What i find a bit creepier is that you actually noticed them ...kinda makes me wonder about you

but then again...mantis' probably have slightly better eyes then humans...so you seeing those "stains" must be because of your superior eyes....right!?

I wonder what the starter of 'poper posting' and Aion felt like when the n00bness sunk in. It must feel pretty crappy ... cause you think you're the hip man on the block with the awsome n00bbashing url and then you realise how you still suck at the internet. Must be heartbreaking

On a side note Manti has a good eye for that kind of stuff. He's like an exorcist for jiz.. I mean weird stains.

Ya know, I once had an english teacher who wrote comments like those. I used to write totally off-the-wall shit to get her to take out her red pen and mark up my essays. Quite fun, actually, until I saw my english grade. Not that that was on topic or anything, but whatever.

vBulletin Keyboard Shortcuts

Hey all...

I don't know how many people know of these (maybe I'm the last one to find out ), but here's a small list of keyboard shortcuts you can use within the forum (vBulletin). I've been using Ctrl+b & Ctrl+u to format text and Alt+4 to hit up Advanced Search for a while now. Some of these are pretty handy of you're anti-mouse-click like I can be at times.

Alt+s = save settings (control panel)

Alt+1 = forum home
Alt+2 = new posts
Alt+3 = toggles print view
Alt+4 = search
Alt+5 = faq

Message Editor Window Shortcuts:

Ctrl+b = bold
Ctrl+i = italics
Ctrl+u = underline

Alt+p = preview message
Alt+s = submit message

Replying

Alt + x = Go Advanced Reply Editor

Cheers.

Well, I'm bored, so time to bring up my guide as of how to report button, with ONE NEW EXTRA SINCE! (AKA: A title based off something from 4chan (I think)).

Spoiler for get ready for the retardedly long guide called.....:

Now you know how to use the Report button. Congratsulations.

Mostly correct but a few corrections need to be made.

Signature is too big
I see no problem with using the Report button for this. It makes my job easier since I can immediately see a post with the offending sig.

The following are interpretations, so it could be just the way you phased it that needs correcting.

Inappropriate images
There's a difference between "nudity" and "inappropriate images". In the Forum Rules we state:
Quote:
Any content (e.g. images, text, video, etc.) that is of a pornographic, extremely violent, repulsive or disturbing nature, or otherwise unsuitable for minors, is expressly forbidden.
Nudity doesn't equal pornographic. Images of fully clothed people could still be pornographic.

What we do not allow are images of a "sexual nature", and that's subjective. So your examples are correct but just saying that "nudity is never allowed" isn't.

"Using images to insult another member" are called "retort images". It might be better to split this section into two since retort images can cover may subject and aren't normally sexual in nature (they are more along the lines of "stfu" images").

Huge images
Very true, just to add that "hiding" them in spoiler tags doesn't help since the entire image is still loaded to your PC even if you never open the spoiler tag.

Bumping/Necroposting
Unnecessary bumping is certainly correct but we don't have any issues with "Necroposting". In fact if anything we will merge posts no matter how old the previous thread was.

Again, this might just be down to interpretation of what's meant by "Necroposting" but if it's a valid point of discussion then we prefer a post to be added to an (old) existing thread than for a new thread to be created.

The following reasons could also be added.

Please do my homework for me: Requests for help in completing coursework, homework, assignments and the such like.

Intimate problems: Some sort of personal problem the poster wants others to solve for them. This isn't a "Dear Abbey" forum, it's an anime forum and just because we have a "General Chat" forum doesn't mean anything can be posted.(see Rule 2.2).

The last group needs some rewording as well.

People posting
This might cause some misunderstanding so maybe it should be renamed to Personal Objections.

i.e. you should not report a post just because you do not agree with the opinions expressed by the poster. There needs to be something wrong with the post (as the above examples show) and not because of personal differences or opinion in say the way an anime finished or it's meaning.

People who don’t rate another persons avatar or signature
Again I don't have a problem with this but then I rarely R.O.D a post in the example threads you gave. So maybe using the Report button is slightly excessive in this case.

A staff member
I don't see why you shouldn't report a post made by a staff member. If they are doing something wrong then report it. We are not allowed to break the rules any more than anyone else is.

A thread that you think is stupid but doesn’t break the rules
This should really be included in the Personal Objections section above. After all, if a thread or post is really, really dumb or stupid then reporting most likely would fall under the pointless threads rule.

But apart from that, you seemed to catch most reasons for the use of the Report button.

Once enough votes have been cast for the thread rating, you may see a set of stars appear with the title of the thread in the thread listings. These stars reflect the average vote cast, and can allow you to quickly see which threads are worth reading if you are on a very busy forum with a lot of threads
This is from the AS Forum FAQ...

So is it disabled or something... because I just can't find such a option anywhere...

All won't work in Opera...

Maybe they work in the new Opera 9 Beta... unfortunately that won't even open AS forums... so there's no way to tell

Too bad... Opera actually looks nicer then Firefox (except the damn loading thing)... well I guess there's a trick to this... since NoSanninWa is probably using it ...

Q. Is there a way to make you avatar appear in the preview... so you can see exactly what your post will look like... it can be very annoying sometimes when you get a smilie on some stupid separate line... or some of the other stupid things... and then you have to go and edit it and edit it until it looks like you wanted it...

Q. Is it me or does writing :p sometimes leaves you with the text... as in you don't get the smilie version

Q. Is there a way in the Topic Review (Advance Mode thing)... to show the smilies as text... basically so you can copy the post you want to quote smilies and all...

Q. Is there a way to make it so when you hit Ctrl U (for example) the message doesn't reset to the first line (as in... you don't get a PageUp)... Sure you can hit any of the arrow keys to jump back since the curser is left there... but it's pretty annoying to have the screen flicker like that...

Q. Is there a way to delete your post...

Nope. Not that I know of.

Yes, that happens to me sometimes as well. I'm not sure why it does.

Not that I know of. I usually just toggle out of Advanced Mode if I want smiley/image/link text. Advanced mode should copy all smileys .... though I haven't tried it lately.

Yes that is annoying and it happens to me as well. I haven't found a fix for it and I, like you, end up hitting an arrow key or continue typing to re-focus the cursor back down the page.

No. Not for users. Just Mods & Admins. Select all your text, delete it, post "Please delete this.", hit the Alert button and include the message, "Please delete my post for _______ reason. Thank you for being such great Moderators and doing such a wonderful job. They should pay you more. Cheers."

I may have interpretted this incorrectly but if you think I was the person who fixed the problem, then sorry to say that I cannot claim the credit

The message you saw refers to the server admin (mb81), not the forum admin. And as to the problem, I think it's related to this issue. I strongly suspect it's something it's actually caused by mb81 in the first place. He's been installing new scripts and the outcome is somewhat expected (i.e. a screwed AS forum). It's a common occurence when he "improves" the severs (without any warning to anyone). I hope he can work out what he's done wrong this time.

Yep, there's a great trick. I just click on the button over the text box and it formats the text for me. Okay, that's not much of a trick actually.

Sorry, but the new Opera 9 beta does not add this functionality either. I don't get to use the shortcut keys. Personally I don't feel the need, but if you do, then Firefox is the way to go.

Q. What are the Option types for the lists...
For example... I know of the
[list][list=a][list=1][list=A][list=I][list=i]
...

I know there has to be at least one more... because Lefteris_D uses it in the General Chat Thread Index... Link Here
Q. What are the tag priorities... maybe this is confusing ^^...

*here's an example...*

The
[Color]
tag overrides the [
B] [I] [U]
tags... so if they are placed in the color tag they work... otherwise they dont...
Q. What is the purpose of the [pre] tag...
Acording to the example in the FAQ... it's to preserve spaces or something... but...

With the Pre tag

S p a c i n g is preserved
With no Pre tag
S p a c i n g is preserved
*...Hmmmmmm ... I must be missing something... I only see it changing the font...*

Little Q. How do I preserve multiple spaces...
*Now for some useless information...*
  1. If you type NOPARSE (with brackets) anywhere in the post... it's equivalent to typing your entire post in a no parse tag... to be more accurate... some tags will remain... others become disabled... and you might even get some error (tags go crazy)...
  2. When you use the URL tag if you don't type a name... it will be invisible... for example... if I were to type it in this post... Img Link
This... [url=www.Google.com][/url]... will get you this...
*yes... it's invisible... because the button is missing... meaning the text that the people were suppose to click to access it *
  3. When on AnimeSuki... if you scroll the page way down... the last line... will show the server you are on...
For example : You are using server number 3.
This might be useful when the forum has minor glitches (The Haruhi Thread, The Haruhi Poll)

..:: Off Topic ::..

*This has been bothering me for a while and I don't feel like creating a new thread for every little thing... *

When the forum has some critical error or problem (like The Forum Hack)... why isn't AnimeSuki Forum resurrected from the smelliest pits of the internet... and people redirected there instead of IRC ... since the forum software seems to be set so only posts from 100 days ago will be visible (by default)... there shouldn't be a problem... because it would look like it's empty... all that would be needed... would be to just reopen the forums for temporary discussion...

  1. What are the Option types for the lists...
You've listed them all. They equate to the following CSS list-types:
    • 1 - decimal (this is the default if you don't set one or set an invalid one)
    • A - upper-alpha
    • I - upper-roman
    • i - lower-roman
    • a - lower-alpha
What I think you are seeing in that thread, is what I've done above. Nested list tags...

  2. What are the tag priorities...
    color, bold: Test
    bold, color: Test
They look the same to me... Maybe it has something to do with the HTML produced (font and b tags) and the browser you are using. There is no forum defined priority.

  3. What is the purpose of the [pre] tag...
To preserve space... though I think it is just a relic and hasn't worked in a long time if it ever did. It was supposed to preserve multiple spaces between characters, but because it just uses the HTML <code> tag it doesn't do anything of the sort. I suppose it could be fixed so that it does actually preserve space...

  4. Why isn't [the old] AnimeSuki Forum resurrected
Firstly, it would split the discussion, which we do not want to do. Secondly, and more importantly IMHO, the software hasn't been updated in years. It is probably full of security holes that newer versions have fixed. While it remains closed and not used it is ok, open it and any unpatched bugs can be exploited again. Not an option.
