For Btooom fans:

Btooom! App Producer: Anime Gets Season 2 If App Ranks #5 in Japan
Quote:
Masato Hayashi, the producer of Asobimo's Btooom! Online game app, promised at the end of the game's unveiling event on Monday that if the game ranks in the top 5 of Japan's app sales chart, the second season of the Btooom! anime will be made.
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/dai...-japan/.112794

Maybe we'll see season 2. (only if the app manages to achieve its rank goal in Japan)

ROFL. That's one of the silliest things I've seen in anime production.

Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess.

Can't verify that is legit (I sure hope so) but if it's a fake, it's a good one.

Yes, please! I still haven't read the manga or watched to OVAs, but I always found the art style and concept very appealing!

The website address mahoyome.jp shown on the poster resolves to a placeholder at GMO Hosting at the moment. Hopefully something will appear there soon to give us an idea what's happening.

I figure with the effort put into the OAVs accompanying the recent manga tankos a full anime series (or at least a theatrical movie release) was a given. I look forward to it if it is happening. It is a manga with great visuals and a strong story, dramatic and well-structured around characters that engage with you as you follow their travails.

I haven't seen any news about this yet, but I think it's very likely to be true.
(But if it's true then man, someone is so breaking their contract's confidentiality clause.)

Yeah, me too - it was pretty clear where they were headed with those lush OVAs. I thought it might take a bit longer than this fall, though.

There's easily enough raw material in the manga now to do a single-cour series with three or four dramatic arcs, especially if (as I expect them to) they spend a lot of screen time on the visuals. The two central characters spend a lot of time just walking through woods and other landscapes and this translates to screen candy quite nicely assuming the animation studio is up to it.

There are so many interesting secondary characters that I'd like to see a lot of but won't and little sub-plots which probably won't be shown in any detail (The Spriggan and Silky's relationship, for example) but yes I'm pumped for this if it comes about.

Fourth High School DxD Anime Series In The Works

Whether you’re ready or not, it’s time for classes to begin anew at Kuoh Academy.

Earlier today, a High School DxD stage event was held at Fujimi Shobo’s “Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2016” (“Fantasia Bunko Big Thanks Festival 2016”) fan event. At the show, the presenters announced that a new High School DxD anime series is in the works.

As of press time, no further details are known.

High School DxD is an ongoing light novel series from Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrator Miyama-Zero. The series began publication in September 2008 in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine. Collected volumes are published under the company’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. To date, 22 volumes have been released, with the most recent hitting Japanese retailers on August 22.

To date, three anime adaptations of High School DxD have been produced: High School DxD, High School DxD New, and High School DxD BorN. All three titles were directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa (Daimidaler: Prince vs. Penguin Empire, UFO Princess Valkyrie: SPECIAL) at studio TNK. Junji Goto (School Days, Daimidaler: Prince vs. Penguin Empire ) provided character designs on all three shows, while Takao Yoshioka (Elfen Lied, Magical Girl Raising Project) took charge of series composition.

Funimation currently holds the domestic rights to all three seasons of High School DxD. They describe the series as:

A war between heaven and hell is raging on Earth – and hormonal fury is raging in Issei’s pants. Enter curvy redhead Rias, president of The Occult Research Club: a club that doesn’t actually research the occult. They are the occult – and Rias is a Devil!

They did announce a new season. There was a blog at some point that was conflating the release date for the new novel volume with the date for the new season, and that part isn't true. But the fact there will be a new season was confirmed by the publisher.
