Welcome to Fan Creations, colleague, looking forward to your traces. So far, they look very nice. Personally, I admire everyone who has the patience to do this. I would go mad from the frustration. Line after line, curve after curve...just thinking about it gives me a headache! Anyway, I hope to see more of your traces when the time comes! *sending cookies* Oh and btw, love this one the most. ^^

Ah! These are just superb. I like how you include your current projects. I think it's always neat (who still says "neat" these days?) to see works in progress and then be able to see them when they're all radical (might as well throw in other 90's terms) later. Your vectors are the bomb (one more just for good measure)! In all seriousness, your stuff is great.

But really credit for the look goes to the original since its just a trace, I was going to use just strokes but i had time to kill that day so i made all the lines shapes. Some things bug me though like making those white spots(highlights?) they look really strange and i don't want to use "blurr" since i don't really like it.. anime doesnt use blurr its usually just 2 colors on top of each other sometimes weird things happen from video compression artifacting that make it look like blurr though... Something else ive noticed from doing these and looking at other vectors ... Anime styled art looks really bad as its resolution increases ... even if you compensate for increased resolutions it still looks pretty bad.. Maybe its the lack of more shades and details or maybe its just me... I don't know how to "Airbrush" work so i cant test it myself to see if that does actually look better at higher resolutions .. But its something to think about as TV resolutions get higher and higher... My next step is to actually move over to making 3D models of anime characters using Maya... but i'm a good bit away from being able to do things like that ... IMHO, If you feel there's something in the image that displeases you, all you need to do is change it. Quote:
Have you checked Satsumaru's thread? He's doing this sort of thing at the moment, and I think he's actually quite skilled.

Since i use Inkscape it doesnt have an Airbrush tool and while i can use gradients .. its ocmplicated to use them on abnormal shapes like when i open up my Rui file inkscape blows up because i have to use interpolated gradients and it just causes inkscape to crash(those gradients on her are like 200 strokes each its crazy). Only thing i can think of would be taking 2 images of say 7000x7000 resolution one being airburshed and one using the standard 2shade coloring and compare them. There are other thigns beyond coloring too like lines ... Anime doesnt use sharp lines at all and in high resolution it looks bad .. while its easier to fix than colors .. it is another issue that becomes more appearent as the resolution increases. If you look at anime even shows animated in 720P (there are no 1080P anime that i know of) still dont use sharp lines and are still limited to 2 or 3 shades. You know now that i think of it i may just be talking nonsence because i really don't know anyhitng lol.... Quote:
