"What's a metre?"
Asked by a 13 or 14 year old student my lab's open day, whilst I was giving a talk to a group of students. That question stopped me right in my tracks, as I couldn't quite believe that a 13 year old wouldn't know . His teacher seemed pretty annoyed though. In retrospect I guess I should've given him the scientific definition of the metre: Quote:

Me:It's just 50cents pay the man.
Her:Fine... You know I never understood why it's 50cents and not 60. Me:Because you owe him 50cents for the drink not 60. Her:So why isn't 60cents half of a dollar. I had the worst taste in girls for a while and shouldn't have shown their insane intelligence levels to my friends. |

Not really. It just some people don't like DBZ since it a story of Heroes beat up bad guy, new bad guy comes and beats the crap outta Heroes, Heroes gets powered up and beats new bad guy and it repeats again with more bad guys. Not everyone is fan of Action Shonen anime/manga.

someone in my class did his English presentation about Stephen King and there were seriously people (around 20 years old) who had never heard of the guy O.O;
"The economic crisis has struck again .. etc etc" The news int his country speaks as if the crisis is a disease of some kind, it cracks me up. Another company was infected by the crisis and has to be cured! Yesterday evening on some sex education program where youngsters were allowed to ask questions and they listed up some of the myths, you can't get pregnant if you stand while having sex or if it is your first time and the reuse of a condom if you wash it, I lol'd so hard |

That's not the only theory that despite being completely wacky has many strong followers, i could name a few others: "The smurfs show was communist propaganda" <- gotta love this "Paul McCartney died long time ago, even before John Lennon" "The Earth is flat" "The holocaust never happened" "Elvis Presley is alive" "The Illuminati rule the world" "The lunar landing in 1969 was a hoax" I could name many others by i fear it will start a debate, actually even the ones i mentioned so far might have some followers in this forum.

"Animes and Mangas are for small kids! Its not for teenagers like us."
I always have to hear these types of comments from the ignorant people If i try to explain that even adults are interested, they might just say, "hey! i like to watch Tom and Jerry once in a while." Comparing animes to tom and jerry?? Now thats wierd.... |

I forget where this rule was made or even if it's still around right now. But I think it was one California city where if you detonate a nuclear device you get fined a couple hundred dollars.
