Like Bun said. The fact is there is no enough novel material to make extra 26 eps. I highly doubt any studio would do a 2nd season being shorter than 1st. But we can have hope still, even tiny one.

At one point in the manga, Mai thinks to herself that she really ought to wear pants when out in the field investigating because she's always getting into situations where wearing a skirt is potentially embarassing. LOL

Later on, there's a note from the mangaka saying she tried dressing Mai in pants at one point, but she didn't like how Mai looked. So that's why Mai is always wearing skirts despite the sensibility of wearing pants during investigations.

I personally like the anime more than the manga. It's just more thrilling watching than it is reading. Also, I like the way the anime is drawn. Well, that's just an opinion.
