Whatever the reason, I feel very sad for this series for that. It has solid direction, charming characters and captivating story, but it seems that it would be a financial failure at this rate. (Unlike that cheesy melodrama that use all the music from the VN...) oh well must advoid a war in this forum.

Anyways, do you think the sale might get better later on? I remember the sale for Chihayafuru did increase dramatically for later releases. (It is still pretty low)

This is awesome. In a really bad, and sad way. The things people do in the name of nationalism... hahah

It wasn't doing well in the preorders even before that incident, there's nothing that indicates it would have sold 5k+
People give way too much credit to a very vocal minority.

I expected 2k sales overall per volume, now i think less than 1k due to a lot of other factors with the nationalism scenario being icing on the cake in a counter positive way.

Because preorders stoped growing that much after 6th.
And I think it would be around 5-6k because episode 12 was wonderful.

There was a bump that lasted like 1 week and then everything went back to the way things were, which was not that good to begin with.

Usually people care about BD/DVD sales because it is a good indicator of whether or not an anime series will get another season. Here's an info on how successful an anime series is based on BD/DVD sales: http://www24.atwiki.jp/anime-urisure/pages/527.html

Sakurasou BD/DVD vol 1 sold 3.6k. Another season is likely if the series sells at least 5k per vol. A series selling at 3-4k per volume is considered profitable but hard to judge, although some series that sold this much did manage to get another season.

If Sakurasou will get another season it only needs to be one-cour. JC Staff also prefers that their series, especially the ones adapted from light novel, have ending like in the original material. Of course there won't be another season if the first season will have an anime original ending.

Sakurasou's Director will be attending Sakura-con in Seatle later this month

Hopefully there'll be plenty of Sakurasou talk in addition to her work at Madhouse.

Hopefully someone will ask her if there will be a second season and she will say yes.

Lucky people who'll be able to meet Atsuko Ishizuka

By the way here is the staff for upcoming episodes (22-24). I didn't find a scan yet but I think this list is legit :
Quote:
Episode 22 :
Episode Director : Tomoyuki Kurokawa (ep 16)
Storyboard : Kiyoko Sayama (ep 11, 14 & 19)

Episode 23 :
Episode Director : Takashi Ikehata (ep 5, 8, 12, 17 & 20)
Storyboard : Atsuko Ishizuka (ep 1, 6, 8)

Episode 24 (end) :
Episode Director & storyboard : Atsuko Ishizuka
edit 03/25 : storyboard is actually done by Kurio Miyaura (ep24's credits)
Solid list though I would have loved a new Katsushi Sakurabi episode.
Takashi Ikehata delivered great episodes (& some of his episodes belong to the best ones) and it'll be even better with Atsuko Ishizuka's storyboard. No surprise, Atsuko Ishizuka will do the final episode so it should be nice.
However no animation directors announced so I hope they will be ok.

Not too worried, next episode is being outsourced to Bee Train C-Station (who've already done 9,13,16 and 19) so I figure that's giving the main staff enough time to work on the following episodes.

Well hopefully anyway

Woah, just google translated amazon JP products of this franchise and it's true.

I mean, I know the differences and problems Korea and Japan have had (I've studied them a lot!) but damn, you'd think japanese wouldn't make this big fuss at such a thing! some of them accuse the series of selling out to the koreans

A bit from the director at Sakura-con

Quote:
In addition to just bringing the characters to life from their light novel form, when you create anime, it's up to our staff to create the world and background for these characters. When I went to work, I focused on Shiina because she came off really cute and kinda fuzzy to me. I focused on the backgrounds, there is a rainbow gradient across the image. When people usually look at anime, they focus on the color and the depth. My main goal was to make my main heroine look really cute.

So, when I first got the offer to direct Sakurasou, I never really directed a moe anime or a high school drama. It was really surprising to me that they would come to me to direct the series. I had no idea what the concept of "moe" was at the time. A lot of the production time was spent with the producers explaining to me what "buhiru"means. It seemed as though they were speaking a different language. I really had to play catch up in terminology when we started on this.

Did she say anything about a second season? If not then Sunday is the last chance for anyone at Sakura-con to ask about that.

Shouldn't there be a diploma in 'Moe' that all Anime senior staff have to get? Maybe Kyoto Animation has that course in their school...

Report of a Q&A session :
Quote:
Q: Are there plans for a second season of Sakurasou?
A: That's a hard question to answer... The original work is still continuing, and so there is ongoing development between the characters, and it's something that if the opportunity comes up, I'd like to do it. If you buy lots of DVDs, we might be able to make a second season.
Other question about Sakurasou :
Quote:
Q: Who is your favorite character in Sakurasou?
A: Nanami Aoyama. The truth is when I read the original work, Nanami is the character who stood out to me, and wanted to express that character in the animation, and i wanted to special attention to expressing her, and i think she came out cuter in the animation.

It's true though, they removed a lot of Nanami's more annoying aspects in the Anime- Her LN counterpart was much more naggy and during the third volume she was a bit unbearable at the start.

Nanami gain popularity from the Anime while most LN readers were in full favorite of Mashiro.

Hi, it's been a long time, isn't it?

Watched Sakurasou again, and I feel like I want to watch it again and again.

I heard Sentai has licensed the anime version, so should I put my English VA recommendations here, or should I make a new thread on this?

Spoiler for Some Sentai dub suggestions:

Spoiler for NGNL + Sakurasou Connection:

Will there be a new season (season 2)?

Only recently (today) I've finished watching the show, so I wish for you guys to enlighten me on this. Will there be a new season or not? If you think not, could you spoil me about what happens in the manga by PM to me please? I want to know what happens furthermore into the story and what goes on after the anime finished.

It's unlikely to have a season 2, mainly due to anti-Korean controversy drummed up by Japanese otaku nationalists. As for spoiling, someone else will have to help you there, since I don't read the manga.
