Can't disagree anything about Haypro, Huk, and Ret. Though it pains me to say it, the rare few good games on the ladder might just be more prominent because great games get highlighted more. They might actually play just like what we see it. Jinro seems to be in a slump. Both against Z and P. Seems like the only thing Jinro plays well right now is TvT. I swear to god I want TLO to try playing a style that he's not really played before: consistent. He's got all the weird strategies, great timings, and unorthodox thinking down pat, but if his strategies and unorthodox thinking doesn't give him a good advantage right off the bat, he never really wins. Hell, damn carpal tunnel doesn't help him either. Good thing he's still awesome to watch no matter what happens. You! You must show Nazgul due respect! He built TeamLiquid into the heart and focal point of Starcraft. Played in Korea in yester-years and still managed to upset IdrA at MLG. Not bad for a manager that doesn't play. He'd probably still kick-ass if he practiced like his players. Man, anyone watching the world championship intently? I cannot emphasize how much I want TT1 and Dimaga to make it to the finals. It would be nice to see Korean domination end, at least for 1 tournament. |

The way I see it, the Koreans were too confident their normal practice would work and feel no need to research the opponent/familiarise with the latency of different servers. On the other hand, foreigners are more experienced in multi-server laddering and I don't think there's anyone among them who didn't do massive research into their Korean counterparts for an anti-Korean strat.

Also, at least in Europe, they are going for larger maps to setup longer games rather than small maps for quick games. Longer economy based games with teching going on rather than heavy all in/cheese builds. That and several European player seem to be building cheese counters that if the all in player cannot handle a switch to a longer game, the counter will roll him over once the cheese sputters out.

None of the Koreans took that offer, so it's their fault. Besides, if you watched the games, you'd see that the games were well played. The Koreans simply made more mistakes. Lag doesn't cause you to get less upgrades or macro worse than your opponent. |
