Ruka "sold out" because people liked her manga. Nagi is selling because they want the picture book, they dont even want her manga. She is realizing this isn't a very fulfilling thing. |

Well, Luca's manga is 12 pages, so it clearly isn't done yet. It's more like to illustrate that its success is not a matter of awesome artwork, but rather a simple, well-executed story based on Hina's (Hata's) advice.
I don't think that there is much that Nagi or Chiharu could do for this Comifes, so the outcome will be financially ugly (unless they sell it solo for the same price, and the photobook becomes the total hit - which I find hard to believe). The split sales could rather be a measure to make sure that the sad truth isn't superseded by the photobook sales. Which is at least showing a willingness not to avert the eyes - a good sign. But does that mean that Nagi's doujinshi storyline gets extended even further? Color me unconvinced... |

I'm sorry, I'm definitely going to hell for thinking
about Nagi and Hina as Light and L when they were like: Nagi: "My marketing was flawless, with this photobook and Maria herself selling, there's no way Luka can beat me, everything went according to plan." Hina: "Nagi thinks her marketing is perfect, and she's right, but she made a grave mistake by not focusing on her manga, we're going to win here." Nagi: "My theory..." Hina: "My theory..." Nagi&Hina: ""...will hold true!!""

Anyway, I think I remember the resemblance and it's Kamichu where the opening scene has the main character tell her friend "I've become a god". It diverges from that point though so it might still be something else triggering my memory. |

Really, I enjoy the mangaka arc. The bigger problem is that because Hata refuses to do any notable timeskips, it results in a lot of filler to pad things out while we wait for the next development...Hopefully he's got a better plan for the second half. With any luck it'll be tighter now, at least. We got through the "Ruka introduction" stage, the "Nagi fails and realizes where she went wrong stage" ect. All that's left is to set the stage for the "Heroine makes her thrilling comeback, or does she?" scenario and we're done. I'm guessing we're only doing the con sell off thing one more time. This was "it"?
For real? O_o Am I supposed to look forward to this challenge? Am I supposed to feel sympathy or even admiration for ditching Maria and tangling with Ruka again? I think that this was the most lackluster conclusion to a sub-arc in a long time. |
