Who is the best teacher in anime?

Eikichi Onizuka- a pervert who only became a teacher to lust after young high school girls. He sucks at all subjects. But he proved to be a capable and inspirational teacher. He taught inspirationally valuable moral lessons about life, family, love, loyalty, hope and etc which earned him the fierce respect and undying loyalty of the worst anti-teacher classroom students in history.

Hibiki Amawa- a cross-dressing transvestite who had to dress as a female to get a job at a high school. He encouraged the students to think beyond themselves and beyond the traditional rules of the school and about the love between each other and between themselves and their parents. He also motivated them to try their best to grow up. He was so effective at teaching, he won/earned/gained the support of students, parents and teachers in the end. Also, he was willing to sacrifice his dignity in order to pursue teaching because he loved teaching so much.

Yoshiyuki Terada- a misperceived pedophile who has a crush on Rika. Yet he hardly acted on his feelings. All he did was flatter Rika and encourage/motivate/inspire her to excel in any subjects . That makes him a decent teacher. He was Rika's role model and inspiration.

IMO, my favorite anime teacher is Mika Suzuki from Doki Doki School Hour. She may be in her twenties, but her small size (she's small enough to fit in a sports bag ) and childish looks make her so cute (heck, I consider her to be cuter than child teachers Negi Springfield and Rebecca Miyamoto) and enjoyable.

To list a few and summarize some who've been mentioned already

The Azumanga Daioh teachers -
Negi Springfield from Negima -
Mika Suzuki from Sensei no Ojikan -
Rebecca Miyamoto from Pani Poni Dash -
Washu from Tenchi Muyo (she did apparently hold lectures in her past) -
Eikichi Onizuka - Great Teacher Onizuka
Hibiki Amawa - Ai Mai Me Strawberry Eggs
Mizuho Kazami - Onegai Teacher
Yoshiyuki Terada - sounds familiar. Card Captor Sakura maybe?

Then there's the massive gaggle of teachers from the various dating sim animes. And do we include martial arts instructors and military instructors? Because of course that sets loose a whole new parade of teachers.

I'll hold my vote until I see more.

A best teacher thread without mentioning Yukari-sensei or Nyamo-sensei, yet Kimura-sensei ihas been? That just isn't right...

Of course the actual best teacher would have to be Becky from pani poni dash. Not only is she a genius, she has to handle Ichijou, which can't be easy.

Is Mizuho a good teacher? Some reviewers say she has neither done a good job at teaching nor encouraged students to try their best. Instead she was focusing on fostering her intimate bond with her particular student.

She may be the most loving teacher but not certainly the best.

Ah, he's not just living the dream... he's bested it!

Not only does he get to teach high school girls and spy on them at the pool, he's got a beautiful, affectionate and forgiving wife waiting for him at home too! >.<

He is a god amoung men. ;_;

The teacher I want take classes from would be Onizuka Eikichi because it would be non-stop fun.
I would take classes with Mitsuka-sensei from DearS because it would be interesting to take an english course with her.

Now I could go for recent ones....but I'll go for a World Masterpiece Theater title this time:

Mrs. Josephine "Jo" Bhaer from "Wakakusa Monogatari Nan to Jo Sensei," based on Louisa May Alcott's "Little Men"
