100 Year old man drives his cadillac into 9 kids and 2 adults.

Wow that is one healthy looking 100-year old. Despite hitting kids and being probably classed as a carelessly dangerous elder, he is surprisingly clear-minded for that age.

We need Google cars and mass transit and we need retesting -- not just of old people but of *everyone*. If you want a license to drive 5000 pounds of metal, you should have to prove you can handle it periodically.

AARP say that is age discrimination.

Note I said *everyone* And the AARP is full of it, statistically, the elderly (including me) show significant declines in reaction time and visual acuity as they age. A government should focus expenditures on the areas that return the most bang for buck

However, my country has so many people of any age who can't drive for shit, I'd welcome periodic retesting and required continuing education for every license like airplane pilots have to undergo.

Think of the job creation (but it might be cheaper to go the mass transit and google-car route <rofl>).

True, but mass transit seen to be disliked in the US, or is it than they love so much their car.

part of the dislike is because mass transit is so crappy here.

I'm starting to sympathize with the GOP. Fucking beggars asking for handouts is annoying, if not revolting.

That, and the fact (at least on the West Coast) that everything is very spread out. Most people commute more than 20 miles each way. Heck, even my commute is 11 miles/17.7km each way and I ride a bike.

We have some mass transit systems. But because of just how spead out the major metropolitan areas are on the West Coast, some of it is impractical.

The idea of bullet trains to get from San Francisco to Los Angeles has been brought up before. But some consider it a waste of money just to get from one major city to another when it is 400 miles away and you have airports handling that already in 45 minute hops.
