Watched the first two episodes and.... soccer is pretty interesting, isn't it? I didn't know I could have named some of my kicks to have them sound so fierce when I played for my college! Both episodes were pretty good. I laughed my a** off to this unpretentious integration of the concept shounen, and sports to the truest sense. Hopefully, there will be a kick that starts out with ka-me-Ha-Me-HAAAAA!
Nice job, DATS! Keep up the hard work.

I do think Inazuma Eleven would suit kids better. But for a rather rote shonen sports show, it seems well made. At least WAY better made than Blue Dragon. |

I'm sorta surprised how high quality each episode is for a shonen soccer anime. Ep by ep, it's like they put more money into each episode of this than let's say: Bleach. Can't wait to see more crazy soccer powers. And hopefully an interesting plot twist, even if it's unlikely.

And DATS releases a MASSIVE three episodes in two days!!
I mean, I know it's an utterly formulaic shounen sports series, but can it even get MORE generic than it actually is? They're learning "killer techniques"; EVERYONE in the team's gonna be in the spotlight sooner or later; and the Teikoku school has probably read the "Shounen Villain's Manual" over and over, 'cause they're following the formula TO THE LETTER! They've got TWO FRIGGIN' SPIES in Raimon's Team! If they really want to stop Raimon's advance in the Soccer Frontier, what the hell are their spies doing?! |

I`ve followed this show on TV a bit when it was on in the mornings before One Piece, and I find it amusing precisely because of how rediculous it is ^_^
If you think that Teikoku gakuen is cheezy, wait till you see the `final boss` team of the first season. I don`t think I even saw them touch the ball themselves -_-;; Also, Spoiler for small spoilers for season 2:

* Queue Star Trek intro music.... * "Soccer...the final frontier...these are the voyages of the Raimon Gakuen team...it's mission: to seek out killer techniques; to defeat strange, new opponents; to never give up and to boldly go to the limits of SHOUNEN CHEESINESS no show has ever gone before!!!"
Sorry, couldn't resist! |
