Kotaro Uchikoshi? You mean the writer of Ever17? That Kotaro Uchikoshi?

Count me extremely intrigued.

Haven't watched the PV as of yet, but by the time I see the visuals and the staff behind it, it's pretty shocking to see MAPPA working on an anime with idealized cutesy designs like this.

The premise doesn't intrigue anyone that had a dislikeable spot on fanservice, I didn't mind it however and I can already see the show actually going more for it than that.

Well this is weird but I do like weird. Also keep in mind people that MAPPA has done Teekyuu which is basically tennis on steroids (and then some) so really I'm not that surpise for them to do something like this. It does have a writer well known for mind rape (well at least I think so) so there's that too. I don't know. Either way I'll just let this clearly insane show wash over me when it airs.

Man, after reading the other noitaminA announcements -- two novel adaptations, one of them a classic, and a sci-fi original -- I was starting to think they were back on track.

And then this.

Yep. And aren't they doing another fanservice show?

NoitaminA is showing SaeKano this winter, it was your usual romantic harem comedy only with Fumiaki Maruto on board (he'll write the first episode which is anime original material from what I've heard).

Gainax director, famous VN writer on script, one of KlK animators as character designer and MAPPA. I doubt it will be yor generic ecchi-comedy.

Judging by the preview, I'd say that MAPPA is trying to play on the usual Trigger territory.

See I look at it as guy that happened to work on a project out of Gainax long past their creative prime and nothing else before or since, eroge writer who I've never heard of, some guy that worked on a goofy fun show as an animator now doing some character designs to provide a familiar feeling and a studio with a pretty good track record who has unfortunately clearly been handed a project by Aniplex/Sony to fill time on a block they seem to be looking to axe due to generally low profit potential as opposed to their usual sort of fare. Last time that happened we got the kind of interesting at first but ultimately incredibly disappointing and forgettable Terror in Resonance and that held more potential promise than this looks like it ever will at face value

Realistically this just looks like an attempt to make some money out of the block as it's being slashed down to 30 minutes again by going more otaku friendly and nothing be it the staff, description or preview gives me any reason to suspect otherwise. If people are into pantsu comedy and looking for high budget ecchi material I have a feeling this will satisfy them, but there's no reason to suspect any more than just that.

You want to make me facepalm? He worked on a bunch of very famous non-ero mystery VNs. I don't even know how someone who are into anime never heard about Ever 17, 999 or Zero Escape.

Just never really heard of them lol. I've been following anime for a good couple of decades long before some of the newer markets like LN/VN's cropped up, but have never really followed those scenes all that much so there's probably tons of people from that scene that have been increasingly making their way into anime that I've just never heard of. This guy could very well be super famous within that scene for all I know but I've literally never heard his name before today.

If nothing else this looks like the most original thing Uchikoshi has ever done.

You mean the studio with two TV anime and a 20-minute short film, all of which are quite different from each other?
Unless you're referring to Gainax? Which, um, isn't unusual or odd considering that the staff for this are literally from Gainax?
What are you trying to say here, exactly?

Ok, I think I should've actually say that it reminds me of Hiroyuki Imaishi's works

All of them were already posted on ANN

BTW. One guy just made me notice a funny wordplay with the title: Punchline/Panchira in

Agreed.

I enjoyed Ever17 and the Zero Escape series on DS, but I'd like to see if Uchikoshi can write something that doesn't involve mental time travel

Ever17 writer is good but seriously, the premise just looks really uninteresting in general. I think the other noitamina announced shows are my cup of tea. Its not really the genre I have a problem with , just I don't care about what this series is going to explore with that premise.

I thought this was just another ecchi show or something, but saw Kotaro Uchikoshi and I was like WHAT??

Last I heard, Uchikoshi was trying to get the third game in the 999/VLR series greenlit. I guess he's paying the bills or something, tbh.
