Hi,

I'm new to this anime, but one thing I'm really, really confused on.

In episode one/two, when Rin first saves Shiro from Lancer, she dosen't see his face after he's been basically killed, and says "the least I can do is sit with you while you die" but when she sees his face due to moving slightly, she says "why? why does it have to be you of all people" but I'm confused as from what I gather they didn't even know each other, so why was she so emotional about someone she's never met?

Anyone who can clear that up for me I would really be appreciative too.

Because she already knows him, although only from a distance. This will probably be partially explained later on in the anime (I'm not sure, because I've never actually watched the anime and I can't recall what exactly is shown in the Fate route of the Visual Novel either), and it's certainly explained in the Visual Novel which FSN is based on.

The Visual Novel shows that there are several reasons why she's upset about his death.

Spoiler for Heaven's Feel route and Sakura:

Firstly, she knows that Sakura loves Shirou and he makes her smile, and since Sakura is her sister she doesn't want Sakura to be upset, and secondly she has had a minor crush on Shirou for four years or so, ever since she saw him jumping over a bar in the school playground.

There's a lot of stuff that is a mystery early on but you can piece together as the anime goes on, and figure more out if you dig into the game.

I wouldn't look for spoilers or anything about it yet. :P

Well, like I said, I'm not sure that the anime ever does explain that, because in the game I think it's mainly explained in HF (and partially in UBW).

You can still surmise that for some reason, he is special to her for some reason and because of that, she saves him. I don't know if it's ever addressed in the anime. It may have been in the movie, but my memory is foggy there. As for the game, I do believe it is revealed exactly why at the very end of the second route, Unlimited Blade Works.

So, play the game at some point in your life.

No, UBW doesn't reveal the true reason why she cares about him so much, although I believe it does hint at part of it.

Well, that's not actually certain, because there's no canon information on that fact, but it seems unlikely that it would have, and even if it had

Before Alter Saber and Rider did their beam attacks Shirou was given the choice of stabbing Alter Saber at an ealier point. Choosing to stab her earlier would've resulted in him succeding but it simply having no effect. Shirou could've used Rule Breaker at that point and freed her and, had he bothered to ask how, could've formed a contract with her again. Or even Ilya if they asked...

I just realized when Shirou first saw Berserker and registered his stats, Berserker didn't have the mad enhancement boost active.

Does that mean the stats that are shown = Berserker without mad enhancement?

In Heaven's Feel, when Rider... erm, 'mana drains' Shirou. Is it purely a dream thing, or is she actually physically there in the room having sex with him?
