THAT, and/or because he recognized that fluctlights were living beings, independently if the they are copies or not of someone else... also, maybe because kirito can't retain all his memories from UNDERWORLD, the copy feel they are different people

My question ties in with the ones above, since Kirito was damaged (his soul), what happened afterwards, how did they get him back to normal, did the people in the Turtle replace the damaged soul with the copied one?

Are you referring to the part where the Ocean Turtle is under attack and his avatar in UW becomes emotionless? I wasn't sure if it was because his soul got damaged due to the intruder's attack on the Ocean Turtle or his extreme sadness at the death of Eugeo.

^ I think that what might of happened due to Eugeo being killed it caused Kirito to wake up, or disconnect from UW, because at that point in the story he is yelling at someone in the real world and sounds like he is going to go after them. So I think his avatar in UW is incomplete or in a zombie state without him connected to it.

Web Chapter 5 and first parts of Chapter 7 plus new additional content from the real world side.

I went cheap route and ordered volume 11 via local Kinokuniya, and so far, still no news of my copy being shipped...

Just got my hands on the scanned raw, but I wonder what happened to the previous contributor of earlier volumes. The scan raws of Progessive volume 1 and volume 11 leave a lot to be desired.

From a quick flip (no time to read it yet), Interlude III which is a chapter not available in web version is only 17 pages long.

Asuna appeared again in the first part of chapter 8, which would be in volume 14, I guess...

Unless I missed something, they just didn't block them this time. When he went under before, they'd block his memories so his only experience would be with the virtual world, but they didn't do so this time.

Actually it was explained in the first part of web chapter 8.

Higa and Kikuoka surprised that Kirito retained his memories when he contacted them. Higa explained that it probably because of the damage to his brain before they put him into STL that caused the memory blocking function failed to work properly.

Higa also knew current state of Kirito, saying it was because the electric surge in STL that magnified Kirito's self-blame for the death of Eugeo and causing it to nearly destroy his very soul, just 1 step short of irrecoverable.

By Volume 11, Chapter 5, does Tap and the other TLs mean Volume 11 = Chapter 5 of the alicizazion(?) arc? or chapter 5 of the volume? I'd rather not touch the chapter in case I end up seriously spoiling myself D:. Also, does the observer guy ever show up later in the arc? I liked reading h(er)is lines, (s)he's a very interesting character actually. I'd like to see who his/her/it's master is. Also if ever it get's it's wish to see what lies on the other side of the mountain.

Hello all!

I'm pretty late to the party but SAO's anime was my only experience with the series.
However I AM reading the first novel as of now and enjoying it immensely. My only complaint is lack of sleep from staying up til 3 a.m. each night to read it!

.......but that's my own fault.

It's a shame they left out Kirito's monologues in the anime but I can see why they did.
Still, his character has much more flavor with them!

By what I knew, Asuna was particularly focused on raising her
cooking skill whenever she found time in between training her sword
skills. She answered my question with a proud smile.
“Listen and be surprised! I «Mastered» it last week.”

I thought that for a second. I didn’t say it out loud, of course.
Training skills was mind-numbingly boring and extremely timeconsuming,
and could only be «Mastered» after leveling them up 1000
times. On that note, levels didn’t have anything to do with skills and
went up by gaining experience points. The things that went up with the
levels were HP, strength, stats like dexterity, and the number of «Skill
Slots» which decided how many skills you could learn.
Right now I have twelve slots, but the only ones that had been
completed were my one-handed straight sword skill, Scan for Enemy
skill, and my Weapon Guard skill. It meant that this girl had spent a lot
of time and effort on a skill that wasn’t even of any help in battle.
