a.ka. "Takuto's Heroic BSOD"

It's always nice to see a show that can read the mood. (Well, the ED theme played a little abruptly last episode, but they had credits to run.) A very somber episode for the first part - Takuto, shunted back into a completely mundane life. Nice to see Futaba again, but something just doesn't...feel right. I'd expect this somber atmosphere more from Chaos;Head and the like. Even weirder was seeing a dark blue haired Suzuho talking without her notepad. But the OP theme didn't play - it would seem out of place this week.

As it turns out, Takuto's trapped in his own head. Surprised to see Tanarot recover so well from last week's injuries. So it's into his head they go. Well, it takes both Tanarot (with oddly placed light flares) and Takuto himself to break out of this depressing world, but they did it. The moment itself was inspiring, and by all means this played out like a finale.

But there's still one more episode to go. And for that, I couldn't be happier.

Wow, I didn't expect this level of seriousness from this series though thankfully it wasn't too over the extreme.

But the whole episode was basically gloom and doom with the fate of Takuto not sure until the later parts of the episode. But all's well that ends well I have to say.

Takuto was being trapped in his own dream seen as he went berserk and because he has some special powers that can change the balance of good and evil (or something like that). Gab and Ag became guardians to ensure that Takuto wasn't going to be set free by the others but they didn't count on Eitarou to not be human.

Actually that scene was the best in this episode...Eitarou and his OVER9000 powerup scaring the crap out of both Gab and Ag

But I was hoping that Hapshiel might have showed up to show them a thing or too though this episode isn't exactly great for random comedy to be popping up now.

Spoiler for Macademi 12 - A Macademi Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All:

I have to give it to ZEXCS for this one. Besides having a name that I can never remember how to spell right, I couldn't have picked a better time to watch this show. While 11 fit most of the standard ways of a finale, this is the note that Macademi should end on.

Having the whole cast out in full force, for one. Even Futaba. So many little moments throughout that listing them all would most likely be an encapsulation of the epsiode.

* Ataro's Death Note-style manga drawing technique. This is why he's the man.
* Violence in skimpy Christmas outfits.
* George praying to Jesus and wearing a skimpy Christmas outfit. In that order too. Also, he finds love with Hapshiel. I wasn't expecting that, but find that it touches me...in parts I'm not sure I want touched.
* Killer toys. ARMAGEDDON BLAZER! Anileon is an awesome toku hero.
* Car chases - set to "M-O-E-S ~ K-S-K Suru Shoudou." I love that song.
* Takuto's harem doing good deeds - set to "Kiseki no Furu Yoru~Crystal Christmas." Much like Rental Magica, a Christmas episode with Christmas music is a good thing to have.
* The Academy going to a new, bigger place and...Takuto's harem instantly destroys it, taking the show into one last round of "MOSO Ranbu".

Such an all around awesome finale. Macademi and Christmas. I couldn't ask for more.

In conclusion, what went from "the show that was based on those novels that sounded interesting" jumped from "this is pretty good" to "one of my favorites from this season." Having it air during the same weekend as Kemeko was nice, though I'd say it even topped that in terms of pure wackiness. It had some somber moments and one sweet one, but for the most part, the show really delivered with the comedy. And the music. This will be the season where I learned Akeno Watanabe can rock. Merry Christmas, one and all.

Though I still keep thinking one of the girls first seen in episode one looked a lot like Addie.

I was pleasantly surprised by epi 9. The first part had me on the floor since Eitaro is just evil The 2nd part with Eineus and Takuto was very sweet, a welcome change from the crack that normally makes up this show. I kept wondering how Takuto was able to escape and be with Eineus without his harem showing up. I loved Eineus scolding Eitaro at the end for calling her a "motherly figure" XD The Master getting it from the servant is always hilarious.

Also in epi 8 where Falce poses for the camera...kami save me but I had a little moment need icon of that!!

Watched ep 12, and for the series as a whole if you're going to have a fanservicey anime, might as well run with it and have FUN with it. That's why Macademi Wasshoi succeeds where many fail. Wasshoi!!

The little sequence in episode 12 where Ataro is drawing his manga has Death Note-style effects on it. Extreme closeups at odd camera angles, gritty lighting, red flashes of light. Dude takes his manga drawing very seriously.

What an absolutely amazing, epic and hilarious episode to end the series. I especially loved the way they used references to other series so creatively.

The entire car chase just screamed initial D to me (which is strangely not a series I have actually watched but do have the OP/EDs for), I just digged the awesome BGM during that scene.
Then we have the all so obvious Eitarou Light

I feel so sorry for Miyabi and Sync...they really do need their own spin off adventures to do them some justice.

An a less obvious eye catch was kaiji...zaaaa waaa

Hapshiel's unexpected appearence was also a highlight to the ep.

So the series ended with a bang, I can only hope for a second season though the chances might not be that high

One thing I do need is...the OST!!!

A few quick points from what I saw in episode 11 and 12 before I leave...

Spoiler for Episode 11:

- I've taken baths deeper than Macademi Wasshoi, so when the episode started I in for a big surprise; For one thing, Takuto is the true danger that all the bigshots were wary of, well maybe both him and Tanarotte, but hey she wasn't getting the royal screw-over treatment. For another, deep talks filled the second half of the episodes with some mysteries.


- I don't know what those deformed... Things that Takuto probably summoned from 'Silent Hill' (>.>) are, but I sure wouldn't want to piss him off ever again


- When the next scene started, I was already guessing if Takuto was in the past, or was this the future after what had happened. As it turns out, from what I could gather, this is an alternate world where Takuto didn't become a magician, Profession 'Hang-man' was more or less trying to prevent Takuto and Tanarotte from meeting... And boy what a depressing world it was... Suzuho died because of her condition and Takuto lived an emo crappy shit life.


- Here's when things get interesting, in the real world while Eitaro, Tanarotte and Falce attempts to rescue Takuto and Suzuho, they met with resistance from Gabriel and Agarin. Eitaro held them off just enough for both girls to get pass. In addition, just as a few people had suspected, Eitaro seems to be more than just human... Agarin left the clues 'Sa' and 'En' before he and Gabriel got pwned.


- But that's not the last we've saw of Eitaro. In Takuto's alternate world without Magic, he came across a young boy playing. If you look carefully at his shadow, you can see that it fits Eitaro's shape. This futher deepen the mystery of Eitaro's true identity.


- I thought the ending was beautiful. No matter what happens, or how different things become- Both Takuto and Tanarotte are Destined to meet eventually.

Spoiler for Episode 12:

- God dammmmnnn~ Just when you thought they couldn't destroy George any futher, they got Hapshiel to show him the 'light'... My god, this has got to take the cake as one of the worst fate to ever happen upon a gag character


- Sagami sensei and Trin running into the girls while out on their christmas date... HAH! I always knew something was up with those two...!!! But more importantly *cough* >.> was his reaction to them fighting


- Holy shit at Agarin's ride!! Now he's definitely the rockstar of the moe business Just listen to that kitten purr And I'm definitely digging the insert song that came along with it


- Sennen Goroshi + Giga Drill Breaker = Indescribable Punishment


- A nice a simple christmas song I accidentally heard it from somewhere else before watching the episode though


- Wait, I missed out; So who was that Santa Clause again? IS it the School Principle?!


- Deathkillz and others might be amuse to hear this, but in the ending scene where Suzuho trashed Haruka's team of Golems, one of the robots had an 'image' of Fate Yes, that Fate.

This is like a show done by a 2/4chaner isn't it?

It's so stupid and silly I'm going to watch it all the way.

Wow 10 was uncannily (is that even a word) good. The ping-pong battle was epic XD But the end was totally unexpected...I cant wait for 11!!

Also nice for them to have some fangirl scenes in the onsen (and I dont mean cupid-boy...)

this show is proof that high production values and being able to balance things properly can go a long, long, long way in making a show good, hell fantastic in this case

I mean when you have an episode dedicated to a ROCKET and the personification of a computer, and it's STILL done really well, then you've got something special on your hands.
