Ai: Tenchi Muyo!

A new Tenchi Muyo! series is scheduled for release on October 6, 2014, on Tokyo MX at 9:55 JST called Ai: Tenchi Muyo! It will be 50 episodes with 5 minutes per episode, by AIC.

I'm not sure what to expect from this series, since they are shorts. I'm hoping it will be a continuation of the Ryo-Ohki OVA series, even if the 3rd OVA series added characters which did not make sense relative to the first two OVA series. Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki is still my favorite anime.

In the story, the world is in trouble because Washu is stirring up trouble again. In order to save the world from crisis, Tenchi goes undercover as a teacher in a girls' school. However, many problems arise as Tenchi is predisposed to finding trouble.

The anime will be set in Takahashi, as the city hopes fans will come on a "pilgrimage" to see the setting of the anime, and plans to sell goods and host related events.

what the! I though its a 20 minute series but 50 5 minute series!? I hope it will not be omake type animation but a proper animation.

Just think of it as 12.5 episodes (or 1 cour) of 20 minute episodes, stretched out over a year. :P

What else could they do next I wonder?

Guess I'll add this on my few lists of new shows to watch.

Actually, I was pretty sure that the 3rd OVA was not supposed to be the last of it. There were plans to make 6 more. However, the creator decided to create Tenchi Muyou! War on Geminar instead. After that, he was indecisive about doing Tenchi Muyou! Ryo-Ohki 4th OVA or War on Geminar 2. So now, we have this new series, whatever it will be.

Also, from what I've read, it looks like 3rd OVA series went off track because another influential writer, Hasegawa Nahoko, was not a part of it. In addition, I didn't like the music (besides the OP) in both 3rd OVA and War on Geminar because the original Music guy, Nagaoka Seikou, was not a part of it.

If they brought everyone back together, I'm sure that will have an awesome product. For now, I think the word is it might be a continuation of the 3rd OVA.

Disappointing that since they are using an alternate Tenchi, this means it is ANOTHER spinoff that will, once again, have nothing to do with the main OVA universe and as such is entirely disposable.

Had they used a different main lead, we could have assumed this is another facet of the OVA universe. Now we know this is of no consequence and has no future.

The art is good but personally I'd rather see Kajishima himself handle the art
