@ Demi
Yes, the 127mm one mounted in the front, since it fires considerably slower than the on the back. Both packing enough punch against most I.S., the front one could made Uchigane look silly, but too slow firing and mostly used as 'sniper' weapon (yes, they could shoot a missile inbound too, when using 'buckshot' canister shell) It's carrier first and warship second, so it doesn't pack that much armor either. @ Eras Yes, go ahead.

As said before, 400 tons of I.S. and equivalent stuff. It has built in handling equipment.
Most Exoskeleton, I.S. or otherwise, is anywhere between 250-1000 kg. Fortress is anywhere from 2 ton to 40 ton. The only constraint so far is size, since Fortress is often as large as their weight indicate, they can reach size of a jet fighter.

No, there's always the concern about armor and barrier density. So, Fortress is always made as compact as possible without sacrificing performance.
Earth engineering always have problem scaling up than down

I meant performance wise. Large diesel engine in a ship is much less efficient than car mounted one. The limitation always been material strength. :/
It was true though, the smaller it get the more expensive they are, simply due to the complexity of manufacturing. This is why Fortress components are mostly huge slab of metal and panels compared to utterly expensive I.S. micro-components, and yet the cost is not much different if the size is close enough. As Len said, comparing a fortress to I.S. is like comparing bootleg lego bricks and a model kit. (of course there's this little issue about inability to self-repair without extra materials...)
