Protectiveness?

I'm looking for any series that has this type of relation where the there is a same age or older girl and younger boy and she is protective of him. It doesn't have to be actual siblings either, as something like that in Shana is also good. It also doesn't have to be literal protection like in Shana against enemies either, just someone who displays that trait and the series focuses on that a lot.

As for genres any is fine.

thanks!

Mahoromatic fits your description perfectly. It is mostly comedy but has some action/romance.

Saikano I don't exactly know if Chise is older than Shuji, but I do know she is a weapon and deals with it only to protect him, and he feels bad because deep down inside he's afraid of her, and knows that he can't protect her. He wants to though, "it's prolly a man thing, he wants to step up and be a man, blah blah blah, haha.] I don't know how well that would fit your description, but I think it slightly resembles it.

Seirei no Moribito perhaps?

Black Lagoon and Claymore also has the trait with a woman protecting a man/boy but I wonder if I would be lying if I said that their relationship has a lot of focus. I believe I would, but the woman is the protector and the protectiveness certainly are there.

Might be best to add that neither of these shows have any romance, Seirei no Moribito and Claymore is fantasy/action while Black Lagoon is pure action. Also note that Black Lagoon consists of two seasons 12 each.

thanks

Mahoromatic's looks fun. Already seen Saikano.

I don't mind action unless it overshadows everything else in showing the relation.

anyone else?

Fate/Stay Night offers the scenario you ask for. Saber is indeed very protective of Shiro, and she's infinitely older than him.
In contrast, Shiro is also extremely protective of her.

In NHK ni Youkoso! , Misaki-san tries to help Seto-kun to get over his hikikomori condition, so in some way, she is quite protective of him.

If you aren't look specifically for one older/same age sister protecting her brother, then you could try these animes:

Air Gear kinda fits. The main protagonist have sisters that constantly watching over him.
Happy Lesson should also fits. It's about a single boy living with 5 teacher/moms. Surprisingly, despite the setting, it doesn't feature ecchi fanservice (well, nothing that I can remember).
Magikano maybe fits. About a boy living with 4 witches.

Good one Echoes, if it goes both ways all the better; I don't like it if it's too one sided.

I have heard of NHK, sounds interesting.

hmm... multiple people is ok, but i don't want a harem series though~

I know this is the opposite of what you might like, but "Full Moon wo Sagashite" is pretty good. Full Moon wo Sagashite involves a young school girl who meets up with an older boy and girl:

"Full Moon o Sagashite is based on the manga of the same title by Tanaemura Arina. The story focuses on 12-year old Mitsuki who loves to sing and wants to become a singer. However, she has a tumour in her throat, which might only be cured at the cost of her voice.

One day, two Shinigamis (gods of death from Japanese mythology), Takuto and Meroko, appear before her with news that she has only one year to live.

In order to realise her dream of becoming a singer, she prevails upon Takuto to transform her into a 16-year old girl and took part in a singing audition. Of course, she passes the audition and starts her singing career, but can she realise all her goals in the time she has left?"

It is more of the older boy (Takuto) that protects Mitsuki.

Yes! I forgot why I didn't think of this. Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo! fits the description perfectly and is one of my most enjoyable anime.

Hmm, the Eyeshield 21 manga (can't comment on the anime since I haven't seen it), perhaps? Although it mainly focuses on the sport of American Football and devote relatively little time to the relationships that exists within the story.

History's strongest diciple Kenichi might fit too. Miu and Shigure are quite protective (not harem), and he works his a** off to be able to protect them.
