I don't know if this is asking too much but could someone translate(or maybe even softsub) http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28268.html the speech and those kanji's. I really appreciate it if you even try translating that. Thanks.

@LiberLibri: one thing, would it make more sense if the phrase was ore wa, tamashii yo uta? I had to base my question off what Im hearing and not actually reading it. I think what I heard as no might be yo if that helps any.

Greetings:
I know this might be a little long but I'd really appreciate a translation FAR better than Google Translation Services can give with this blog report from http://yujibatta.blog118.fc2.com, thank you! |

Supposedlu Untranslatable
Hi!
This is supposedly "untranslatable" by the users of this anime blog -- unless they're trying to discourage forum participation by "foreigners" like moi! Please take a crack at it! Thanks! |

There are 3 terms for 'realm' but the definition for this one, seems to fit best for the meaning of 'realm' in terms of God to me. Other translators may have more historical knowledge on the different terms and offer suggestions

I don't know the subtle nuance of "realm" in English, but my first impression was that it could be translated as "神の領域" (kami no ryouiki); in Japanese, the phrase is often used when something is far beyond the ability of a normal person. For example, Liszt Ferenc's piano was "kami no ryouiki". @Peanutbutter003 Excerpt: Quote:

in terms of ryouki: 領域 【りょういき】 (n) area; domain; territory; field; region; regime; (P) [Ex] かかわってくる問題は経済学の領域をはるかに越えている。 The questions involved go far beyond economics -that idea of realm is more to do with 'area' of let's say knowledge and expertise as that example shows. More related with definition #3 as shown below methinks.... General dictionary definition is as follows: –noun 1. a royal domain; kingdom: the realm of England. 2. the region, sphere, or domain within which anything occurs, prevails, or dominates: the realm of dreams. 3. the special province or field of something or someone: the realm of physics; facts within the realm of political scientists. So as always, it depends on meaning of 'realm' -karumA- meant when he wanted that translation. I figure we should make people specify the exact meaning they want first when they want translation from english to japanese, seeing how sensitive japanese is as a language.

Thanks.
I mean, I know the definition of the word, but there should be something delicate that only natives know. For example, you could say "provincial government", but "realm govenment" sounds trange, doesn't it? Likewise, "territorial dispute" is a correct wording while "realm dispute" cannot be accepted. I believe "realm" (or any other words) has its own realm in the semantic continuum. English users hate re-iteration of words and therefore tend to change the terminology even in similar contexts so much that learners like I sometimes have difficulty in discovering the kernel of the concept. Now I recognise strongly the critical necessity of dual correction in translation. >Lucky☆Star Script It reads (from down to below, 1.jpg to 2.jpg): Tsukasa:T Yamato:Y Kagami:K Izumi:I Konata:O K Eh, what did you say? Y No. Forget it. Now, what's your business? K Can you spare minutes for me? I want to talk about the school festival. Y No. I have nothing to do with it. K Yes, you have something! It involves all members of our class. Y Then, suppose that I were not the member. K How dare you say so? You sound quite irresponsible. Y I have had no responsibility since the beginning. Can we stop chatting now? K No! Do you think you are privileged? Y Not really. I think I am just what I am. K Shut up the nonsense. You are kidding me! T What's the mess? Stop the quarrel! K I know I shouldn't, but this girl... M Calm down please. I heard your conversation. I understand both of your positions. So, please now. O Ms. Nagamori, I see you dislike the troublesome school festival. But I beg you for your help. |

I have a little request, as part of my fanfic background research (as I'm gonna incorporate it into a graduation scene): can anyone translate Mary Schmich's famous "Sunscreen" speech to Japanese romanji?
http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/lyrics/graduation.htm Here and and a PM would be very helpful. Full credit to the translator in the fanfic I'm working on.

I'm having trouble reading these ( I know they're not that hard, but I'm kind of slow):
Correct me if I'm wrong but is this 執着していないような言動があったが . shuujaku shiteinai you na gendou ga atta ga? 偽名 - gimei ? 身元 - I'm not sure about this one 黙認していた 数ヶ月後 出版する You don't have to give the meaning, just the romanization would be nice. Last edited by Nervous Venus; 2008-07-08 at 16:09. |
