This series is bad on so many levels, yet I can't keep myself from watching it. I guess it's my current guilty pleasure :P

I've tried to extract the game in order to work even if started offline from hd. Played a couple of hands and it seems to work.

It looks and plays just like the other minigame linked off of the minigame page, just covered in Saki juice. (If you click the ミニゲーム link, it'll take you to a page full of flash minigames by the same company who did this one, and if you play the 麻雀 game, you'll see what I mean.)

It's only a tonpusen (East round only), too. Bummer. Was kind of hoping for at least a regular 2 wind game. Oh well. Free is free.

Is that actually accurate? Really cute if so.

I don't know... I kind of find the comedic aspect of taking a tabletop game and blendering it with a sports anime motif and a 'moe-moe' overload to be entertainingly hilarious.

Heh. Just noticed that the photo they took in Episode 19 was the same photo shown at the end of the first OP, except the first OP had a convenient glare that obscured the trophy Hisa is holding without being too obvious about it, making it look like an ordinary group photo. Nifty.

I wholehearted agree. Considering all the aspects of this series, generic sports story line, inane sports color commentary, characters designed to appeal to a wide assortment of fetishes, and a story revolving around a table game that is difficult to follow for the uninitiated, this series is wonderfully entertaining. My congratulations to the production staff for creating a series that exudes such a strong feeling of fun. Where else could the summoning of the 4Fs (feet, fun, family and friendship) be used to battle a dark princess of moe?

Also worthy of note is the inspired translations in episodes 18 and 19. To the person(s) who dreamed-up "What devilry is this? Those knaves' visages holds nary a trace of defeat’s color." I am certain you giggled yourself to sleep that night.
And in the same spirit of "People die when they are killed" we have the gem of "If I keep winning I will not lose!"

Thank you Saki production team and translators for this entertaining series.

That one sort of makes sense in the context it was said. When the East seat wins a hand, as you may have noticed they play a bonus hand instead of continuing to the next round. When you are East, it is often a valid tactic to keep winning on cheap fast hands while you wait for a strong initial hand that can turn the tables. Hence the if I keep winning... that Yumi said. Unlike Saki that could only win on a Yakuman hand, she could resort to the long term tactic. It is more than a mantra than anything anyway. And she went for the win in any case with the 13 orphans try.

Ironically enough, my editor changed it to that... in the original translation I had

quote: As long as I keep winning, I haven't lost yet! {more literally, "I cannot lose!" but that sounds really ridiculously stupid in english}

{ } note is [sic] my original unedited translation

Heh, mahou shoujo mahjong is hilarious on it's own, but there's just too much fanservice such as these lesbian overtones, constant blushing, hinting of no pantsu and so on. Starting to feel that I'm too old for this stuff (and I'm not even nearly one of the oldest people watching this series ).

That is what I would think few years ago but, believe it or not, Fan-service in Saki is fairly contained. If you want real ecchi fanservice (*cough*softporn*cough*), then there are always series like Queen's Blade, Sekirei, Rosario to Vampire etc. Also, the no pantsu thing is probably a creative solution to the cencorship battle
