2x2=shinobuden: The nonsense kunoichi fiction. I think it's just what your looking for. As you might be able to tell from the title, it's about a female ninja named shinobu, and makes no sense. It also stars her best friend the non-ninja kaede, a weird shape changing ball of goo named onsakamaru, who claims to be a hawk, and a bunch of strange ninja guys that all look alike, at least of of whom is named sasuke. After all, you can't have a show about ninjas without having at least one sasuke. It's a law or something.

The foremost weird anime is Excel Saga, which I recently got the box set and had previously watched 13 episodes. Just to let you know, I had no friggin' clue how much weirder this series could have got.

Mahou Shoutengai Abenobashi. Licensed. Apart from eps 1, 7 and 13 (I think) and a cop-out ending, it's non-stop comedy.

well if you want a weird comedy,i strongly recommend ping pong club...althought the series are very bizzare its still a great comedy,one of the greatest that i've ever seen.but be aware,that the series are not suitable for someone with weak heart and pure subconsciousness

Weirdness: Bobobo~bo Bo~bobo and Sakigake!! Cromartie High definately fit the bill for weirdness.

I haven't actually watched any of Bobobo~bo Bo~bobo though I've seen some amvs with it and some friends of mine have seen it.

Can't believe Genshiken wasn't mentioned.. it's a hilarious anime about a group of Otaku's. It's a new anime, btw.. Episode 6 is being subbed now.

The charecter designs aren't great, but it's comedy definetly makes up for it. Though I wouldn't really recommend if it if you really into anime.

Azumanga Daioh (finished this few weeks ago, friken hilarious. Its great but its so funny and doens't ahve the need to use anything ecchi to acheive it. school kid comedy)

yea Keroro is indeed very weird funny.
I also like Gakuen Alice (unlicensed and on animesuki), I consider it a very weird funny anime because the kids all have strange powers and there are a lot of comedy for parts where people normally would find sad or weird. Look up screenshots of it on JASCII. I like it (even though I've only seen 3 eps).

Edit: How did I forget Bobobo Bobobobobo? (I forget how many "bo"s are in the title...). If you're looking for something that's just plain WEIRD, watch that series (it's unlicensed). It's about an afro guy who attacks people with his nosehairs.

I've seen many animes mentioned above and agree that they are all hilariously odd :P. Another one that hasn't been mentioned that is currently unlicensed and being subbed is Final Approach. It's one of the weirdest things I've ever seen..

You will love it. Everybody does.

With a shoujo twist, I would say Princess Tutu, Akazukin Cha Cha and Utena.
