain at Joesph’s side.
Hero of Ivaldi’s story is strangely similar to Saito… But that’s what makes it interesting.
Oh, and nice to see the Orlean family butler again. I was wondering where he went.

Volume 11:

After an intermission at Zerbest’s, they have to go to Louise’s family again to meet Henrietta, who just has to bring Agnes along.
Louise’s mom is scary! *shiver*
Who would have though she was a legendary Manticore knight…
Well, Louise’s dad proves to love her daughter very much and Louise makes up with Henrietta. Agnes is still there.
Nice moment where Saito started crying, remembering Earth, but Louise had to come in and punish him…
Suddenly back at school… Saito is so popular… >_<
All of those first-years and maids… For no real reason, that Katie/Katy girl has gotten more appearances lately, though apparently she’s fine with anyone famous.
Kirche brainwashes Louise… More Siesta time is good! And what’s best was Saito’s very insensitive reaction… “A curtain” he said! Ahahaha! That was the best. More fun later as Siesta pokes on Louise while she was depressed that her Void couldn’t work. But that’s all because she used up all her energy, kind of serves her right for constantly punishing Saito.
That pope from Romaria appears…It seems he means well, but I can’t help but feel annoyed and discomforted by his great idea of gathering the Voids to reach the Holy Land. After all, no one knows this oh-so-great land, and it might as well be demonic. For such an important person, he sure knows how to risk his nation’s people’s lives… And then there’s Henrietta! Don’t agree with that boy! To get Saito to bring back Tiffania… Well, that’s that.
Hi, Mathilda. She’s lucky Tiffania was there, because if I was Saito, I’d make sure she could walk again… So she had been working to get money for Tiffania and kids. Great motivation, horrid ways to earn it. *smiles while pulling out weapons*
Joseph’s great giant golem toy comes out… Not sure what to say about the way it was defeated, but I’m used to it, I guess.
Poor Saito and his homesickness… To think that being a familiar could be so… restraining.

Volume 12:

Hmm… Somewhat pointless, but it was funny though.
The first part was meh… with that annoying Beatrice girl. The breast jokes on Tiffania was done too much though… Saito also manages to crash all of his popularity. I was slightly perplexed over the conclusion to the big fight between the Undines and Beatrice’s knights and Osmand’s lines, but I’ll not think too hard on that. Tiffania accidentally made Saito a dead man though…
The second part was a bit funnier. Saito stormed out on Louise (for good reason), but the other Undine members are busy being popular (Marcone was pathetic…). Well, being idiots, they ruin their own popularity. Best part has to be Saito worrying whether Tabitha was “in” or “out”.
Really enjoyed the third part, partly because it was a Siesta chapter and partly because the love potion/yuri was just
Jessica’s love potion was just… if I was Saito, in one word, awesome. Very funny and very impossible (normally). Siesta’s naked apron was also very “hyahoo~~!”
I sometimes do worry about Siesta’s surroundings though…


Volume 13:

An eventful volume.
Where to start…
First, the Pope. I am very wary of this boy. The first thing is how doomed he might end up. He plans to save the world and defeat Gallia by recovering a land that is known through legend and no one knows what is inside. If the holy land ended up being a horrible thing, he’s screwed. He has also shown to be far too detached. He obviously seems to consider his religion more important than his mother, where he found it okay she died because it was judgment and she deserved it. He also wants to use Saito for his own plans. Plus, he says he wants to negotiate with the Elves, but it is simply just threatening them with magic. Either way, I dislike him a lot. Never liked him since he appeared, because he just has way too much potential to be an antagonist. Yet at the same time, he’s supposed to be so “good”.
Next, Julio. His constant cheery demeanor just makes me angry… Overall, as Julio’s familiar, I don’t care about him.
Joseph still acts like a lunatic.
The new info about Void was interesting. Now that three familiars are revealed, this means that whoever Tiffania makes as a familiar would become the unknown familiar not recorded.

Anyways… I have a bad impression of Romaria. It seems far to immersed in religion to the point it’s scary.

Saito - Great character. He can be funny at times and serious at others. Can be pretty cool at times. He's one of my favorite male protagonists. Only thing I might complain about is how he's so~ attached to Louise, even though Siesta's better to him.

Louise - I don't hate her, but she really punishes him too much, hurts him too much, and acts like a tsundere too much, at times. She really has come a long way though...

Siesta - My most favorite character of the series. Besides for status, pretty much beats Louise in all categories: Her body is more fitting to her age than Louise's, she doesn't constantly half-kill Saito, has a great personality, etc.

Henrietta - ...Don't really care. Feels like a drama queen at times, invokes a war, promises to keep Saito out of harms way only to ask her to help the Pope against fighting Gallia, and actually agrees with that Pope. Bah... Wouldn't feel too sad if she died.

Victorio - Really wouldn't care if he died. Opinions in volume 13 thoughts.

Julio - Pisses me off...

Monmon/Guiche/Marcone - Until volume 8, I didn't real care much about them. But now, they've proven to be good characters. Marcone, not so much... He did, at first, think of killing that defected guy from Albion...

Joseph - Really screwed in the head, but easily very dangerous.

Colbert - Another great character.

The novel starts out with Henrietta visiting Romaria. Of course, along with her are various other people like Agnes and her squad. Pointless to note, Agnes wasn’t wearing her usual soldier clothes. Anyways, after lots of description about Romaria like how they don’t allow weapons into the city except for the Paladins (who ride Pegasus), Henrietta arrives at her destination, where Julio greets her and brings her to the Pope Victorio (Vittorio is how it is pronounced, but I think it is Victorio). At the moment, the Pope was sorting out books. The Pope had called Henrietta here (Romaria) to show her a “miracle”. He chants and uses Void on a mirror, revealing to her that he can use Void. Henrietta was so… amazed that she practically fell to her knees in front of the Pope.

Then the book goes back to the Magic Academy. The Undines’ were treated worse than bugs and forced to do physical labor because they peeked on the girls in volume 12. The guys whose popularity had gone up, even Marcone, loses all of the girls’ affections. Away from the tragedy, Saito was pouring tea for Louise and Siesta. No one except a few (Louise, Tabitha, Siesta) knew he had peeked along with the Undines, so Saito didn’t suffer from the bug treatment. Instead… he was forced to wear a maid outfit. It was Siesta’s idea because Louise’s punishments were too painful, so Siesta chose this, which she considered to look cute on Saito. Saito, having a bigger mouth than he needs, taunts Louise over the cream incident from volume 12, causing Louise to start fighting with him.
Meanwhile, Colbert and Osmand were talking. Colbert was denied permission to fly Ostrant to the East. Osmand also mentions a bad feeling of things to come…
Back to the main characters, Siesta had run out while Louise and Saito continued to fight. Anyways, Saito ends up playing around with Louise’s feelings and they manage to get into another “wonderful” mood. Just as Saito was about to unbutton Louise’s shirt, wind blew. It was Tabitha, who pointed out they had a guest. Tabitha was riding Sylpheed, by the way. The guest was Colbert.
Colbert talks about Saito going home. Siesta had come back too, by the way. Saito starts talking about perhaps staying in this world (making certain girls happy). Colbert somewhat disagrees with this though. Anyways, after Colbert finishes, he leaves. Saito leaves soon afterwards, after telling Louise he might be satisfied in this world. After he leaves, the ones left were Tabitha, Louise, and Siesta. Asking Tabitha, Louise finds out that she plans to stay in this room… and they get pissed off at each other and prepare to cast spells. Siesta gets between them and to calm them down, pours some wine out for them to drink. They start drinking……
Back to Saito, he had gone to Colbert’s lab. He gives his laptop to Colbert, who was drinking away. Seeing the laptop though, Colbert completely gets immersed in it. Saito also explains what it is.
Going back to his room, he finds Siesta and Tabitha drunk and asleep, and Louise still drinking. Louise’s speech was rather slurred too. Then they get into a good mood again, with them really getting kind of weird with each other (mostly because Saito decided that he can go a bit farther because she won’t remember anything since she’s drunk), but Saito sees something flying out the window. It shot an ice arrow at him. He charges at it with Derflinger, but he only realizes it was Rune/Lune after his attack. They have a quick reunion moment, but Rune quickly tells him he had a message from Henrietta.

It was a message telling him to brings Tiffania and Louise to Romaria. The Undines, Colbert, Tabitha, Kirche, Tiffania, and Louise ride the Ostrant to Romaria. On the way there, Louise and Saito get another good moment and start kissing, but they realize that Tabitha was there as well and most of the Undines were listening in from the outside. Needless to say, the atmosphere was ruined… Later that night, Tiffania worries about Romaria, who believed in that founder and were afraid of elves. If they found out she was an elf (half), it would be a lot worse than the case with Beatrice. But thinking about the fact that the orphans were probably trying their best too, she decided to prepare herself for the future hardships too.
Arriving at Romaria… things got bad almost right away. Romaria’s knights found the group suspicious (because meeting Henrietta was a secret). One tried to get Tiffania to take off her hat, but that would expose her ears and her identity. This crisis was avoided by Kirche distracting the guard long enough for Tabitha to use a square spell and change Tiffania’s facial features.
But… Saito didn’t know about Romaria’s no-arms law and walked in with Derflinger. The knights stopped him and threw off Derflinger. Because Derflinger had been stressed lately over not being talked to and such, he snapped and started insulting the knights and their religion. Things got chaotic and the Paladins branded the group as heretics. The whole group runs away with Sylpheed and “fly” spell, but the Paladins give chase on their Pegasus. Saito and co. manage to hide at a bar where they put up barricade. Soon, the Paladins start attacking. They soon start casting these powerful elemental spells. Tabitha manages to weaken the first spell, but she runs out of MP. The next spell by the Paladins is weakened by Colbert, but he runs out of MP afterwards. With these two out of power, everyone decides to count on Louise. Saito goes and blocks the next attack while Louise chants. But her spell failed… it seems she doesn’t have enough energy stored up. She usually stores up energy through jealousy and anger, but she has been too happy recently…The Paladins break through the barricade and charge after casting Blade. Fight follows, but is soon stopped when Julio, who had been hiding in disguise in the bar, reveals himself merrily and tells everyone he set up the whole thing. He greets Louise and Tiffania.

Now at the palace, Louise, Saito, and Tiffania are eating with Victorio, Julio, and Henrietta while the others eat at a different spot. The Pope reveals to them all that Julio is his familiar, Vindalf. He then reveals his intentions to take back the holy land from the Elves with the power of Void. Saito is against it, as well as Tiffania and Louise. Saito thinks it isn’t right to fight the Elves, but the Pope and Henrietta says that they are rulers of their own country and they must think about their civilians first and that they can’t make everyone happy with their small hands. They say they aren’t going to fight, but just to negotiate by showing the Elves the power of Void. Even so, Saito disagrees. Next, the Pope reveals his plan to lure Joseph and his familiar out with the Voids as bait. Saito agrees to this because he can’t forgive the guy for all he’s did. Tiffania also agrees, but Louise doesn’t. Her thought was that Saito would be put in the most danger. Louise can’t use Void at the moment, Henrietta and Victorio has no battle experience, and Julio was strong, but as a familiar, he was just Vindalf. The Pope gives them time to think about it because he knew they couldn’t make up their mind right away.

Seeing that she didn’t get mad, he became suspicious, but Louise ended up convincing him she was doing it as a reward and because he will be fighting Gallia tomorrow. They go through a wonderful day. After getting back to the palace and calming down, Saito starts wondering why she did this, again. Louise comes and pours him some water, in which he gulps down right away. He then asks her why she did this. After hearing her say a few words, he was hit with sleepiness all of a sudden.
He had been drugged by a sleeping potion. Louise kisses him while he’s unconscious. Then she places him on the bed and turns around towards Julio, who was standing there at the door. She and he agrees on that the World Door would be open up, but in exchange, Louise would do whatever Romaria/Pope plans. Julio than tells her to follow him because with Saito gone, they would need a change in plans. On the way out, Louise turned around once and said “Goodbye, my most important person.”

In Epilogue, we are taken to Joseph. He was looking at a blue rose in his garden with Moliere. She asks him why he wanted a blue rose. She wanted him to say it was for her, but instead, he says it was to destroy it. She starts crying, surprising Joseph. He was even more surprised when she said that she really did love him and wasn’t after his fortune/throne. He hugs her. Moliere was happy for a moment, until she realized he had stabbed her through with a sword. She drops dead and he lights the garden on fire. Sheffield comes out. Joseph says that when a person kills someone he loves, he is supposed to feel pain. Sheffield asks “Do you?”. Obviously, Joseph says no. Joseph then commands his troops to go to Romaria and crush EVERYTHING. They didn’t understand what he was talking about, but eventually decided to follow his orders after he says he’ll give them Romaria. He had already created 10 Jorgunmants. Afterwards, he rants and laughs “innocently like an angel”.

Last thing:

If someone from Baka-Tsuki is here, two corrections on the titles:

The Flame Red Jewel of Atonement --> The Ruby of Atonement
It does indeed say "Flame Red Jewel", but the furigana above the kanji says "Ruby".
I guess it's more of a translator's choice.


The Door of the Holy Land --> The Holy Country's World Door/The World Door of the Holy Country

世界扉=Definitely is "World Door"

Hmm... I think it won't end soon (or at least the next volume), because there is still quite a bit left to do.

-Defeat Joseph
-Revelation of the "Holy Land"
-Elves
-Pope and his idiotic plan
-Saito and his world

Also, the author says that there is still more to go for the series in the afternotes.
Of course, he doesn't necessarily have to go through it all.

Though I do want the series to end with Saito going back and staying in his world.

Though from the end of volume 13 (since Saito didn't actually go back to his world yet), possibly:

-Saito goes back to his world and comes back <--...Kind of don't want this...
-Saito stays in his world and the story focuses on the remaining characters
-Julio lies and Saito doesn't make it back to his world <--Why is it that this seems likely...
-The World Door doesn't work/Pope does something...
