Well for me, I think that Chihaya and Kotori's route aren't good enough.. Akane and Lucia's route are nice.

I tried to read Akane's route as far as I could go, but honestly, Romeo's narrative really irked me a lot in this route, to the point I have difficulties to keep focus on the ongoing events.
But the true problem of this route is the fact how out of character Kotarou is, leaving me a lot of questions regarding his motives etc in Akane's route (and the sudden gap for the second part of the route made me give up). I guess I will check it out later but decided not to push myself.

Instead, went with Kotori's route, and that was far better than Akane's route, despite it was also written by Romeo.
Spoiler for Kotori's route, mild spoilers, no detail or end route spoilers:

For those who haven't read the VN yet, I would wholeheartedly suggest you to start with Kotori's route first: even though it sometimes bring information as if fish slapping its readers, it has tons of foreshadowing and sets a lot of interesting questions + answers things that would leave people scratching their head if they start another route instead (Kotarou's weird behavior, Aurora, etc).

Kotori's route is by far less intense than Chihaya's, but I personally prefer Kotori's, for the development, setup and emotional build up. Not saying Chihaya's is bad, of course.

You guys are ridiculously fast. I'm still only at 10/30 on my first playthrough, and I've put in at least 10 hours. Is my reading speed just that slow?

Slow or fast doesn't matter. Just enjoy it at your own pace. Everyone has a different speed.

You can go through the very difficult of process of using auto-translation tools. Although several kanji words will be mistaken and overall the translation will be bad, it's atleast good enough to get the story a bit. I'm planning on playing Rewrite once I clear up two more visual novels I'm just about finished. Also like winkel
said, it's best if you enjoy it at your own speed then trying to blitz through it.

It'll be a while for the translation. This is Key's longest VN yet I think, how long did the shorter ones take to translate?

I personally hook AGTH so I can copypaste into a dictionary for unknown words. It requires a bit of knowledge on how sentences are structured/how certain words work/etc, but it helps if you can sort of understand Japanese and have trouble with vocab. Its a bit slow if you have no clue what every single word means, but it'll speed up eventually as you start to remember more commonly used words.

Any of you guys mind filling this page: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Game/Rewrite with some info? It's been practically dormant since the demo came out because no one has bothered to edit it.

Kanon: 2002 - 2009 (7 years)
Air: 2007 - now (4 years, ongoing [technically])
Clannad: 2007 - now (4 years, ongoing [technically, playable through leaked patches])
Tomoyo After: 2008 - now (3 years, dropped and picked up again)
Little Busters!: 2008 - now (3 years, ongoing, will soon be finished)

Yeah. Key projects are kind of cursed. The only Key title to have been translated in a reasonable timeframe was Planetarian, for which the project was started in 2004 and the full patch was released early 2005.

planetarian is also on the short side and linear.

It seems 2015 is a realistic date to expect our English patch.

Is there someone who plays Rewrite with AGTH and ATLAS translation programs?
Is it readable and you can understand the plot with it?

It might be barely understandable, it might be not. But either way you won't enjoy it.

To be honest, imo it depends on your proficiency in Japanese. One thing is to use it to look up that spare word once in a blue moon, but playing VNs by letting ATLAS translate everything and/or spend 10+ mins trying to figure out what a sentence means can ultimately cause major headaches and frustration
That said, I actually find it useful to learn vocabulary.
