(CR) White Album (All Episodes, 1-26)

I'd better stop posting summaries if people are going to form snap judgments from them without actually watching the episode. I liked the episode, myself. My summary isn't that great, and the plot outline is not all there is to the episode.

I can understand people feeling Touya got off easy, but maybe he didn't, really. And anyway, I'm a big believer in forgiveness, when people finally figure things out.

I found the fact they didn't show Yuki and Touya together really interesting. Not that it meant they didn't get back together, just that it was so like the wonderfully weird way the whole anime was designed. Created unexpected resonances.

EDIT: Someone gave me negative rep for this post. On balance, I think they were justified. No complaints. I shouldn't form "snap judgments" on what people were basing their judgments on.

The whole series has riddles all over. Not a straightforward and easy series to grasp and understand.

Anyways, it has finally ended...
As expected, Touya wasn't punished or killed for his cheating, as some had hoped, but I personally prefer it this way.
They solved the mysteries and answered questions, left some more... I wish they directly showed Touya going to Yuki, instead of leaving it slightly ambiguous (though considering everyone else already left him, there is a high chance it is her).
Also, kind of lacking on telling what some characters are doing in the epilogue... But, hey, compared to most anime this season, this is actually forgivable... (-_-)

Looks like Master is back in the music production business?

Probably one of the more interesting anime this season, as far as seriousness goes. A lot of other serious anime flopped...
But this stayed at WA quality throughout the entire thing... Including it's tendency to have characters do mind-boggling actions that don't seem to make sense... Characters were refreshing too. It does get dull seeing goody "as expected of fictional girls!" type characters and seeing characters act stupidly or foolishly... Touya too was very refreshing and wonderful.

I've said for quite a while that i find this show to be rather unique in just about every way possible, so i was expecting an ending that would do the job in a way that would finish of this story in that fashion, and it did just that.

I never thought in a million years that the reason behind Touya's Goddess actions would have something to do with his original meeting with Yuki, and the way this conclusion was presented was very nicely done, especially with the visuals at the beginning of the flashback. The same visuals that we've seen a number of times since the beginning of the first series, so that was a nice touch. I also like the little end there between Mana and Menou, and their scene in the epligoue. That was some nice closure.

I think there's also a lot of closure between Touya and Yuki, especially seeing as how long she's waited for Touya to remember, and he did so at a touching time, so it did the job of ending a part of their story. I was never expected an end that would show the two together, or an ending with Touya being with anyone, so the scene the last scene when Touya waving to someone was just what i expected, and was perfect way to end this series.

I've been giving this show plenty of praise, though most of that started with the second season. I loved the first, though the second is when the true nature of the series started to appear, and it's unique approach at telling a story and handling it's characters shined oh so bright. Truly a brilliant second half to the story. Overall it get's a 9/10 from me.

Now i just hope for a soundtrack release, though i get a feeling that's never going to happen.

Wow, that's it?

Guess Yuki remained oblivious to Touya's cheating. She only know about Rina, and her reactions were already quite drastic. It ends without her knowing about Yayoi, her manager, Misaki and Haruka, her friends. Oh boy.

And I never understood the motivations of Tamaru. And his part in the series ends with him choking on noodles while watching TV?

Nice closure definitely with Mana, Menou and Kanzaki. How did she get Eiji out? I wonder. Like to add like Kanzaki's straightfoward ways was really a breath of fresh air in the series. Now I won't look at obasans the same way again.

Overall, not a series I would rewatch. Nice, but I just wait for the songs and albums. I don't want to burst my head sorting through all the riddles ever again.

Whoa, that was...I don't know. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, but I am satisfied at the same time.

Spoiler for Episode 26:

• Rina walking on stage was a little random. I am glad Touya helped her and Yayoi even acknowledged it too. The duet that I always wanted was awesome as well. I want that single.

• The forest story was interesting. Why did he piss his pants though? I think it would have been better if the kids kicked the crap out of him.

• I'm glad we were given extra Mana time, coupled with Menou as well. I guess that family will be okay from now on. Mana was cute all the way to the end too. Menou picking fun at her about Touya was fuuunny.

• They should have played the duet song a second time at the end. It should have been the first OP, one that we haven't heard in a long time. And the OP that played during the credits should have been the first season's ED. I like when they go back and use something you haven't heard in a while.

• I thought the guy was going to end up alone though. But he's still seeing Yuki and they are mending their relationship so he is reflecting on everything he has done too.

• I like how they saved the title for the very end too. Really encompassing.

Like Shiroth said, unique all the way to the end. I'd give it a 7/10 since some things were left open or dropped all together (ie: Tamaru) but once I factor in how much fun I had, it goes right up to a 10.

I want to read some R. K. Browning now, lol.

And I am sad this is over, it was so much fun to wait for it then to watch it and then to talk about it.

That's what makes it so great in my opinion. It makes you think and gives you plenty of room to interpret. Its got an artistic feel to it. I'll be watching this again for sure.

And I will return to my duet signature once again since I loved it so much.

I think I my heart stopped a beat when I heard the duet. They even showed the flashback when Rina promised to have a duet with Yuki to refresh our memories. Truly brilliant.

A nice conclusion, and I like how they put the episode title at the end fits nicely. This series overall is truly a great piece of art.

But still makes me wonder why Touya's father is so hard on him in the beginning of the series. He's a tsundere? >.>

It would have been nice, for me at least, if they showed him ending up with someone but I also loved how the ending made it look like he ended up with everyone in spirit.

It is kind of surprising to see Mana imitated her sister wholly in terms of looks at the end. And did anyone see that she stuck her head out when the lorry was leaving?

This finale had all the potential to be a downer. And Touya, whom many criticized as an indecisive two-timing jerk in the beginning, certainly could have met a grisly, or lonely, end.

But it wasn't, and he didn't.

Touya's sordid past wasn't just a portrait of his struggle, it was also a reflection of the lives of those close to him. They all felt powerless at one point, and in their moment of despair ended up throwing away something invaluable to them. And just like Touya, they went through great hardships to reclaim what had been lost.

It was nice to see that brief montage of everyone on the phone and having it ultimately lead to Touya. He would have no more need of that infernal answering machine (although it was a nice running gag between him and Yuki ).

Props to you Akira, for finally being a competent friend and not doing something inherently stupid like you've been doing these past 20 or so episodes. (though you still ended up alone so maybe i'll keep calling you Sunohara )

Instead of Daddy Long Legs, Master should've named his record company Master Productions

Kanzaki looks totally different without makeup Almost didn't recognize her.

Finally, the last scene was quite possibly the best 'harem' ending ever. He could have ended up with any of those girls and it would be totally believable, unlike other shows that usually anchor the lead to the first girl and never let go. Or for those who prefer he not be with anyone, it gives them that option as well. In the end, everyone wins

Best show this season, 9/10 overall from me. (if he nailed Menou and Rina it would've been an 11 ) Next season looks utterly boring, so I'm hoping there's another gem like this amidst the sea of crap headed our way.

Actually the answering machine is a metaphor in the series on how modern technology has changed lives. The machine was first commercialised in the mid-1980s, in the period which this entire charade took place. The characters do not panic when they do not hear from each other, they just simply leave a message knowing that the other party will reply, and vice versa. The montage at the end is just alluding to the fact that nothing beats direct communication in holding together relationships.

Similar to our SMS and email today, we often wait upon replies with tolerance and patience, without realising how much it has eroded our personal relationships as we do not contact-on-instance with each other anymore. By the time we received the messages and planned for further action, it is already too late.

Regarding Akira, he has always been a good friend. It is just that Touya totally ignored him and sealed the world away with the goddesses he made.

The things I am disappointed about are:

• The lack of Rina in the second season.
• How Touya's dad's death went practically unnoticed.
• In the second season, how there wasn't enough Rina time.
• Tamaru & Fatso's stuff was dropped and they didn't get the justice they deserved.
• Rina not having the time and development she deserved.

Well the story ended in the way that's most sensible I guess. We get no climax in the last episode and our 2 girls acted camly till the very end. Still I would have liked Rina to have a little more screen time and development but I think this is the best you can do to "interwine" all the routes in the game, introduce all the girls and get them to a good enough closure without neglecting the main rivalry. BUT my Rina still get shafted a bit. Porr Rina.

Menou was fascinating though, I'd love to hear her voice more.

8.5 for the 2nd season!

What I really like about how everything turned out is :

1. Eiji actually did not give up on finding his goddess, even going as far to fly off in search of that picture right after his release. Behind all that politicking and competition with Kanzaki, he isn't just a heartless marketeer hellbent on making money. He had a wish.

2. Kanzaki turned herself over to the police as she was the one who sold the paintings to Eiji. I think the reason why she got released is because she got the arts through personal sources and there is no credible evidence against her. Secondly, she patched up her broken family, after being enlightened after this farce that, she only provided for her daughters' material needs, but never their emotional needs. Looks like she retired for good.

3. Mana reconciled with her mother and sister, despite her "it is not like I wanted to..." facade. How much more cuteness can you ask from a tsundere other than that final pout at Touya? Her final act of looking out of the window back at Touya is an act of admittance of her feelings for that guy as she is going to miss him for the days to come.

OT : Although, there MIGHT be a high possibility that she married someone by the name of Nakano and had a daughter who is just as cute.....

well that was really underwhelming, didn't get my school days ending =( though i do applaud them for wrapping up all those stories in 1 episode (at the cost of rina/yuki time)

I really admire how they left Yuki & Rina's plotlines alone and open at the end. They could have really half assed them and closed each one off but they didn't. Plenty was left open for the viewer and the fact that they were the only two girls who didn't have a clean cut meant something all together as well.

She only wanted a tutor from a specific school, the one where Touya graduated from, and she kept throwing out all of the tutors until she found him. And even though she decided to take a test where no math was needed (not that she even needed help to begin with) she still kept him as her tutor.
