But in fairness, only the very first Haruhi novel is called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". Only a few of the anime episodes are based on that particular novel. If you watch those episodes chronologically (and not "out of order" as they aired), then the title kind of makes sense, imo. But yeah, it does admittedly seem a bit ill-fitting for all 13 episodes of Haruhi 2006.

However, I think it's hard to top, "Encouragement of Climb." Whoever thought of that one needs to be hit over the head with a Japanese-English dictionary. |

So anyway, at least it feels like the people who came up with this title actually understood the show in question, and were trying to come up with a title that was a bit more sticky than "Eccentric Girl and Young Boy" (or whatever other word you'd normally use for "denpa")... which really doesn't pop. And yeah, regarding Haruhi, I agree that it makes more sense when you consider it the title of the first novel contents, that really were about her "melancholy". In the end, the events in that story are really the foundation for what comes next, so it makes some sense to call back to it. There are some other stories that do similar sort of "call-backs" in their title (like SAO, for example).

Everyone mentioned it already but seriously, BLEACH is such a retarded name for a show.
For worst anime titles. . . I have to give it to D. Gray-man, Skip Beat (What is Kyoko skipping a beat?) and Special A (I bet the manga author thought this sounded nice).

After thinking about this for a second I'm going to go with Fate/Stay Night.
Here's a funny story: When I started watching anime again after a few year absence in high school, I thought it would be an anime about a supernatural thriller mystery taking place at some creepy hotel. Hence the "Stay/Night" as to me it felt like "Stay the Night" at some place. Pretty misleading and weird to me at the time. Loved the show to no end though, but Fate/Zero sounds more cooler than the latter.

As for what thread is about... tell me, where in the first post does it say you must not disagree with any opinions posted on the thread? You snapped back with basically "stfu read what the thread is about" which really isn't the point here. I don't think "Japanese title pun doesn't sound good when it's not in Japanese" is a valid reason for judging a title, so I disagreed with you. To which, you snapped back with a knee-jerk reaction, hence the "chillax". It's a forum dude, I'm not asking you to agree with my disagreement. I gave my reason for why I don't think your point is valid, and you gave your reason to why you have the sentiments. That's all that matters.

I read a bit of the Idolising! manga and I could say : When I first looked up, I thought it's going to be a music-based manga, but no, I got a wrestling manga about hot girls battling each other instead. It's a shame the title didn't really fit the premise I got.

like "Eccentric girl and Youthful boy" Since the plot's not all about Erio and the youthful boy, Niwa, is the main character doing the "Ground Control", Having the youthful boy disappear from the title would make it seem like Niwa isn't an important character. I also like titles that doesn't seem related to its plot but it actually is it has that mysterious aura in it or something like that that encourages me to either watch it or read it or just look at its synopsis and see if I'll like it well, Maybe it's just me though
