Yeah. but my brain wasn't working then. But then again, is the Phase 3 a Shiranui with YF-23 parts, or is it a YF-23 with Shiranui head?

- I've been asking the Muv-Luv Wiki that very same question, and it makes my head hurt. Someone please dissect the info from the VN already and let us know.

Actually, does anyone have pics from the VN that show full sprite/images of the Shiranui Third? Maybe we'll be able to figure it out from those.

So I just finished watching all the The Day After playthrough videos available in youtube. While I was already aware of the general plot, a few points still surprised me:

Spoiler for Spoilers ALERT:

• Marimo-chan is currently a Major of the Japanese Imperial Army (a five-rank promotion in just a couple of years? Not bad!)
• "Wardog" - the codename of Hibiki's Flight - was originally the designation of the Squadron that Marimo commanded during her time fighting in the front-lines as U.N. eishi
• Everything indicates that the "Yuuhi" that appears in TDA is indeed a disguised Meiya
• Although Hibiki recalls killing his old comrade Asagi, Yuzuha has repeatedly hinted that he is mistaken. Considering how opposed she initially was to him attempting to fully remember what happened during their "exodus" in the American territory and that CG where she appears covered in blood, it is possible that Yuzuha was the one who actually committed the deed.
• Apparently, the Imperial Royal Guard carried out a coup d'état in Japan just before the calamity of "The Day" destroyed the mainland. Japan is currently ruled by a despot government and the Japanese army is under the complete control of the Royal Guard.
• Although the majority of the Japanese populace is currently residing in Seattle (in a neighboring city called Takoma to be precise), the core of the governing body is located in Hawaii

Actually Marimo is a Major in the Imperial Army and a sergeant in the UN Army. Wardog is the name of her squad during her front lines as a Imperial Army soldier, she was only an instructor in the UN Army.

At the very least, TDA states that she led the Wardog Squadron during her time in the UN as well. That is why the emblem of Hibiki's Wardog Flight has the UN's characteristic blue color in it. It's a homage of sorts.

Huh as far as i remember Matsukaze only mentioned that Wardog is Jinguuji's squad in the front lines, never heard of it being part of the UN, also the reason Marimo entered the UN is because of Yuuko. She even trained Isumi in the Imperial Army, since Isumi is 5 years older than Takeru's squad, it means that Marimo wasn't even part of the UN until 1997, which she has already stopped the front lines.

So I was wondering tonight about TDA03. We know Takeru is going to be in it. I'm wondering, does he get the full-voice treatment like the rest of the "side" characters? I mean even Hibiki's spoken lines are voiced. But I don't think I've ever heard Takeru voiced prominently in any of the Muv-Luv games (only the flashbacks in Alternative and a whole TWO scenes in the all-ages version IIRC). It may not be a big thing to some, but I really do like Hoshi's Takeru, shame we don't get to hear more of it.

One wild idea I had that let's them get away without voicing Takeru: TDA03 is told from Takeru's perspective relegating Hibiki to side-character status. I mean, I seriously doubt it, but....

Maybe they'll use a dual POV, with the POV changing between Takeru and Hibiki.

UN? Marimo? But who was in Wardogs back then? We know Wardogs isn't actually formed until Carronade and Drake were merged. And that's somewhere 2004-2005.
