No kidding... She's hopelessly pathetic. And I thought harem MCs were bad.
Don't think I need to endure 24 minutes of her mentally wishing everyone harm because they're actually living life.
If I wanted to see people like that, all I have to do is play some LoL.

And here i wished for the second episode to be more bearable, sadly it was the reverse, it's just getting more painful to watch, somewhat gut-wrenching to simply look at how utterly pathetic Tomoko has become in my eyes in these two episode.

Not sure whether i will continue watching or not, because the only thing these two eps left behind to me is utter sadness

I think some people are taking this show far too seriously.
It's a show
about a silly girl
doing silly things
It's also relate able for quite a bunch which adds to it's appeal.
I can understand feeling that "hits too close to home" bit, but are people really sad over this?

I still adore how depressing this is. The end of episode two felt even more depressing than the manga's equivalent scene.

I understand that.
But is that really a reason NOT to watch a show?

萌え豚
It's a commonly used Japanese internet lingo as an insult to pathetically moe-obsessed otaku.

Yes, that's the phrase of the year in anime so far.

The thing is, Tomoko isn't a silly girl with silly anime problems. She's not a hikikomori. She's an uncomfortably realistic portrayal of a person with a serious social anxiety disorder, and because the author clearly knows the subject she hits uncomfortably close to the mark for those who recognize the signs.

What people need to understand in order to enjoy this show is that Tomoko is not some innocent victim we're meant to pity. That will be made clearer as the story progresses. You should have already noticed in the anime that she looks down on everybody and is quick to judge people. That's just the tip of the iceberg. She's actually a horrible person. That's why it's okay to laugh at her misfortunes. It's not supposed to be sad.

I can't agree. Tomoko is an anti-hero who brings most of her problems on herself, sure, but she's still presented sympathetically. The mangaka don't want us to just laugh at her screw-ups -- they also want us to feel bad about doing it. At the end of the first episode we're supposed to laugh at the ugly face she uses to escape WcDonalds -- until Tomoki's friend comments on it and she runs away crying, at which point we realize that we're bastards.

She is the creepiest female character I have ever seen in an anime or manga.

To anybody who dropped the show for similar reason, I guess they win because the show really wants to make you feel bad and if it achieves it in1 or e episodes it's even better. it's like watching a baseball game of your local team and have them win in 3 innings because they kicked the other team's ass.

too bad that's not profitable.

I kind of get that but is she really a horrible person or is she a horrible person because of her situation?

It's a chicken & egg sort of situation.
