Hm, kind of nice they tied up most of the different origins into Dandy already being sort of a multidimensional being, with the Narrator being the literal God. Although then Dandy sort of accidentally destroyed the universe, but Dandy remembers what's important.
Hm, wonder if it all started from Dandy tugging that cosmic string way back or whether he always existed as that, chicken or the egg. Nah, I'm probably just thinking too much about it. The last episode was particularly crazy with the epic fleet battle, Johnny and Admiral Perry, Bea, I actually felt sorry for Dr. Gel dying like that, not to mention the complete form of Gel's ship. And the whole time Dandy was just dandy, baby. Glad the recurring characters got one last crazy head-on charge to rescue Dandy too. That was a wild, hilarious ride. And the first and possibly only one of its kind in terms of dubbing (literally before the Japanese version aired in most cases). Just loved how much craziness and variety and feels they packed into 26 episodes, going to miss this series a lot, you could never tell what they would try out. Not every episode was great, but the ones that were really, really great more than made up for the weaker ones. The question mark at the end is tempting, but I'm happy with how they ended it already. |

Who was the "real body" of Admiral Perry supposed to be?
The way this show is produced and the in-universe events means they could probably keep making seasons indefinitely if they wanted to. I'm certain the deciding factor will be western reception and sales though, because from what I've observed the Japanese audience for this show was pretty meager, unless I missed something.

Never underestimate the power of a perfectly placed panty shot...
Some parts of the finale felt a tad bit rushed, but damn was it beautiful. Watanabe has never failed to deliver with finales and that remains true here. Space Dandy really was a show we don't see in anime very often. An absolute experimental blast that said screw you to convention and delivered episodes that couldn't be any different from each other. Even things that people complained about like the episodic nature and narration were revealed to be part of the plot all along. Indeed Space Dandy sometimes plays as a middle finger to those criticism. There's nothing quite like it and I'm sad to see it go. Second Season gets a 9/10. So Sayonara, Man who said "screw it" to becoming God. |

Well that is very SRW-OGish. Dandy doesn't only exist simultaneously between universes but he is a remnant of the previous universe... And he vaguely remembers it.
In this iteration Dandy values legs... Can't say I disagree. Bea we had an indication once he can be a villain who knew he'll go all the way? Heh the greatest scientific minds hasn't figured out that Warping is just moving from one universe to another. Only Dandy figured it out. |

Weird, that final ep gave me a lot of EoE vibes.
So he basically killed the narrator/god by kicking his Throne? Just as one would expect of Dandy. But doesn't this episode also imply that the virus from the zombie episode even works on a god, does it? Heh. Those final scenes, though. His final motivation and source of strength to save the universe was a shot of Honey's ass with visible panties. Then he refused the throne of the narrator as he won't be able to go to Boobies as a flesh and blood human being anymore. Finally, he started anew as a legs-man. I guess Dandy just likes everything about women.
