You're missing out on a lot by watching anime on youtube. And I do mean a lot.

I watch my anime while doing homework, with Microsoft Word on the bottom half and anime on the top. So I type while I watch, it works for the opening scene, and then anime prevails and I just turn it on full-screen.

I watch it on the computer, anime never comes to tv and when it does, it's normally repeats of what i've already seen or don't want to see. Not only that but I find it easier to skip parts or rewatch sections and it takes hardly any time to load an ep on the computer.

Come to think of it we don't even get good tv shows, i'm still waiting for season 2 of Heroes... any day now.

I watch them mostly on my laptop, except for .mkv 1280 resolution files, which my laptop doesn't like to run. Those I have to use my desktop. If they are .mp4 hd files, I use my xbox 360

Actually, you can set the PC so it won't be shut off automatically when you watch anime. I think its somewhere around the control panel...

I usually watch anime in my 15" laptop while sitting on my chair a few metres from the monitor. And I get the series by downloading on a fansub site.

I download the highest quality versions of the animes, many 1280x720, but there are almost no 1920x1200 ones (besides some movies or ovas), and watch them on my 24" HD monitor from my bed.

There are three general ways:
  1. Computer - Pros: Supports all formats of video (HD in particular), good audio (Sennheiser HD 280 Pro), quick and easy; Cons: reclining isn't possible, congested area
  2. PS3 (streaming with Mediatomb) - Pros: Viewable from bed, spacious floor provides room for guests; Cons: Extremely picky about format, nothing above 480 vertical lines of resolution is supported (i.e. no HD), if it isn't XviD/DivX in an AVI it needs transcoding (which means a 20-some minute wait)
  3. PSP - Pros: Portable, great for long trips; Cons: Tiny, usually involves transcoding, arm cramping
This summer I've gone thru a phases that alternate between the computer and PS3. Two weeks ago, I was watching everything on the computer; now, I'm on PS3 mode, watching from my bed at night time. Once move-in day arrives for us OSU students a week from Sunday, I'll be watching on my computer again, except that my TV will become my monitor (the 4th way, applicable at school).

I like usually watching anime from my laptop. It's really convenient this way because I can surf the net, play games, etc.

Actually, I know one person who has a room like this. He watches anime on his wall thanks to his great projector.

Projectors aren't even that expensive. I got mine for $2500 new a few years back, nowadays you can get it for about $1000. With a white wall, you don't even need a screen. As long as you can control ambient light, they're a great way to get huge screen size at a reasonable cost.

I love my projector, I'd never go back to regular TV anymore hehe.

What type of display do you watch anime on?

I was wondering what you guys use to watch anime on? I current'y have a 4:3 19" But I want to upgrade to a larger 16:9 screen. I heard TN panels are bad for movies, but MVA / S-PVA ones are good for them, something about one displaying less colors then the other, I was wondering if this applies for anime as well
