Taiga confessing to Yūsaku only to be told they he wants to just be friends. Brutal. At least Ryūji was there for her which I suspect will be the case more and more as the series goes on. I never read the manga hence I don't know how it's supposed to progress. I want to keep it a mystery I suppose.

Production was constant, but I felt that it was the timeline was too packed, and a lot of both Taiga's and Ryujii's character development were lost.
A lot was "lost", but the animation and voice acting are still so enjoyable that I'll give it an 8

I thought the episode, in and of itself, was actually better than the first one. Can't comment on the faithfulness to the source material, but I'm loving this series so far. Taiga's rejection was just sad and awesome at the same time. Let's see how this goes.

I'd throw a "9" except that Taiga's vulnerability during scenes like the cookie giving or the confession scene were really well communicated (as was Ryuuji's supportiveness). So from an anime-only standpoint, I thought it was worth a "10".
Kitamura seemed to understand quite clearly Taiga's subconscious mixed feelings during the confession by the way he noted how she talked about Ryuuji. It was a shame the dialog only inferred what had happened between them a year earlier. The nice thing here is that we've hurdled past the "usual tsundere cliche plotline" and move directly to the "partners in crime" where events less often seen in romance comedy happen.

at the end of the episode Taiga smile as she says "he called me Taiga" she called Ryuji by his first name in the first episode.
I thought it was rude in Japanese culture to call someone by their first name unless they were really close. Why does she seem so happy because of this? |

Besides, the way Ryuuji did it seemed more like establishing a pact or a bond of trust or something. Also she called him Ryuuji in the first episode, which he commented on. :P
