level based animations?

Hello guys
I hope I'm not bothering, but I'm now looking for hours for a tutorial for easy creating level-based animations (I have a running character and want the background to move left while the runner runs right) Is that possible with Adobe Photoshop? Or do I have to move the background pixel per pixel, save it as a .png/jpg anddo same with the next 100000 of pictures?

PS:
I would buy quite expensive stuff for it but I'd (of course) prefer photoshop or freeware

Would be great if you wouldn't say:
Use the search button, I can't because I don't really know how to make this short...

friendly greetings,
hackzack

Frame by frame is about the only way to animate anything in photoshop. Flash is more versatile but makes working with sprites a real pain (actually it's a pain overall but as said more versatile for animating). 100000 frames is by the way about 70 minutes of animation. And you don't need to save each frame, you can use the animation feature in photoshop and work with layers as frames. You should check some of the animation tutorials found here.

This is more likely the most appropriate place for you to post but it's rather rude to consider or expect a reply after less than 4 hours

thx, and sorry for sounding rude, I was just unsure whether I'll get an answer somewhen, I really expected a yes/no answer on my second post but no answer to miy 1rst. Thank you that it worked that quick!
EDIT:
I'm living in the netherlands, so the 4 hours were my afternoon

Sometimes the Fan Creations forum is slow, especially on a subject not many people are knowledgeable about, like frame-by-frame animation. People won't post if they don't know anything.

I think I'll be quiet and leave the people who know what they're talking about to post.

I know this doesnt really answer your questions but if you really want to get into making animations you should look into this software, Though quite expensive it would make your process a whole lot easier.

Photoshop can do animation if you're just moving the background left (provided you have the entire long stretch of background ready, and youre just literally, moving the background). Anything more complex and youre probably left to frame by frame, so as said by a above poster, youre better off using flash, which has some pretty smart motion/shape tweening capability, but complex animations still require you to frame-by-frame.
