This anime is definitely not targeted at kids. It's targeted at a much larger audience. It's particularly going for the older super hero geeks.

The universe is starting to be fleshed out. Wild Tiger was inspired by Mr Legend. I guess Mr Legend was a hero during the golden age, before endorsements and the like.

I'm guessing that excessive collateral damage and the like led to the government to heavily regulate super powered vigilantism and NEXT.... similar to what happened in the Incredibles or Marvel.

I guess super heroes have to be sponsored in order for them to be legal and insured. It seems the active super heroes have to live with a lot of red tape.

Anyhow, Tiger and Barnaby have the same power. For 5 minutes, they're Superman. The others aren't as powerful but don't appear to have time limits.

I wonder if Barnaby is Mr Legend's son. The guy that appears to be his father has a similar jaw. With a blond wig and fake mustache, he'd look like him. It also makes me wonder if Tiger and Barnaby could be related but not know it. They do have the same powers.

Tigers daughter may have powers, too.

I wonder where they'll go with this. How long is this series? 12, 24, 52+?

This is surprisingly doing rather well on amazon japan's pre order rankings.

Right now...

http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/dvd/ref=sv_d_3

Tiger and Bunny Vol 1 is #7 and Vol 2 is #30.

Steins;gate vol 1 #56
Hanasaku vol 1 #88
Steins;gate vol 2 #91
Denpa Onna vol 1 #93

IS Vol 1 after 3 weeks only hit #28...

Anyway Steins;gate has a massive points lead at the moment but Tiger and Bunny is the clear #2 atm from shows with release dates. Even though Vol 1 is cheap, seeing Volume 2 high up is encouraging.

Interesting, is T&B a late night or evening anime? What time does it air?

Let's see

-This show ended up capturing more of the American comic book feel than any of the Marvel Anime projects lol

-It's actually something that I would absolutely love to read in a comic book. This alternative retelling of superheroics being commercialised to the logical extreme. I do believe that this idea was played with before, but this show managed to maintain the ''feeling'' of how this was almost from the pages of a comic.

-While he has a cute daughter (), that's not the reason why I like Tiger so much. No, the reason has to do with how, despite him being as cynical about this ''business'' as anyone in the show, he is honestly the most faithful, true to character expy of Peter Parker I had seen. Its amazing, that when his circumstances, backstory and family are not similar, but the character is still in it's core that poor man who only wants to do good despite being stuck in a cynical world where having the power to help others translates to being an attention whore, who is constantly screwing up while doing the right thing, who no one really likes, and who always disappoints the people he holds dear to his heart despite trying not to (the scene where he was swinging and trying to call his daughter to tell her he was late was what sold me on this idea)

-The CG ... wasn't that bad. I expected to hate it, but it was actually fairly okay for the most part.

-I'm split about the product placement here. On one hand, it ties nicely into how every hero here is actually a bill board for certain companies, on the other hand it's blatant advertisement.

-Cyclone and Dragon Kid are personally the two whom I thought looked the best designed to be honest, hopefully Cyclone will graduate from simply being in the background (I mean come on ...).

Overall, awesome stuff.

Very nice to see. Funny to think I thought this would be a horrible show AND a flop just a month back. I'm talking not even 1000 copies sold flop. I shouldn't doubt Sunrise's magic.

Is there, like, a blog that keeps track of this points stuff? I've never really understood how that works.

It's moved up to #5 now and Vol. 2 is #24. Being beaten by your own release in Unicorn and the latest hit with otaku in Madoka Magica is nothing at all to be ashamed of.

That's good news. I've never liked typical comic book hero type stories but I do like the ones that put an interesting twist to it like The Incredibles. I'm rather liking Tiger & Bunny for the interesting twist of superhero crime fighting becoming a commercial buisiness and the comedy duo is great too, especially Tiger who really earned some brownie points for going the extra mile for that kid.

I think that can be contributed to Wild Tiger's new costume not allowing the viewer to see his face most of the time, as facial expressions are very key when it comes to seeing someone's reactions to a near-tragic incident.

Hopefully they will involve the other superheroes more, as they are an interesting bunch in terms of design.
Given how the OP features the other heros in their regular attire, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them.

Looks like whether the fujoshi-baiting was deliberate or not, Sunrise is definitely having fun with it now. All those hair-tossing and underwear shots of Bunny - not to mention the tortured "Top or bottom?" debate in the elevator...

Interesting reaction from Blue Rose at the end. What is the use of a secret identity when you don't change clothes Kotetsu.

I do have to wonder if Blue Rose is another one who is quasi-mentored by Tiger. I have a feeling the reason why she joined the hero biz is connected to him.

Oh Mr. Legend is The Cape. The very first hero of Sternbild city.

Lol, Bunny sure is adept at keeping his public image going.
Tiger on the other hand just seems to do terrible at being "fake" whether its in a simulation or for the script.

Love how they resolved the bomb issue. Their powers are based on physical strength, so brute forcing it once in a while is something Bunny-chan needs to get used to.

Heh, another good episode emphasizes on the heroic traits of Kotetsu and Barnaby. Lulz at crappy reality shows and stupid paparazzis following Barnaby and keeping tabs to his daily activities even to his house as opposite to poor Kotetsu. Kids being lined-up for asking Barnaby's signature while Kotetsu forces kids to take his cards for free lmao. It also made me grin when the bearded reporter guy asking where does Barnaby usually pick up girls from the streets. Reminded me of my office hours... Somehow I didn't like the Bunny joke in this episode.

This show is definitely targeted to adults and enjoyable so far. Next week is Blue Rose. hmmm fanservice..

Really liked this episode and how they solved the bomb problem.

Overall I'm liking the premise and the characters. Bunny is starting to grow on me as it seems he thinks very tactically and seems to have some military background or something of the like.

Understood, but i was expecting more along the lines of hands dropping to the sides (shock reaction), dropping to knees (emotional reaction after recovery of senses) or attempts to ascertain life signs (cool headed reaction after initial shock) or at the least some jerking (ala muscle spasms from shock reaction)
