More on Boeing's small launcher concept
"Here are a couple of additional images of the small launch vehicle (SLV) concept
recently unveiled by Boeing. The company outlined the scheme as a possible means of cutting the cost of launching small sats as well as increasing launch responsiveness." See: http://www.aviationweek.com/Blogs.as...0-5258308c847e |

Cyber Spy Program Flame Compromises Key Microsoft Security System
"The cyber espionage super bug Flame compromised a key Microsoft security
system, the company has now revealed, prompting Microsoft to issue an emergency patch to its millions of customers because of fears of what one expert called potential "collateral damage" from the U.S. and Israel's cyber war against Iran. In an alert issued late Sunday, Microsoft told customers that the authors of Flame -- a highly sophisticated surveillance computer virus discovered on networks in the Middle East and Iran -- had figured out how to use Microsoft's own security system to forge digital security certificates, which then allowed the malicious code to spread undetected by anti-virus programs. Digital certificates are in part designed to authenticate interactions online and help protect computer networks from being accessed by unauthorized users." US spy satellite agency gives NASA 2 space telescopes
"The United States' spy satellite agency is giving NASA two spare space
telescopes free of charge, each potentially more powerful than the Hubble Space Telescope, NASA officials announced June 4. The two spy satellite telescopes were originally built to fly space-based surveillance missions for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), but will be repurposed by NASA for astronomical research instead. Their donation to NASA was revealed in a surprise announcement." See: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/...pes-808435022/ |

^ Meanwhile they continue to cut NASA's budget (this has nothing to do with the economy, they have done so since the Apollo program ended), while the military has for scraps TWO hubbles they no longer need (no doubt they have something better, forget about them reading your newspaper from space, they probably are photographing the fingerprints you left in your glass of cola by now). The space otaku inside me is boiling in anger, while the starving enthusiast is happy NASA will no doubt give us extraordinary visuals and new insight on the universe around us.

They'll find a way. It is cheaper to launch something that already exists than to make something new...and than launch it into space.
With budget cuts, they were going to have to scrap some projects related to that field, but if they don't have to contract out to make a new telescope (or two), than all they need is to get it in orbit, since the fund to make these things probably came from the Defense budget.

Couldn't really see the sun here with really cloudy skies and no equipment to view the transit safely.
I've been following the Nasa live stream for an hour now, I think everyone should take a look since the next one would be in 2117, most people alive now wouldn't be able to see it again.
