This actually makes me wonder about the number of episodes for Clannad.

+50 episodes perhaps?

10 Years?! Does the story take place throughout an entire decade, or is it like Air's 1000 years with only the present and past?

Sorry for this, maybe it was already mentioned/asked before. What's the relation between this TV series and the movie then? Are they just going to be the same plot-wise?

^ As far as Toei goes, i enjoyed Air the movie quite a lot. Certainly not less than the series. Another title that ranks very highly in my books is Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu.

I see - so the story has all the potential to be more epic than Air and /or Kanon ... time to set my expectations high

Same source material, but different adaptations by two different animation companies working independently. Judging by what occurred with Air, one can expect KyoAni's series to be more faithful to the game than Toei's movie, which will inevitably take liberties with the plot. We can probably expect better animation in the series too.

Yeah, great news. I still want to play the game though

So, the rumors about a Clannad movie are not true, I suppose?
Wait, both a movie and a TV season at the same time?

Damn it, I didn't expect they would announce it this soon. I guess now that Kanon is over, they think it's a good timing to give the fans something to look forward to. But man, didn't I say it that KyoAni would make CLANNAD TV after the movie?

Not exactly. Even though the story does spam over many years, the later years fly by. The main story still focues on the Spring, that's why CLANNAD is put as Spring of Key's "four seasons".

Aww, Iriya.

Have to say that.

ONE already has two OVA series, a hentai and a non-hentai one. I highly, highly doubt it will be animated again into a TV series.

If AIR could be crammed into 13 episodes, then CLANNAD can be crammed into 24 episodes too. Who knows.

Movie is going to be in cinema on 9/15. I expect TV series to start airing in either Winter or Spring (i.e. 08's January or April).

According to ANN, the series is slated for sometime in October '07. Can anybody confirm whether this is true?

Seeing Nagisa's first scene in the promo welled up all sorts of warm memories .・゜・(ノд`)・゜・。

*sigh*

From now till air date, they're just going to torture us with all types of promos, CMs, bangumis, netge, etc.

Sugita playing Tomoya?

うむむ... Sounds attractive, but I'd rather have a different VA this time around. He was great in Kanon and SHnY, but after playing Gekkou no Carnavale, I just don't see his voice fitting with school dramas anymore. I wonder if they will use Ito-san (岡崎朋也)? It seems to be the more faithful choice for fans.

Whoa slow down there, give it a few months. About the Air pattern, I think we all knew it was coming deep down. Maybe it helped to supress that feeling to allow ourselves the chance to still be surprised.

If I were a betting man, I'd be doubling-down on Planetarian right about now

Somewhat off-topic, has there been any word from KEY on their next masterpiece?

Other than a quick glance at the Wikipedia, I know nothing about the story other than a certain guy who authors Megatokyo melts into a puddle at anything Clannad (or Kanon) ... he's probably demolecularized after this announcement.

Well... I enjoyed AIR (though it made a mess of me) and Kanon is a WIN (at least it let you come up for oxygen occasionally with some humor) so I suppose I'm in for this ride whenever it arrives (next year or next fall?).

Who says its going to be a masterpiece? Man though even I know this one, it's something called Little Busters. What is about I don't know, but I'm sure it involves a Car Accident, somebody falling ill and dying, A Tomboy character and a really wishy washy main character.

I'm a betting man though and I'd put down $20 on any given Key project following Clannad.

Since Tomoyo After was mostly created to calm the swarms of people storming the studio wondering where their pr0n had gone, I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

@Kaioshin: Is there anything wrong with letting a little optimism show sometimes? Even I get tired of being cynical all day. Besides, if their last three were huge hits, I think it's okay to expect something from the fourth.
