Like kujoe said, it's very light on memory usage. I like it basically because I have near-instant access to my drives and programs without clutter of icons on my desktop or having to go to the start menu.

I can't say I've made them myself, (though I honestly wish I had... I am still getting to grips with PS and other editing software)
Either way I prefer a minimalist desktop, not really one for lots of buttons as I'm prone to randomly and wildly clicking the desktop...

(there is a perfectly logical reason for that but... It's probably better left unsaid)

I dont think I've ever posted the manabi petal version of this WP before..

as for nrLaunch, it serves the same purpose as docks, it puts an icon in your systray, when if you click, up pops the dialog. this allows you to access all your icons without having to minimize to your desktop. you can even sort your icons onto multiple tabs. the best part is it's 100% skinnable, allowing for lots of interesting designs. here's some links:
