Man NHK is coming to a close and I am dead in love with this show I cannot get enough is their anything at all that is similar to this beast of a show I've already seen Genshiken and probably Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien which is the only shows I remember watching that is close in comparison.

Anything like real life problems and overcoming emotional hurdles would be cool would be cool.

Don't worry man this series is great it has everything great story some romance and it has a fair share of comedy and some very emotional parts really good show.

The melanchony of suzumiya Haruhi -- the closest i could think of.

Honey and Clover -- nice series with some real life problem and dramatic story.
Nana -- romance/drama

damn i really wish there were more of these sorts. other than those mentioned, i can only think of ones that are very loosly similiar. great teacher deals with a lot of every day contemporary problems kinda like nhk. genshiken is the only anime i know that is really close in comparison to nhk but you already mentioned that. i bet you've seen gto anyway...
