Stiyl is back! Same with Itsuwa! Definitely some familiar faces from the past although I would say that Itsuwa's meeting with Touma is kinda awkward.
Tsuchimikado is back too. Glad to see the show focusing a lot more on storytelling now as it even gives an overview of some of the world events. Terra of the Left makes his appearance! One of the strangest looking characters I've seen but very dangerous as a member of the God's Right Seat. This turned into a pretty eventful episode. I hope they pour more budget into the season as there's some low quality scenes from this week.

Have an album of Itsuwa being unabashedly the best girl.
That being said, I'm having a lot of gripes with the translation. Index seems to have gotten the short end of the stick with its official translations, huh.

Hmm, if we don't include characters from spoiler territory Itsuwa barely fit top20.

So Terra has made his appearance. Even for a franchise like Raildex, I always did feel like he was one of the strangest looking characters.
There are some weird translation choices here, like translating leyline to pipeline. I guess we should be prepared for more. RIP original IB sound effect. Quote:

The animation was disappointing and sometimes lazy. The rioters were actually threatening in both the novel and the manga adaptation. Did they put all their budget into the backgrounds or something? At least the sound and background music was fine.
The scripting is also a bit weird, something I noticed in the first episode as well. There are these strange pauses in the script which are filled with either nods or some grunt of acknowledgement. They could potentially fill in some more crucial dialogue in them. And lastly, the Terra encounter. It felt weird. Terra should have been destroying those buildings but his attacks simply phase through them. I'm glad I have the manga adaptation of this arc to read over. But the next episode should be the first true test for this series as the action ramps up and we'll see just how much is going to be squeezed in this season. For the record, I blame Nishikiori for any issues I see. And lastly, what the fuck is a geoduct? They're supposed to be ley lines goddammit! How could they screw with the translation this much!? Is that an artefact from the Yen Press translation or the English dub? Have the translators not read the series or the wiki?

I mean, really. Index is a series where the details are super important.
One of the reasons that the Index adaptations are inferior to the Railgun adaptations (among many other things) is that details that help explain what's going on are lost in the adaptation (As opposed to Railgun where mostly everything is kept in tact). This is due to the nature of what's being adapted; but I also lay blame to the directors and script writers (and arguably budget) for not necessarily making the most optimal adaptation decisions. So given that there's already a layer of confusion on what's happening on screen (we've already had people mentioning they had no idea what's going on in the previous episode thread), it'll be a nightmare when a second layer of confusion is added with the wonky translation of key terms. Two layers of confusion in a series where the details matter more than in SAO.

That green hair dude had some weird animaton frames sometimes.
Cool ending though. Other than that not a lot happened this episode somehow. Well let's see. Wish the borderline ecchi stuff would stop but I guess it will never... |

So the details are a bit thick but the gist of the situation can easily be summarized as - "God's Right Seat, an organization within the Catholic Church, is using an artifact known as the Document of Constantine, aka. Document of C, to change public perception against Academy City hostile."
Like most if not all of Index's material are based on real world history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donation_of_Constantine Quote:
Looking forwards to the "Fires of Science" next week.
