I don't really care what you said, but your signature is wrong in two places.

Let 'a' and 'b' be any number, and let a +b = t. Then
a +b = t; (a + b)(a - b) = t(a - b); a² - b² = ta - tb
a² - ta = b² - tb; a² - ta + t²/4 = b² - tb + t²/4
(a - t/2)² = (b - t/2)²; a - t/2 = b - t/2

Subtract t/2 from both sides, and you end up with,...

a = b !!!!!!"

At the two bold points it's incorrect. (a + b)(a - b) = t(a - b) That doesn't equal itself.
Also, Subtract, you would add, not subtract t/2.
Moreover, why do you have that in your sig?

The proof is correct until
(a - t/2)² = (b - t/2)²; a - t/2 = b - t/2

Most likely, either (a - t/2) or (b - t/2) will be negative. And you can't take the square root of a negative in the real number system.

While your on the right track you got it wrong. it is at the (a - t/2)² = (b - t/2)² step that things go wrong. the correct equation after that, however, would be |a - t/2| = |b - t/2| which does work. the reason for this is because when taking a square root two values are possible, for example the square root of 4 equals both 2 and -2. Therefore, when you take the square root of (a - t/2)² = (b - t/2)² either (a - t/2)² or (b - t/2)² will be both the positive and negative answers because the is imposible you must take the absolute value of both which will eliminate the problem. this better be right because i spent an entire period figuring it out, but if it is wrong make sure to tell me.
