i actually like ayu's name a lot... especially her last name tsukimiya it just sounds sooo nice,the meaning of it being moon palace gives it a really romantic feel to it...awww...i'm such a sucker for these things :S the girls make kanon an interesting anime, i reckon yuuichi was definitely a big contributor! but i've always thought his love for ayu was a bit sudden...like before, he would tease her just as he would tease any other girls anyway and then suddenly... i don't know, i felt that was a bit rushed, was i the only one? but i like his character, coz he aint tooo perfect but aint so typically flawed like some anime boy character, it just gives yuuichi more of an interesting characteristic. i guess i admired his ability to not hold back his opinion when he's with the girls unlike some of the anime boys who would just becoz the girls are cute or something :P

Well, that would explain why she keeps stealing those fish-shaped snacks! I thought that was funny.

Sometimes I think the Japanese have a lot of fun with their language, or perhaps they are very frustrated because it is so full of riddles. ^_^

Oh, and it seems I have neglected to mention that when I began High School, I moved to live with my cute cousin and her parents, who I had met often during the summer holidays of my childhood. So of course it was very easy for me to identify with the male main character! This anime will always have a special place in my heart for that reason.

Yes! My life is like an anime! Heh.

um...is it??? from memory ( i don't even know where this is from and why it had implanted in my memory...but anywayz!) it's not ok to marry your first cousin but it is ok to marry others...don't know about legally tho, but apparently if you marry your first cousin and when you have a child, your child is most likely to have a defect of some sort :S

but don't worry, ayu is not yuuichi's cousin...unfortunately, my favorite nayuki is...

It's legal to marry your first cousin in Japan, Canada, Europe (less sure), and some states of USA.

There is higher chance to get a child with genetic defect if you marry your first cousin....
The worst estimate is about 7%.

omg. i didnt know so many ppl liked kanon... i only watched the anime, and loved it, and as was said earlier, treat it like a fairytale instead of a realistic show... everyone's story is so sad, especially makoto and shiori... and ayu's name is ayu ayu =P lol... how can it be a H game? everyone look so insanely cute and adorable...
btw, the music (which 1?) is based on kanon in d? dont sound like it...
its almost impossible to differentiate favourites, everyone has such a deep story. after reading the earlier posts, i realised how much i missed for nayuki's story. her story seemed so short.
rankingwise, 1. Ayu Ayu Tsukimiya. Her uguuuuu~ does it for me -_-" 2. Makoto. She might be bratty, but her story was extremely nice.

3. Shiori. her story.

4. Mai. dunno. shes too quiet, although i liked her story... it was a little too abrupt. 5. nayuki. the anime dont show anything of her, besides the fact that she loved yuuichi...
anyway, yuuichi is a real good main character... hes so willing to help the girls. but i wonder, y did he dislike makoto so much at first?

hmmm... i reckon when you have been in a coma, your body still grows coz isn't it only your brain that has shut down but every part of the body is still growing as normal?? it's an interesting fact that you've brought out here, coz mentality would play an important role in their relationship and ayu...well...honestly is still immature in thought as you said and there's a lot for her to learn

the physical development, therefore, i believe is not a supernatural happenings, coz it's like those ppl that can't move or think but they're still alive (can't remember the medical term for those patients...???) but the mental part... well, the anime didn't show any ethical or issues with depth that would really bring out ayu's real mentality state...

about the coma... nobodys really seen anyone get into a coma for 7 years... but yea, the body still functions and only the brain goes into unconscious state... according to the anime ending, she seem to act rather childish, though...

If Shiori had died, I'd have had a break down and I'd be in a straight jacket right now mentally blocking out all emotion from my brain for the rest of my semi-consconsious drugged up life.

The show was tragic enough.

That's why I said "a lot' and not 'all.' Except for a few rare cases, having h-games without bishoujo aimed at guys is a very hard sell.

but having seen the anime first, it's hard to imagine that it is a H game, coz everyone has such a good storyline and all....

roguenoir Rogue Member Join Date: Feb 2004	There's something about the ending that has been bothering me: Spoiler: Ayu was in a coma for 7 years and should be about 16 or 17 (Yuuichi's age) when she woke. So she's a little child in an adolescent's body. This is a little evident in that she's one of the least mature characters (Makoto being the other) though this could likely be pure coincidence. It would be interesting if they were to continue the series and see how this significant difference in mental age and maturity plays into Ayu and Yuuichi's relationship. Also, do people grow when they're comatose? Seems to make sense that their bodies completely shut down except for the most fundamental life functions. Again, Ayu isn't in her 10 year old body anymore but still much smaller in height and stature than the other girls her age. Having seen Onegai Twins, I remember a part where the main character said he stopped growing when he was in a coma for 3 years. Perhaps Ayu's mental and physical development not being completely halted by her coma is yet another one of those "supernatural happenings." Any ideas?
