I also wonder what's happening to the captured Oracon Seis...I remember some bad guilds are on the council, it would be neat if they got forcibly recruited into one of them. I need more Angel ;D

Seriously...we all know what's going to happen...Evil shows up, Fairy Tail fights evil, Fairy Tail loses at first, Fairy Tail wins in the end, Natsu gains new power-up to beat big bad boss.
Repeat

Then again...Bleach, Naruto, etc all follow the same plotline.

i don't really know what to make of this chapter except that the kitties were cute as always. lol seriously, i'm reading this manga just for the eksheed. i love happy and lily.

That is true. Most shonen's follow the same formula. I still didn't like that they defeated hades only because his heart was discovered. It was a lame way to defeat Hades but without that the formula would not have worked. As for Zeref becoming a full fledge bad guy that would be interesting to see. I wonder if he will take over Grimoire Heart or kill them and make a new guild while he sets whatever plans he has in motion. I just hope the next arc we get a skip from the usual formula of power up natsu only for it to disappear at the end of the arc.

"good versus evil fight with the good guys getting a powerup" is pretty much a basic storytelling mechanic in almost every media featuring a good versus evil story. Not just manga and anime, but novels are filled with it, comics thrive on them, Hollywood is full of it...

So yeah, predictable. But predictable doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed.

looks like Zeref will be final boss.... and Fairy Tail must deal with another two big dark guilds before facing Zeref (it's Hiro Mashima's manga style)
it's a good closing for this arc....

For consistency I thought GH should have been imprisoned by the council like the other dark guilds that FT defeated, but for another chance to see Kain Hikaru fight and Hades fight at full power it was worth it to make an exception imo. Can't wait to see Kain vs Lucy animated.

Although, it's kinda weird about Zeref, it almost feels as if he's a Shenlong made from the Dark Star DragonBalls... 0.o I mean, he's like negative magical energy and thoughts given form, and he himself/itself does not like it one bit.

The method of defeating Hades is also quite formulaic. many stories have plots where the big bad is defeated by finding and destroying/attacking their weakpoint. One notable example not in manga is the death star power core in Star wars. In fact, the whole plot of the lord of the rings was fueled by the ultimate goal of destroying the heart(one ring).

That would make the whole "attack the weak point" plot a trope, and being a trope does not make something bad unless it's not executed right.
