Knowing that The Anine if it's a 2cour will end around The September. And that The end of the anime should be the end of the Semi Final... Factoring in the fact that the anime and the manga featured the same scene when the anime end..
Yes 1 year

Speculation as usual. Par for course for Saki, though very often it's missed the mark. I mean who would have predicted BURNING WHEELCHAIRS UNDERWATER from this series? I didn't.

Just because Shinohayu isn't finished doesn't mean Shino can't appear in the main series. I imagine the Shinohayu will end around the same time the main manga final reaches vice-captain round where some of the events happening in the present day finals match will be parallel to what happened in the Shinohayu.

Besides, we still have no idea how many chapters there are for Shinohayu to conclude.

All I know is that I'll laugh if Shinohayu gets animated before the rest of the Finals.

I'm actually expecting it. Sigh... Season 2 of Saki will probably consist of Quarterfinals + Semifinals of Side B. If we follow the time line, the manga should barely finish the captain match. Perhaps finish it concurrently?

Anyway, after Season 2 is over. We can probably get another spin-off anime of Shinohayu while Ritz draws the main manga.

... I think Ritz managed to train my pessimistic streak

Of Course not.

-After the team's final there are the individual.
-Then the world cups.
-The third year's good bye match.
-Then The winter tournament (Will we finally know what it is?)

-Then Saki becomes a second year and the region's start anew ( who will be Kiyosumi new member? What's her past and her link to others? Who managed to beat Tsuruga/ Kazekoshi before the final)
-Then The National, What is awaiting Mako's team ( she is the new Buchou) , Will Kiyosumi manage to do it twice now that they are a know factor? Will Saki make it twice? Will Achiga be useful? World Cup Bis?

- Then Thrid year , With Saki/ Nodoka/ Yuuki as buchou.
Same as second year but with Maho as the new character. Who will take the place of Ryuumonbuchi. Will Kyosumi become flood with applicants.

-Then there is Teru Hisa, Yumi , Mako, Touka and the other in the college league And the teams all get scrambled all over the Japon.
-Then Saki & Co also get into college and there is the Pro-leagues

This is endless. And each time we learn more about the players (Saki) Past thank to "awesome" flashback.

Ah the joy of being a Sakifanfic author

Wait WHAT?! January?

But, that means it will stop at the quarterfinals though. Its going to be split cour then?

Agreed, if this is ture, it's way too early. I will have to lower my expectation since it may not even cover semifinals. After TV airing, it's possible that it may continue as extra boardcast episodes like in Achiga which I'm personally not very fond of that method. I prefer to wait longer for 2 cour rather than this 1 cour + xx episodes.

Btw, shouldn't we better discuss this on the upcoming anime thread?

ANN confirms: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...ed-for-january

So, I guess the animators have given up on covering the semifinals within the next year, and just went ahead with animating what has been covered?

I personally think this scenario is rather unlikely. The semi-finals probably have content for enough episodes that the animators can add in fillers to make 2 complete seasons.

My personal speculation at this point:
  • Jan 2014: Saki Zenkoku: Season 1 - Quarterfinals
  • ???: Saki Zenkoku: Season 2 - Semifinals
  • ???: Saki Zenkoku: Season 3 - Finals
... which I admit might sound ridiculous.

Its not ridiculous. Its probably what will happen.

And in other news.

Spoiler for points for sergeant round:

How will they pace the episode? I stage per season like quarter, semi then finals? it sound recally ridicoulous.

I was thinking more about the nomenclature - I couldn't imagine myself saying "Saki season 5" (or, when I was typing my previous post, "Saki season 2 season 1"), especially when you can be referring to different shows depending how you count these things (which will definitely be complicated by an all-but-confirmed Shinohayu anime that would most certainly air in between one of the Zenkoku seasons).

Also, next chapter will be released Nov 1, meaning Ritz didn't take a break yet again.

Content-wise, there's probably enough things to animate at each stage of the tournament to fill a complete season, if you factor in the prerequisite introductory episode and filler episodes (Eisui-Miyamori beach chapter when?).

I wonder if Studio Gokumi didn't have anything else lined up for winter...or if the production committee didn't feel like funding a straight up 2 cours season. Either way, this news is pretty unexpected and disappointing. I guess I'll look forward to the season regardless, but it's quite a shame.

You know, I wonder whether the anime will elaborate on who Saki, Nodoka, and Tacos met at the train station right after end credit of Achiga anime episode 10. Could turn out to be Shino for filler match perhaps?

What's quite a shamed? It's awesome! After Achiga and various breaks, I'm glad that there will be more Saki!

It's ashamed that they'll never cover the Rinkai + Usuzan match, but at least we still get something! It's going to be like the first season where the pad out with flashbacks and more character interactions unlike the fast paced Achiga.

Personally, I can't wait.

EDIT: And look at that! Saki: Episode of side-M(iyamori!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4Y2uPaeKs8
