Shirley is a stronger character than most people like to give her credit for. This is a woman who would have been Empress had not she run into Rolo. Once she remembers who Lelouch is, she picks up a gun to fight at his side.

The term that jumps to mind is "shield maiden".

A lot if things in R2 went "pear shaped" after episode 13. Almost like the writers, producer, and director want to throw everybody under the train!

Kallen hate is overrated, she's an excellent character and I find she has a very attractive personality for the most part.

I also like Shirley very much as well, though in other ways.

I agree that Shirley would have made a decent Black Knight...I mean if Ougi can be their commander and Tamaki made the grain, surely Shirley could.

BTW, did anyone notice that on the "Most Hated" chart/poll Suzaku is number 16.

That is defiantly possible with all the Lelouch fans in the world Suzaku's hate on Lelouch just brought his popularity down such a large scale.

If we had the doubtful and useless Ougi being commander of the Black Knights, then Shirley could have been perfect for the position if she gets used to the battlefield indeed.

As much as a fan of Shirley that I am, I resented Rolo of course, but I was still touched by his death and actually felt for him.
I guess I'm a bit to sensitive.
That's also probably because Hitomi's Boku Wa Tori Ni Naru is a beautiful song.

I'm sorry, but when Rolo killed Shirley (in the manner he did it, and why he did it) I couldn't wait for him to get wacked.

Shirley didn't deserve to die that way.

As for Rolo, I never cared for his actions, but did pity him for the life he was forced to lead.
Shirley, never had an evil bone in her body! And I often wonder how those who were responsible for the death of her father felt afterwards, though some remorse was shown in the following episode in S1.
An often repeated qoute from Zero goes "Only those prepared to die should kill." my response would have been;"And what about the innocents caught in your war?!"

What Lelouch did to Shirley is the only time he really shows remorse over what happened.

Hence the Black And Grey Morality of the show. That was just some very unfortunate collateral damage. What Britannia was doing was magnitudes worse, and justified a response.

Shirley realized in R2, moments before she encountered Rolo, that things were screwed up for Lelouch, and she wanted to find out why.

He's just a sad deluded psychotic kid. I respect the people who like him, though.
... but I certainly hate gratuitous Shirley hate, especially when the person doing it came all the way into a Shirley dedicated thread to taunt her fans.

This is not a "fan" thread this is open to both people who LOVE and HATE her. =/

Also I just said my honest opinion and yes I do admit my opinions come across insulting 90% of the time when its dealing with characters I hate, but hey if people do that for characters I love and get by with it or even have people agree with them in this case Rolo. Have you looked at all of the hate going on in HIS thread and very little comments saying how much they appreciate him being in the series? Then I shouldn't be targeted for doing the same thing by everyone that basically did the same exact thing in Rolo's thread.

I love Rolo he is personally my favorite male yandere. Male yanderes are win imo.

Also I have no problem with Shirley's normal fans in fact I have a couple friends who love her to death and they know I hate her and are fine with it and don't take it all personally like I commited some sort of sin. Its just her die hard fans are the ones I hate the ones who are like "OMG YOU HATE SHIRLEY GO DIE AND BURN IN HELL WITH ROLO. I BET YOUR AN UGLY FAT PIG BITCH." and flame/bash me relentlessly by saying personal things that have nothing to do with Shirley or CG by calling me "fat, ugly,etc...." over having an opinion different than theirs. Which I don't care if they do, but damn at least come up with something thats entertaining for me to read and not the same BS that they always spout.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: There wasn't a fate gruesome enough for Rolo.

Simply put, Rolo saw Shirley as someone who would get between himself and Lelouch so he removed her from the situation in the way he found most expedient: he killed her. Shirley, who's motivation was to help Lelouch, was killed because some whiney, angsty, teenage brat with an inferiority complex found her before she found Lelouch.

To put it even simpler: Shirley was the only person who could have stopped Zero Requiem from happening. Because Rolo killed her before she had a chance, that makes Rolo just as guilty as Lelouch for all the misery and death it caused. With considerably less excuse.
