So lemme get this straight because I've been away for a while and I'm a bit confused. All of the Higurashi games are gonna be released by Mangagamer or is it just some of them? When are they getting released and does anyone have a clue on prices?

Thanks! If that's true, then I already know what I'm getting for christmas.

My love for visual novels grew after playing Lost Odyssey for the 360. There's about 30+ short vizual novel stories and they were absolutely fantastic.

They are relatively cheap since they are done by doujin-groups, so around let's say between $20 & $30, But the Umineko one was like $32. Really put a dent in my wallet WITH shipping costs.

No mangagamer will have a MUCH higher price for the higurashi games than that just as they have for every other game, TT__TT.

All of Mangagamer's games are voiced, which is going to raise prices. (Either they're paying royalties to the actors, or the price of the license was higher to reflect the games' higher prices of production.)

Also, IIRC, the artwork is sprites and photographs, not the CGs most of the other games have, and it was done by Ryu, so royalties on that will be low / nonexistent.

(Unless they licensed the voices and artwork from the PS2 version. Then I would expect a high price.)

Uhm...mangagamer's games are voiced because the original Japanese versions are voiced. Higurashi has no voices. Well, the original, at least.

Even though MangaGamer's releasing Higurashi in English, I still think I'm just gonna get the authentic Japanese version (I've always wanted to say that. XD). It'll probably be cheaper than MG's, plus I know for sure that I'd get Ryukishi07's art and backgrounds.

I realize that Mangagamer's games are voiced because the originals were voiced. (If Mangagamer were dubbing them, they'd have dubbed into English.)
My point was that those games were more expensive to produce in the first place, which would increase what Mangagamer paid Circus / Navel / Tarte to license them, and is ultimately reflected in the final price. Higurashi was much cheaper to produce, so should be correspondingly cheaper for us.

Also, I looked up some of the games on erogeshop, and they had comparable or higher prices to what Mangagamer wanted.

So far, only Onikakushi-hen and the first chapter of Watanagashi-hen are translated. There's also a patch for Rei which is a rough translation of Saikoroshi-hen.
