This probably isn't too constructive but I would really like this to happen between Kyousuke and Ayase (or Kirino but she wasn't as disturbing this episode around):
Spoiler for slap:
Of course, I'd want a fitting context to be there but seeing as how Kyousuke is treated I'd personally see a good ol' bitch slap justified.

Oi oi oi... from Ayase's point of view, Kyousuke just declared that he's planning to get into his sister's pants. Under these circumstances, Ayase is now deceived to be on a mission to rescue her beloved Kirino from this predatory hentai. Ayase has more than ample justification to be mad and disgusted at Kyousuke.
The beauty of Ayase's character is that I think I can empathize and understand how she's ticking, and she is REALLY no bad person. She has a crush on her idolized version of Kirino, and due to her personal history, she is conditioned to reject the otaku/anime culture. STILL, she's not just as much a denialist as some people seem to try to make her. She's still talking to Kyousuke about the incident, and she's accepting the evidence Kyousuke brought as genuine. She's not been calling it quits with Kirino on a whim, but for very clear reasons, and she's definitely hurting over it at least as much as Kirino. And when Kyousuke fed her the worst-case scenario, she didn't decide to reconcile with Kirino for selfish reasons, but out of concern for her. It became her duty to protect Kirino against the alleged hentai, and that superseded any personal misgivings she might feel about her hobby (which was probably the result of Kyousuke's tainting of her anyway). In other words, she isn't a mere nutcase yandere, she is fairly PRINCIPLED at her core, and I maintain that she's genuinely kind at heart. It's just that she's operating on two wrong assumptions, one being her idolized view of Kirino, and the other being Kyousuke's story he fed her. Try to view things from this perspective, and you'll see that Ayase isn't bad in the least. I'll come out: I'm a closet Ayase shipper. Essentially, she and Kyousuke (who never was an Otaku in the beginning) would make a pretty good match. Both are essentially normal people with the feet firmly planted on the ground. And I hope that in the long run, this awful lie between them will eventually be cleared up. |

I just really, really hope that Kyousuke's treatment will become better, not just because he's been helping out Kirino but in general. And yeah, him kinda making up or getting closer to Ayase would be nice.

I'm starting to hate Ayase now with that kind of attitude. Ah well, kudos once again for Kyousuke's action. He take it all to himself again and just absorb all the hate and scorn by people. You're becoming a wonderful man now mate. I bow to your skills Y'know, I wonder if there would be at least somebody who will treat Kyousuke with love and respect (from another girl not Kirino) because from the past episodes all I see is hate and more hate and abuse , it's kinda depressing he's getting all those treatment he didn't even deserve.

I thought this was one of the best episodes. Really got into some strong stuff, with Ayase representing the actual opinions propagated in the general Japanese media. It's perfectly natural that a strong person with little imagination would react exactly that way. I thought nothing was excessively exaggerated, and the whole thing was perfectly appropriate.
This show's modus operandi is to mix imouto-con ecchi moe with some serious points about being an otaku. Many reviewers hate the combination, saying they don't mix, but I find it works. I don't take the serious points that seriously, but they make sense as drama. I said before the show started, based on the manga, that Kirino was not a very nice person. That's just how she is. But as her world crashes down around her, she is becoming easier and easier to sympathize with. As for Ayase, she is clearly not a bad person, just strong and conventional, following the opinion that society has provided to her. I expect the story to show how she gradually comes around. There isn't the smallest chance of incest in this show. And all the other possibilities for Kyousuke are pretty good, it seems to me: osananajimi (I always sympathize with the unrequited osnanajimi, especially when she's a meganekko nerd), Ayase, and De Gozaru. And I can't help but agree with Mentar also about Hayami Saori: she is always given sweet, weak characters, but clearly there is a lot more to her than that. Hints of her ability showed up occasionally in Eden of the East, but this season she is getting roles with a bit more range. Really, she showed her talent at age 16 in ep21 of Touka Gettan, an episode written beautifully just for her by Noto Mamiko, with lines that she said easily and with great subtlety. She is an excellent radio host, a bit artificial, but garrulous and capable, and giving evidence of intelligence and education (she's a first-year college student now). She is doing the MM radio show with Taketatu Ayana right now.

The funny moments in this episode were awesome - the consultation with the father, Ayase slapping Kyousuke, Kirino shooting glares at Kyousuke when she wants help, the father mirroring the tsundere game character,...
Ayase freaking out in the rain was just the right amount of creepy - not too much, thankfully. Nice bit of revelation, about how Kirino was hurt from being ignored by her brother, wonder how that came about, or did they naturally drift apart as they grew up. Oh, and pretty sharp of Ayase to see through Kyousuke's act at the end. Quote:
Oh. Thanks for that. So Ayase gets it from her stick-up-the-@ss Mother. Quote:
You can even ignore the Kirino factor - that was probably the first time in her life she saw porn Last edited by ID555; 2010-10-31 at 20:33. |

But did Ayase really see through the act? I think she was just plain insulting him for "deceiving" her by taking away Kirino through otakuism.
But anyways, let us recount the amount of (substantial) injury Kyousuke has suffered up to this episode. It would be too hard to count the various slaps to the arm he's had :P. Spoiler for The List of Injuries:

Apparently helping out your sister is inversely proportional to people's view of you. First the father, and now the best friend thinks Kyousuke is a closet perv. Who's next!?! To be fair, Kirino never asked him to do such outrageous things in order to save the day...that's all on him. The guy really needs to learn to think on his feet, since this is clearly a trend.
Yep. Hopefully we learn more about the origin\cause of their estranged relationship. Apparently it has to do with him simply not being acting the "big brother" role when the opportunity came. What's interesting is that Kirino mentioning it was what made him feel guilty enough to decide to help out. I'm guessing the sister's "guilt moment" will result in an equivalent exchange; her having to sacrifice something, like putting her own reputation on the line as well. |

Ayase finally gets into her yandere mode XD...
They did cut the explaination about Ayase's background from the anime, though...her mom is in the PTA and her father is a Congressman. Right there you should see where her view comes from. (PTA discussing one-side evidence against game, congress uses one-side evidence to pass laws against "loli" when they have half a clue what it meant, etc.). In another word, basically trying to portray the biased news (well, no Jack Thompson now so not as much "(certain teen that commit a crime, i.e. murder / carjacking / whatever) plays GTA (or some other FPS)" now as used to be). Although I'm actually surprised that the original reporter actually go back and said he/she is wrong, I mean, professional journalism still exist? (Well, I don't know much about how news goes in Japan...). Last thing, gotta love Kyousuke's dad going tsundere again ("It's not like I research it for you guys" when, well, he's just trying to understand Kirino's interest more...) |

But Kyousuke has nothing to hide, and no one to hide it from! It'd make a great plot device, but I can't really see Kirino being able to help Kyousuke at all...
Now that I think of it more, that's really sad. All the help is going to be one-way . |

I thought this episode might have been a bit like a forced lecture considering the attack/defense of otaku hobbies relating to crime, but it came off okay. Maybe having the tsundere cop dad be a segway into evidence to the contrary helped a bit. The way Ayase's love for Kirino is portrayed also tones down the kind of lecture feeling since it goes from "being otaku=becoming a criminal" to an issue of jealousy and trying to protect her friend.
Well, that being said Kyosuke seems like he's trying to get arrested. Between his plan to get Kirino and Ayase back together and how he dealt with Kirino's R-18 games with their dad, it's almost like he wants to go to jail... or get into Kirino's pants. |

The way I see it, the 'dear lying onisan' and 'thanks to you' message meant Ayase was grateful that Kyousuke's crazy declaration at the end gave her a way to reconcile with Kirino while not abandoning her stance on hentai. I agree that it can be interpreted other ways though. |

Kyousuke seriously deserves better than this. At this point it's becoming self destructive already, all because the people he's trying to protect and/or help are either too damn stubborn or too narrow-minded to realize what they're doing and what their actions are doing to someone who's simply being forced to crucify himself for the greater good.
And for that, the episode annoyed me.

After watching the subs to confirm whether I was understanding the raws correctly, a pretty important plot point came up in the exchange between Kirino and Kyousuke. Particulary, the part where Kirino states that Kyousuke has ignored her for some undetermined amount of time and of all times, is finally acting like a brother.
What happened Kyousuke? Based on his reaction, he doesn't seem to realize what he did at all.
