I always had the impression that normal Rikuo and night Rikuo were pretty much the same person after that one scene where they saw each other in his subconscious. They're not separate personalities the way Yami and Yugi seem to be.

Or like Inner/outer Moka. But yeah, same here, I don't believe they are separate personalities. I think Rikuo simply changes his act depending on which form he's in.

Inner and outer moka have a loooot of differences between them though.

Well the Raw's of chapter 97 are out and from the looks of it,

The training of Day Rikuo by Gyuki has started, at least it seems like that in my opinion. Well it's still too early to say what Rikuo is being trained in, but the more interesting fact is that we got more information about the past meeting between Rikuo and Gitsune. It's still too early to make a definite statement about it, but to me it seems like Rikuo was partially responsible for his father's death. I suspect that he died while trying to defend Rikuo from Gitsune's attack, will see if my suspicion was correct.

The more interesting thing that this chapter confirmed is that according to Gitsune Rikuo is still under her curse and that he will be unable to break it, though there still hasn't been explained what this curse is doing.

So an interesting chapter in my opinion.

From what I gather, the curse is forbidding the Nura from bonding with other youkai to create offspring, but it's fine if it's a human... Looks like Kitsune MUST be defeated if we are rooting for Tsurara.

It seems that what Rikuo is going to be trained in is something called combat experience. It seems that he must gain a "capability" a leader of a Hyakki must posses.

Honestly I'm a bit confused about this chapter, so we will probably have to wait a few chapter's to see what Rikuo actually has to obtain.

As far as I understood, basically Rikuo has reached or is reaching his latent strength, or the powers he already has. Now, he has to train himself so that he can surpass the powers he has. It's similar to an athlete being out of shape, and then now finally getting back into the condition he was in before. Now, he needs to become better.

I'm interested in how Rikuo's tied to Kitsune, since they obviously have met before.

Well the scans of chapter 98 have came out and things have definitely become clearer.

It seems that for Rikuo to get stronger he has to acknowledge his human side as well. Well I think it will mean that after Rikuo will complete his training he will be able to fight in his day form as well.

Another thing that got me wondering is when Rikuo has become so tall. I mean on the last page of this chapter he is almost as tall as Zen, which clearly means that something has started to change inside him. I'm not saying that he stopped being a human, but it might be a way to say that the barrier between Rikuo's ayakashi side and his human side is becoming weaker.

On another topic, it seems Rikuo and the Keikain have five more days until Gitsune gives birth, which probably means game-over. It also seems that in the next chapter we will finally learn what Higoromo Gitsune actually want's to achieve. Anyway from the looks of it things seem to be spicing up and leading foreword the grand finial battle of this arc , which is of course a fight between Rikuo and Gitsune. It seems that Tsuchiqumo will be a so called "training bag" to show how much Rikuo has improved after his training sessions with Gyuki.
